  1. Hey man Yea, this may be only option getting the SUV bumper because the glanza one is discontinued and I think u have to modify the glanza one to fit? I take it the SUV is a straight replacement? How did u get on with yours? Thing is deciding between getting the SUV bumper and fogs or sort out the suspension first ;b should be fun! Nice one From Joz
  2. Hey Prangers REALLY nice lowering job there mate ;b Thumbs Up is right ! The nite pics are clear enuff and look pretty smart seeing as you took them a little while after u finished the job Day pics are gonna look even better. I am waiting to get mine lowered too ;b Is your car on lowering springs only (what brand?) or do you have aftermarket shocks too? Keep up the good work Well jealous of the SUV bumper u got lol Got plans of my own too, plz check out sum updated pics once I get stuff done ;b Look forward to hearing from ya soon Peace From Joz
  3. Wasup Dannyboi For a standard SR Starlet you could get top dollar from someone who really wants an ultra low mileage SR such as yours. I would have bought yours in a flash if I didnt have one already ;b Put it this way, you have a valuable SR there because of the tasty mileage and it sounds like the ltd edition metallic black version and momo steering wheel. The extras you put on your car will never add to its resale value except maybe coilovers and full bodykit. So put it this way, you have hardly spent any money on doing up your car, which is an advantage for you because you are selling your car you haven't lost out on anything ;b Mine is a standard red 1998 Starlet Si and is low mileage too, bit less than yours 26000 (24000 when I got her a few months ago) but the only difference is I bought mine from a big dealer and the going price was £2400. We haggled him down to £2200 and hence 'Starletto' was born. It would be different doing a private deal like yourself, and whoever comes to look at it will want to bargain wth you. Its so hard to say due to the type of buyers you are gonna encounter, plus time is against you because you got the aussie trip coming up. Definitely advertise a lot more if you are so desparate to sell it ;b The advantage with big dealers is that people always come round to have a look with loadsa interest. If you put it in autotrader with that low mileage, I am sure your gonna get a few calls ;b Its said that our toyota starlets always have a good resale value, but not many people want to pay top dollar for an older car these days unless its turbo or glanza. £2400 is totally reasonable, it would sound like taking the piss asking for more, but the advantage you have is prob one of the lowest mileage SRs in the UK and I bet its really well looked after with all that service history so its totally up to you and obviously you want to get a much as you can for it reasonably. Hope you get sorted mate ; Plz let us know how you get on. The only reason I dont already have a black sr is because the ones I seen before I got my red standard is due to the ruff mileage (70-80k) on em ;b One of the main reasons I love my car so much is for its low mileage. Peace From Joz
  4. Wasup James I am in the same position as you. Trying to think what lowering springs to get and whether or not to use standard shocks or something aftermarket. Pi springs can be bought from: http://www.body-kit.co.uk/acatalog/toyota_...ering_kits.html http://www.upauto.co.uk/Main.htm thats all I found so far. people on this site say that they sag with age and in turn make the car look lower than it is. The choices I want to make are between: TTE Lowering Springs (discontinued by toyota but £120 at the time of asking) (I am looking for some of these, so if anyone has some in reasonable condition please let me know!) Eibachs (similar to above) £170 Apex £100 (approximate) (some people have these) Pi reds £100 (approximate) (see below Gmax (said to be a hard ride) £100 approximate (prob wont go for these) My car is low mileage (26k) so I can afford to use the old shocks for a while as they were kyb standard on the starlet, but I may wait and get shocks too as those standard shocks are gonna eventually burst. I called KYB UK themselves and they only have the ExcelG shocks listed on their computer. Check this out for KYBs http://www.kayaba.co.uk/distributor/products_types.html Will update my Extreem EP Rides pics soon once I get the induction kit and tachometer fitted. The JDM Inlet Manifold is tasty and rips! Hows your car going so far? Let know how you get on mate. Good Luck From Joz

