may seem trivial, but the runners on the jdm intake manifolds are bigger, the casting is ALOT better on the jap ones as opposed to the ones produced here.
i found an OLD ass SR badge from a KP on yahoo. its cheap and would be pretty cool on an SR. anyone want it? http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k36451674
it'll t-cut out, wheeey! in all seriousness though, that sucks a fat one. im not a fan of the new gtr, it looks gay. but its still a shame. they should have just used the G35 shell and made it a bit more aggressive. that is a lush car.
ill phone up JAM tomorow and ask if they have one knocking about. cant have you using a SS mani. and although the road runner manis are very good, Ivan is a cunt.
yeah ill ask him. i have a quaife diff for a starlet, its identical to the 8 bolt one i have for the 4e. but it has 6 holes. if it is for a NA, ill be selling it its just odd that its identical appart from the extra 2 holes.
do NOT put wd40 on a belt..... for one its flammable. and secondly because its a lubricant. why lubricate something where friction is critical. best cure for a squeaky belt is chalk.
i personally wouldnt. but thats me. i do not like hybrids, i think theyre shit. and it would last as long as you look after it. warm it up, cool it down, dont overboost it. etc turbos dont die, they are killed, remember that.
getting it overhaused would cost 300 odd quid i recon. easier to get a ready refurbished one. just keep your eyes open for them. one will pop up try to keep your eyes out for a CT9b turbo. it spools up a little faster than the ct9 on the older starlets like yours. so itll be a slight performance increase too.
it could be a minor leak on the turbo mate. it wont harm it unless it gets really bad and it dies (like mine did). i would consider looking for a replacement soonish though. because if it goes it will go suddenly.
coilovers are great if you drive on perfectly flat roads with no bumps. sadly enough i have never seen any roads like this... i ended up driving about uncomfortably at 20 mph with the coilovers and they only really seemed to perform well at about 70mph plus. the SR's are sporty, and coupled with the springs have a nice ride and handle well. add to that the anti roll bar and its a very good package. the old chavvy theory of stiff suspension is better handling is horse shit. its all about balance and dynamics. and ive got it very well tuned. it handles better now that it ever did on the D2s.
if its constant smoke, its probably the valve seals. the smoke will be blueish if it is only on decelleration (ie slowing down for a corner/roundabout) then its probably the turbo seals. if its blue its the impellor side, if its white its the exhaust side. my turbo lasted about 3 months when the seals went. take the pipe off the turbo and give it a wipe. see how much oil is in there. dont panic if there is a coating, but if its dripping out then you have a problem.
