Yeah I know that, but what I am trying to explain...is that people are asking why he isn't getting a tougher punishment when he was doing 128mph..but as far as the courts are concerned he was doing 104!

The thing is, there isn't a dead set rule book for things like this. Personally I think there should be. If you caught doing over 100mph, you should get x amount of time ban. No matter what your circumstances are. Cause as far as I am concerned, if you lose your job through it it's your own fault. You risked it by doing them speeds!! Oh, and people keep mentioning that he should be punished more for doing 128pmh, but I am sure he said they only had proof at 104??

Alot of driving instructors don't actually take you on the motorway/dual carriage way at all when you are learning. Which I think is a key thing you should be learning. My instructor never took me on one, so they day I passed I got in my car and drove around the dual's to get used to driving on them. Because they are alot different to normal roads. Especially when pulling out to overtake etc. Many people miss judge the speed at which people are driving at behind them, and pull out in front of people. Least you've learnt ya lesson mate!

Yeah I do agree that it's a ridiculous amount for a car that old. And for a standard Clio. But there are people in this world, who go and buy something on finance without realising the total cost. He has probably just fell in love with the car, and decided that it doesn't matter about the cost and he can handle paying it. Doesn't seem like much of a punishment, I seriously thought you got alot more for going over 100mph. But I suppose you'll still get points, so that will be tough on insurance! Speed limits are speed limits, but everyone on this forum with a licence has gone over a speed limit on a road at some point. I do agree that it isn't nice that everyone is really slating him, because at the end of the day it was his decision and he will have to live with that if he decides that he made a mistake. The only thing that springs to my mind, is a Honda Civic or something alike. The thing is, under a grand usually means it won't be great condition unless your mega lucky! But Honda's are reliable, and normally cheap to run. Insurance is cheap also. And they can look nice with simple mods. Or again a Micra!