  7. Hi Enzo Cheers for making the club possible Proud to be part of it man! Thanx for the compliments on my modest car lol. Only had it 3 months. I am gonna stick with changing the manifold to the corolla one and sorting out a tasty apexi induction kit for the meantime. Hopefull getting a strut brace sorted thanks to one of the members on here ;b Im not sure if the TTE backbox is helping me or not lol... Am also on the lookout for a new cluster with tacho. Will also order in those clear sidelights and clear repeater from toyota soon as. Plz kep up the good work. I see new starlet drivers or hear abt them all the time, so hopefully will bump into them one day ( and ask em to check out the site if I can. You got pm @Enzo Peace From Joz
  8. Hiya Phil I just checked out your post. Awesome car dude! Can't wait to see it once you get the body kit on her ;b Was the skirts and spoiler you got off a glanza? Peace From Joz
  9. Hi Dave Glad you got the vids. Credit to the guy who put them available for download on his site. Living in Japan is a dream of mine too, but its too £££ at the moment ;b Maybe a holiday there would hurt too, could prob get a glanza for the dosh you might spend there lol ;b Peace From Joz
  10. Hi Rich Here are the pics of the manifolds I got. The 1st manky one is the one I got yesterday, I took it back this morning and got the tastier one. Plz let me know what you think. Also do I need this flange for the Apexi? The last pic there. If so I will have to get one ;b Cheers From Joz
  11. Hi Phil Thanks for that, I'll add you to my buddies list ok. I was talking a few times to Whitestarlet (gerard) you know him too? pm away dude when you got time ;b Cheers From Joz
  12. Hi Rich Thanks for the compliments. I am looking to get the clear indicators and clear side repeaters. Know anywhere to get them, or order them direct from toyota? And are there different types or just an oem one from toyo? Also is it hard to get Hid lights fitted (the bright lights with a bluey tint (xenon gas?) Will pm you later dude, I got a newer manifold today (swapped it over) The pics are up in my engine/drivetrain topic so you can see the old one and the new! Please let me know what you think. When you got time Rich ok ;b Cheers From Joz

  14. Hi potge You got pm dude. Cheers From Joz
  15. Hi All I know this topic has been discussed much before but thanks for taking the time to go over it again ;b Yea, I totally believe you when you say that just sticking lowering springs on will eventually kill your stock shocks ;b It woudl save u money but after a few wild rides problems will surely start to occur. Yea it is a little budget I got, with all the strut braces and other goodies on the horizon too (get them in a few months time), a car is not cheap to run nowadays but it sure is fun ;b I had a nosy on the net but couldnt find anywhere decent in the UK that does decent prices for front/rear Strut/Sway Bars, caster kits and hosing kits, any directions would be welcome ;b I had an idea of KYB shocks (there are a few types) I think this is the shock to go for on a budget, unfortunately they are not adjustable but they will do the job much better than stock I believe. I did pm someone from the KYB topic posted before, but no word from them yet, but they got their kyb set for £150, a cool price I would say, so anyone in N.I or UK know a good place to hook up some Kybs for the ep91 starlet, at a better price than Fensport u know who to pm or post here;b Also Koni adjustables would be a very big possibilty as they would benefit me more, so people with Konis, plese let me know more about them, if I saved a little longer.. ;b, anyone know where the best deals on Koni Adjustables are? Also can you take them off your old car and put them on your new car, or would they be knackered? And of course lowering springs, either Apex, Pi or TTE Lowering springs. Fensport springs anybody? If anyone can recommend any of these springs or have anything bad to say about them plz holla ;b Also I was thinking do TTE Springs only go 25mm lowered whereas Apex can go 35-40mm, what I mean is in that situation Apex would give me more bang for buck or would TTE be more quality becuase they are made by Eibach? Plz confirm this someone ;b it would be much appreciated! What would you go for, if you still had stock springs? OK Phil, after hearing yours and Shelly's experiences with GMax springs, I will not be touching them with a bargepole ;b! I like the idea of the D2s, as well as looking snazzy, they would be awesome I am sure, but as my car is standard I dont have much to brag about having not experienced any handling improvements/uncomfort yet. I noticed today, the starlet is ok on smooth or so so roads, but when you get to some town where it has really winedy (i can spell, but windy would sound like its the weather) roads and loads going on it kinda sucked, so I am looking forward to improving the handling a little on a small budget. Of course it does depend on driving skills too, but the stock handling is far too light, like some people say, its like a kid on a shopping trolley ;b Thanks for reading All. Looking forward to some useful info soon ;b & Soz for another awesome essay lol but this is the technical area so get technical ;b! Peace Out From Joz
