  1. My bad I am the one seeking for information without having the knowledge to understand everything you guys tell me. This is why I was confused about when you were telling me that the Corolla steering pump has to be kept because it is better. Reading through the tips you posted I thought I read some thing about modifying the steering pump for piping. My bad. I agree with you about getting a mechanic who builds parts. There is one who does jobs like this but it is insanely expensive. My boy has been preparing Lotus cars for race. He is good but unfortunately right now he doesn’t have a four shop to do all the custom work. All I am saying is that it is harder here to find a shop with someone with all the passion to do a work like this. If I spend so much time on these forums is because I love it and I want to learn from the best to do a cool project but I don’t have the resources to pay the big shots. I will get the best from white you gave me here and will try to make it happen.
  2. Gotcha. Thanks. What about the manifold? How should it be cut Nd welded to avoid hitting the 4efe gearbox front mount? Do you have pictures? my mechanic asked me how should he modify the steering wheel oil distributor to get an extra exit for the turbo pipe to the turbo? Is this correct? How ca dot4 oil work with the turbo? Can you please explain. Do you have pictures of that part? Thanks
  3. Is the power steering pump bracket you mentioned part of the 4efte engine?
  4. Should I send you another picture for the corner or this is enough? Is the cap cover the plastic boxes on the side? i found this maybe it helps Starlet Glanza V 1998 4efte http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/jp/1998/starlet/ep91-agmqy/4_121150_006_/tool-engine-fuel/1901_ignition-coil-spark-plug Corolla E11 1998 4efe http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/1999/corolla-hb-lb/ee111r-agmdkw/3_153540_038_/tool-engine-fuel/1901_ignition-coil-spark-plug
  5. This is the original 4efte pipe? How will I have to fabricate the modified pipe? Isn’t there any on the market? Any drawing or measures?
  6. Hi. I am working on a project. About to swap 4efe with a ep91 4efte and as I will get an after market fuel pump and piggyback to get more hp, I was considering to keep the electronic ignition the 1998 4efe Corolla runs. What do you suggest? Thanks
  7. a few questions I still need answers to Don’t forget to give me this info to add the my swap project.do I need to replace the 4efe gearbox clutch to the 212 mm you suggested when swapping tto the 4efte? DoI have modify the 4efte manifold and turbo down-pipe to avoid hitting the Corolla crossmembers? How? How do I have to modify the 4efte front and rear mount to fit in and fit the 4efe gearbox? How will I adapt the 4efe inlet to the 4efte throttlebody? How will I move the 4efe air box sensor th the 4efte throttlebody? Where exactly should it go? Ho will I adapt the 4efe electronic ignition system to the 4efte engine and how will it run with the 4efte ECU I will install with the new engine? Any pictures and diagrams to make it happen smoothly? How will I adapt the 4efe steering wheel to fit oil channel to the turbo etc?
  8. No worries. Take your time When I collect the last details I can plan to swap with my mechanic and finally find the engine and the extra parts you suggested.
  9. This way it will be much easier but I will have to replace every connection from one engine to the other. What about the extra wires and sensors that come with the 4EFTE? Do you have a short list for safety swap? Thanks
  10. Apparently late ep91 4EFTE engines don’t have the water outlet on the head.
  11. You mean that I could keep the 4EFE loom and ECU? I thought that when you swap with the 4EFTE you need its own ECU and loom. Let me know what you mean. I am referring to your first post with the swap details you gave me. Very thankful.
  12. @Sam44 Tje Corolla 4efe gearbox is a C56. Correct? It will bolt in easily to the 4efte ep91? What modification is required to Adapt the 4efe front mount to fit the 4efte front engine in the E11 Corolla? adapt the Corolla E11 steering pump to work with the 4efte? adapt the Corolla 4efe air box sensor to the Corolla Inlet adapted to the 4efte turbo? What about the cat 02 sensor? Is it included with the 4efte? Does the map sensor come with the 4efte engine or should I buy it separately. ECU, loom and wiring to the fuse original box box are included. thank you
  13. I thought we were speaking about the swap with the 4EFTE engine.
  14. You mean that I could buy the 4EFTE engine without gearbox and without ECU and loom? Just manifold, intercooler and turbo. Correct? How do you see the swap done without the original loon? I would have to use the 4EFE Corolla E11 loom? You told me there are more sensors on the 4EFTE engine. How am I gonna manage that? Let me know when you have time. Thanks
  15. I thought we were speaking about the 4efe to 4EFTE swap. I thought that the piggyback should connect to the 4EFTE ECU.
