Would also like to be in the donated moderator group but can we change it to UKSC Insider Moderating Team lol ;), did Lianne manage to get that sent out? Talk soon Joz

★ Project 赤い脈動 EP 九一 ★ 14/06/12 - Interior and Exterior Update! ★
Jozinobi replied to Jozinobi's topic in EP91 Progress Blogs
Blimey a whole month without an update ;) MOT time near the end of the month and insurance renewal so just making sure she makes it through. Of course major mods are in the pipeline for all areas of the car and its just a matter of waiting for them to go on/arrive with some work already done , they won't disappoint and the n/a tuning bar shall be raised again Im afraid Will certainly need a new siggy... ;) Engine bay has been revamped and those who saw it at the meet, I hope you can gain some inspiration from it Peace Out Joz -
No No Tintin that will never happen. Its the minority of one here, cutting springs is a cheap method but is also not worth it. If you care about your car and your own well being then do things properly. Joz

I agree with most of your comments Rich, but its not just about the air filter itself, yes the purpose is to clean the air coming in, but the overall setup is also important and that is where Im getting at, its the mouth of your cars intake/breathing system and how it takes it in is important, yes the standard airbox is great with the k&n panel, but the air volume it takes in is minimal and crap and not even cold. I find with a setup where a higher volume of dense cold air is introduced to the intake, there is greater potential all round. Its not just about which type of filter is better or whatever, its the setup and its potential and of course gives excellent gains you would not see from the panel filter. I must contradict tho, that Im running the 5efe so I guess I will not go on about it anymore as there are obviously differences that you will get running the same setup on the 1.3 and the 1.5. I am however using the 4efe revrange of 6200rpm and its fine and plenty to make use of an induction kit. Joz

Im not going to get into a debate Rich but I must put some genuine points across ;) The 'carbon style' enclosed filters do not have the same characteristics as the proper bmc cda, the filter element goes all round inside the bmc cda as well as a patent contour design to help airflow turbulence whereas the copy has a universal shitty small cone. As well as the bmc cda being real carbon fibre that has better heat proofing properties than a universal carbon copy jobby which of course I have also tried Open filters are not the way, altho they make a nice sound they suck in all the engine bay heat that will lose you performance no matter the quality of the filtration or filter element. On higher powered cars this is less worrying (think of twin hks mushrooms on a twin turbo), but for us ep n/a we need all the cold, dense air that we can get!. You also said when u tried the carbon copy it didnt make much difference but did you give the ecu enough time to re-adjust itself to the new setup and more incoming air ratio? It is this difference that allows a greater volume of airflow. You know yourself I've dabbled with the best of the induction setups. Then again with myself now running the 5efe, optimum breathing mods and decat, perhaps Im over zealous as the benefits Im getting are more worthwhile due to the already improved power and torque over the 4efe. But fair enough if you got good results from the R-Active relocation, I found the carbon copy with the cold air feed directed to the front bumper worked wonders and power and torque as well as ease of accel was noticeably improved. You forget we are tuning a small economy engine, so the power will always be different throughout the rev range, not constant as you would lose a lot of economy. Think of vtec and why its not always constantly on, would you rather the same power all the way?... I don't think so. My power kicks in fully hard at 4krpm on wot till 6200k redline. You can see Ross, being a serious n/a tuner myself I solely recommend the bmc cda, and also Phil is ordering one, doesn't that tell you something? Everyone is different and thats what makes us unique. Each to their own and all the best with your induction kit decision. Joz
-
I have to disagree with Rich on that last comment. The enclosed induction and cai setup was something you never tried on the n/a. The bmc cda is the top dog Ross. Just ask Phil Joz

After all this time I dont have your number either Sparks lol. I'll pm mine over now, pm yours back bro. And all the best with THE Big Day! Peace Joz

BMC CDA FTMFW!!! ;) Its also how your intake route is setup... that will make or break your performance gains or losses. You are damn right about the goodness of bmc nangle having tasted it yourself... Joz

Also people it didnt rain one drop whilst we were there, it actually brightened up really well. It was just the rain from the night before which was drying off ;) Joz -

UKSCNI Newcastle Meet - 21st September 2007

Great efforts from the nanglebadger there. That banner looked great! It was also a really great day for us n/a fans with a long awaited get together of the three ukscni modded ep91 n/a's and really good technical banter, as if we were on the forum! We didnt get much of a chance to talk in depth with Grant about the turbo but there will always be the next time! Still there was much conversation throughout the group, not just about starlets but the whole tuning scene and life in general, both technical and non technical, and for such a short time, the banter was so Immense and Intimate!!! I also haven't laughed as hard in a while, I think you will have noticed the meet's festivities were aimed at having a damn good time lol. That drift battle drifts into my mind again... Many thanks again for the presence of the menacing panda and the equally shaped YRV, their respected owners and of course the ukscni Divas ;) It was a fantastic meet and hopefully the first of many for me. Roll on UKSCNI, we are still a young and growing club and here's to the future of UKSC. Shame you couldn't make it Jay but its very understandable, and why didn't anyone think of the venue etc before, well the answer is Get well soon big man! Joz -

Man that reply brings a bright stardust tear to my eye ... lmao Phil I bet you havent laughed that hard in ages Im still at work but had to take a deek at the nangle literature above. Special mention goes to everybody who attended as you made the meet It also shows that you can still have a good time with such short hours to spare. For me and Phil anyway that meet will remain in our lifetime memory ;) As for props to fogdog, he is now my current jdm drift rival, you should have seen how intense he was!!! and his last words were "Next Time I'l Beat You!!!" :P As for the Starletto Phil, Im glad you finally understand the theory behind it Im happy you got to test it briefly. Pics coming soon... as well as more afterthoughts and ukscni memoirs. Joz -
Only just got back from this meet, my very first might I add. This meet had it all folks, romance, uncertainty, high speed car chases, a race against time... I could go on, even time for dessert. Wail til Phil gets on haha ;) Im off to work so will post the pics we took later. Was fantastic meeting you all and thanks for making it, time just flies by when you're having fun Hope we can organise many more meets, its a great gang we have. Peace Joz