  16. Hi Dave your still having trouble mate? Pm me your email and I will email you a simple w2 page word doc with screen shots I just made to help ya. It is basic, as this is a basic thing to do (downloading vid clips) so sorry if what I have written is exactly the same as what you did ;b Look forward to hearing from ya soon U must see these vids OK. Peace From Joz
  17. Hi All I am proposing new suspension for my starlet and wanted to know what ideas you have. The options I thought of are: Lowering Springs alone using standard shocks with either: Apex Lowering Springs Pi Lowering Springs TTE Lowering Springs (do these go any lower that 25 mm?) Eibachs (they are dearer tho) Shocks & Aftermarket Springs: Apex Suspension Kit KYB Shocks Bilstein Adjustables Koni Adjustables Please bear in mind that my car is not for track use, so she may not need coilovers but the ones I have been looking at are: D2s Tein TRDs Jic I have a medium budget £300ish so couldnt really afford d2s or teins, my main idea is to either use lowering springs that are safe enough to use on standard shocks or some uprated/gas shocks and lowering springs. Standard suspension at the moment is fine for normal driving, but of course for the look, getting here lowered by 35mm40mm safely is my desired result as my car is sitting quite high after the low profile tires and alloys were fitted. Any info would be great people ;b Cheers From Joz
  18. Hi Rich Soz for losing ya mate. I thought that you had removed the bug eye manifold ;b I was talking to WhiteStarlet and he told me about a local Jap Car Breaker (Beatties) so I am phonin them up 2morrow morning and if they got the manifold (which they had a few before Xmas im told) Ill fly straight over there. I am also going to phone up Funky and ask them abt ordering an Apexi, altho it is £110 the description says nothing about an adapter being included so thats what I gotta ask them. For the record I am sure I saw a wee add in funky for a special deal on Injen Heat Shields so I am gonna snap one of those up too if they are still about. Will a heat shield help me in this setup? Also do you think its worth getting an induction pipe made to relocate the cone somewhere else or do you think it wont make a difference? I see you have modified the standard cold air feed pipe on your engine, would I get away with leaving it alone, it doesnt seem like it will direct the cold air to the cone that way tho? Look forward to hearing from you soon! Cheers Again Rich From Joz
  19. Hi Dave For the vids to work you need either Quicktime installed on your pc or a similar media player that will play the video files. As for the vids themselves, you can either click on them to play them straight away (with a bit of loading) but its better to right click and save the target as... to save it onto your pc for future screening. Do your best because that last video clip is the mutts ;b Lol Hope that helps. Peace From Joz
  20. Hi Rich That is great info, thanks! I will check out the bug eye corolla manifold, but if anyone on the site can hook me up with one or have supplier info please let me know, it would be MOST appreciated! The part number would be useful, and my local toyota dealer is not too bad, they fitted my TTE backbox for me ;b I have TTE lowering springs ordered from them too, but for topic sake I will start that in another topic etc. So people who have or have had TTE lowering springs please check out my suspension topic asking for advice on specific springs/kits so I can hear you out ;b One Q I have for you Rich is, by replacing the standard starlet manifold with the bug eye corrola one, will it effect the engine or car in ways of not being able to handle it or anything like that in time? Any probs occurred while using the new manifold, because if it was like a rocket how come you removed it ;b It seems you are way happier with the standard airbox and uprated panel filter. And you can always put your old manifold back in right? I dont think the low rpm will be missed? Look forward to hearing from you soon man. Cheers From Joz
