This happened to me a few times in summer, car felt very sluggish
then i checked how hot the the intercoooler pipes were getting on the intake side. They were very hot, I couldn't touch them for too long
Mine were close to the radiator and absorbed the temperature.
i used a heat reflective lining which managed to cool the intake temp down and it didnt happen again.
Heat management is very important on turbocharged cars.
Ive become a bit obsessed with it now

Or filling the mounts with some tiger seal

Where do you think thr noise is coming from?

a nice refresh will be nice, these engine are getting old now.
while your at it get a race spec rocker cover with 2 breathers venting to a catch can.
-
nice review, as you have experience with piggyback it looks like i will have to seriously consider this.

Dont grease the top nut, its what makes it cone loose.
Had the same thing and I used thread lock on mine and its been fine since

If you start with an ep85 or ep95 i cant imagine it being too difiicult.
The four wheel drive platform makes it a lot easier

The ignitor braket is earthed to the firewall.
Make sure there is good contact

If the engine want to cut out when you spray the cleaner on the intercooler pipes, you have a leak. Check the pipes the holes and redo all the clamps tight.
Then re check with the cleaner, nothing should happen when cleaner is sprayed over the intercooler joints.

What size are the fitting AN8 or 10?

Clean out the throttle body and make sure the cable is not catching anywhere.
Lube the part that has the spring and make sure it flicks back fast and smooth
Also could check TPS to see if it needs calibration. Pretty easy to do.

Nice update,
been looking for a set of those headlamp protectors, bloody hard to find.
Good luck with the body work

How much power/torque are you running mate?

Check everything properly and use a genuine toyota release bearing.
Also i have seen some members have had a few issues with the spec clutches. Sometimes the slave cylinder other times release bearing failure.

I have apex springs and they are good road springs. Not too harsh and improve handling nicley, if you combine with a nice set of shocks then you will love it.

Little update since the weather was good. Cleaned and painted the LSD gearbox. Didnt want to do this but previous owner painted it black and i couldnt be bothered stripping all the paint off which would have been hard work.
Come out ok.
Hopefully more to come soon. Gotta get this thing on and start putting the car back together

It think cusco and ultra racing are the best ones and they are adjustable on car, whitleline you have to take off
-
Whitlenline paints does not last long at all, im painting mine right now. Going for black.
Also have to copper grease the threads and they seize easy.
-
The only way i reckon it is cost effective is to get a stronger gearbox from another car like what socks did with his 2zz conversion.

For the cavities like inside the door and seals you need waxoyl spray and you need to warm it up before using it. Best thing is to thin it down using white spirit. You wont need much
The the underbody you need to clean of the dirt. Using a good brush and elbow grease. I used a paint on waxoyl underseal. I bought a 2.5 litre tin and its way too much. 2 coats are good enough.
The underbody and arches and pretty good when it comes to corrosion on starlet, make sure you arch edges get good clean and coating.
The rear beam, petrol tank and wishbones rust the most in my opinion, so work hard on them. Ideally removing them and cleaning them up and then putting back in works well.
I used 2 coats of hammerite direct to rust paint in black and put 2 coats waxoyl coating on top. Checkout my thread if you want.

Thanks for all the info dude.
I wanted to know if you can get light blue window tint.
Like some factory avantgarde mercedes have them and old mk5 vw golf gti's also had them as well.
I cant find a window tinter that does them or even a place that sells it.
Thanks

How did you check the spark?
I would do a compression test.