  16. Hi Sam. I was reading your early posts. How will the Piggyback connect to the 4efte ECU? Can you send me or post the wiring diagram you told me about?.Can you give me more details about the Corolla 4efe steering pump modification for the 4efte engine conversion? i’m putting together the basic list with the information you gave me these last weeks to see total prices and proceed with the purchase of the 4efte engine. Thank you.
  17. Wise. From all the information that these amazing guys gave me I shall put myself a short list together and wait for feedbacks. Fact is that I am not an expert like you guys are. My concern was to follow somebody’s lead and bye the extra components with the full engine and make sure I wouldn’t have to put on hold the conversion as my mechanic won’t let me do it. What learned so far Is that I need an EP 91 4EFTE complete engine with uncut fuse box with a ct9b turbo. I will need a high-performance fuel pump. Minimum maintainance such as water pump and belts. I will get my custom exhaust welded to the 4efte manifold. The airbox sensor should be adapted in the inlet but I don’t know how. The ECU will go straight in. The fuse box swap will be quite easy I guess because I will be able to unplug and plug step-by-step every wire. About the gearbox. It should go straight in the 4EFE gearbox that @Sam44 told me has shorter gears as the car is heavier compared to a Starlet It will be better to drive. I read about an adaption I should make to fit the engine using a custom aluminum 2 mm thickness to avoid an oil leak. I have to go back to see exactly what was it about. The front and rear 4efte loom mount should be straightforward. The steering pump works perfect for the conversion. This is what I read about but I also read that there is a fix to pick up the oil for the turbo. This is something else I should get details about. This is what I gathered so far and I should get more details about the mechanical fixes that has to be done precisely in order to discuss it with the mechanic.
  18. Interesting. Thank you for sharing. How can I identify this detail when I buy an engine from the UK. Should I ask the seller to get the turbo apart and confirm it is the turbo I’m looking for?
  19. I’m loving this conversation. Very interesting. Still sitting tight to understand if I should rather buy a complete 4EFTE engine without gearbox to be adapted on my 4EFE or either turbocharge my 4EFE. I heard a lot and nothing seems the perfect choice. As MY mechanic DOESN’t have experience on this particular engine, I cannot risk to start a conversion and drown my budget. Could you guys please help me before I go the wrong way? I really need a list of components I shall buy for either options. A list of components, tips and brand. Two turbo charge my engine I will need a lot of 4EFTE parts that I don’t know for sure I would find. This way I can search for prices and see which option would be cheaper. I remind that I own a Corolla E11 with a 1998 4efe with 230k Km. 4efte engines like the one I have ready to buy has 60k Km.
  20. I am not sure because I never brought it to the limiter. I have always change the gear at about 6000 RPM. I believe as you said it is around 6400 RPM.
  21. Thank you. I know where it’s housed but I don’t know how to put it into the inlet manifold. Do you have a picture or can you explain it to me?
  22. Is there a code who identifies these two types of heads? Thanks
  23. If I could get some of you guys to do the job I would turbocharge my engine and get a decent amount of horsepower (180 max) for a daily use. The fact that there is no mechanic here that has a complete vision of the project it worries me and pulls me back. Even if you could forge a 4EFE engine, I still would have to put all the other parts together as you listed and buying all those components, the 4EFTE parts and the new parts such as turbo and piggyback, it would cost me more than what I think. Probably. This is why it’s safer to swap it with a 4EFTE and get my shop to work only on some detail, like fuse box wiring and fitting the intercooler. I am sure they could do it well even if they don’t have experience on these engines. I can buy a 4EFTE with fuse box, ECU, loom, IC and everything else ready for swap with a 4AFE gearbox. The seller told me that the box is strong as the 4EFTE is. This will save me 250 pounds. I would buy a new fuel pump, water pump, belts and get it running. I need information to adapt the Corolla 4EFE inlet to the 4EFTE engine. I would keep the Corolla steering pump as you guys said. Basically I’m looking for a list to get everything done right. Can you help? I’m ready to purchase the engine. Now it’s all about how much information I can gather before I proceed. Thanks