  21. Hi Phil That custom induction kit sounds special ;b Lucky you man! Lol, I am beginning to think its not easy to decide... K&N panel filter and oem airbox for driveability and full torque like scutch says or Apexi Induction Kit for sweet induction roar, less torque at low rpm/flat spots. Its so hard to decide ;b From Joz
  22. Hi Rich Its good to know other starlet fans burn the midnight oil too! I have decided I am after the Full Apexi Power Intake Kit (110 quid includes fitting bracket) and an Injen Heat Shield both from funky styling. But before I get these I have a few more things to ask, Im a bit of an essay king myself so ditto ;b lol I do understand now the difference an induction kit makes in a larger engine or turbo car such as the glanza. I have no idea where to get the bug eye corrola manifold and who to fit it, if I ask my toyota dealer they wud probably look at me funny and ask what the hell is for lol ;b But I sure am interested in it, and its proven so I guess nothing to lose and more to gain, you can always put the old one back can't you? But please confirm that... But I am sure they can fit the manifold for me (toyota dealer), I guess it would need to be professionally done? Last thing is, you said that the power would only come from high rpm, and all before that would be a loss in, or uneven torque and flat spots which i have never experienced. The question is would me adding just the apexi and the heat shield make my car run worse than standard driveability wise? I know you said that there would be uneven torque which again I havent experienced. Cheers for the ever so helpful info man! My 200 quid induction fund has to be spent wisely lol ;b And yea I know, I should have kept the k&n filter charger but it is 40 odd quid towards the induction kit which helps. It would be cool if you could reply. Much appreciated. From Joz
  23. Hi Gerard The dude you are looking for the wind deflectors is on eBay user id petes_parts. It seems he has not listed any for the 3 door 96 onwards starlet which are the ones I got! They are made in australia and sent from UK, and are both screw on and adhesive. At the moment he has only got the 5 door listed. Just email him on ebay if you want them, easy. 9.99 + 7.90 P+P bubble wrapped (huge long shaped box u get in the mail lol) A steal as they are normally more than this I believe. Looks the mutts and would look ace with a small personal decal or two I think ;b Hope that helps man! Hope someone can give me some more induction advice ;b Cheers From Joz
  24. Jozinobi

    Hello

Hi Scev Happy New Year to ya mate! I am new to the site as well too so happy modding! Make sure u check out the media bin for some glanza clips I found! U'll love it! Peace From Joz
  25. Hi Scutch Thanks for the useful info, a lot to take in but I think I understand more now ;b I am gutted because I just sent the uprated K&N filter back to k&n this afternoon ;b! Everywhere I read says that the airbox system restricts the engines breathing, but it does guarantee heat protected cold air flow. It is however the standard air filters fault that not enough air is being sucked in I believe? Does the uprated filter give any noticeable sound? I have no tacho unfortunately, but the cluster on ebay looks sweet, off topic but does anyone know if the starlet tacho cluster will fit directly into the non-tacho cluster starlet, anyone attempted this before? I still like the idea of the apexi technology, but its seems tho that its not as simple as buying the Apexi, removing my airbox and fit the apexi on is it? Please clarify a bit more, it would be appreciated as I had my heart set on the Apexi ;b such as the air flow meter (what u did with it when u had the cone filter on?) Also anyone else using just a cone filter with or without an induction pipe, please let me know how yours is going. WhiteStarlet was talking about the bug eyed corrola manifold, sounds tasty but I dont have much clue to its benefits? I am really looking forward to doing something with the air flow, but I want to do it right. I was going to post a suspension topic but it will have to wait til 2morra ;b Not to worry, it will be posted for sure as Induction and Suspension is my project right now and some ICE ;b Heres a pic of the wind deflectors I had put on today! U can only see the drivers side, soz if the pic is naff but it got dark quickly 2nite lol! Please check it out and let me know what u think! Cheers From Joz
