  1. theyre genuine toyota denso's for the 4efte. anyone know what size gap the plugs should have? as i tried a 1.00mm feeler guage on one and it just fell thru it?? my guess is thats the gaps are at 1.10mm.
  2. ok i have got some new leads, and they made a small improvement... but nothing out of this world. also i got a picture of the burning on the plug... has anyone seen this before?
  3. i prefer the hks ssqv or greddy type s/rs greddy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FszbPFnxZKE everyone knows what the hks sounds like.
  4. si and phil owe me a pint i only got one vote!
  5. in regards to the gutted cat have you reset your ecu? if not take the battery terminals off for half and hour and put it back one and take her for a spin. mine was the same when i did mine.
  6. winter wheels progress ok guys i finally got my hands on a decent set of winter wheels. theyre one of my all time favorite wheel designs the OZ f1 cup! found at a steal of a price with brand new tyres and in very good condition considering the price. theyre et37 offset so theyre almost perfect, only problem is they have a 195/55/r15 profile... so im a little worried about clearance on the rear drivers arch as i have no adjustable panhard rod. pics: they will obviously be coming in for a refurb (as always) going to go a darker gloss charcoal colour i think... so instead of leaving ev
  7. me too buddy! one whole year on!
  8. i knew you'd be along soon enough phil
  9. ive got one of these that i go around every now and then.. in hemel hempstead. it doesnt feel right going round it the wrong way!
  10. no mate you misunderstand... the ceramic stem was burnt! i.e the bit that the lead clips over! no didnt bother with the gaps. but ive gotta admit now she feels much more lively. pulls hard and clean now... only thing im noticing now is that it feels like at higher revs its holding back (feels a bit like when you get near to fuel cut) but im only at .75-.8 bar. im assuming that its because the leads are buggered.
  11. ok guys, i had my spark plugs out today to see if there was any problems with the new plugs... it turns out that number 2 lead was covered in what appeared to be rust residue? pic below: the plug outa number 2 was covered in crap all in the washer and all down the thread too?? the others seem to be ok... just thought i'd post pics of how the plugs looked. i drenched the lead stems in maintenance spray (de watering fluid) and she did seem to idle a bit better... and when revved up it sounded alot less 'missfirey' is all i can describe it as... definitely felt alot more resonsive to dri
  12. im late AS USUAL! happy birthday shelly and mick!
  13. yeah, just won a set of alloys that im even more happy with than the set posted above. got at a good price too! as soon as i get them they'll be in for a refurb. what do ya think? glossblack for winter rims?? or something a bit more in ya face?
  14. cheers mate... in thought so too in regards to the wheels, they cost me £60 with good tires
  15. small DIY update been a bit bored lately so started another small project for the V. dash pod for 60mm and 52mm guages first i made up a sheet of fibreglass the shape of the dash i wanted to mount it on and found two tubes exactly the right size for the guages. next i covered the whole thing in fabric, then coated it in fibreglass resin to make a hard shell. next i hit it with some filler to smooth out all the creases and then sanded it down to give a smooth finish and lastly sprayed it up (in primer for the minute) plus a pic of it in place. its actually fitted atm, as i
  16. done a engine diagnostic check which came back all clear.
  17. by the way, i really appreciate everyones imput... its nice that i feel like im getting somewhere now!
  18. i have reset the ecu only last month. might have to give the thermo a try. tempted to save up a bit and take it to dave burwash if the thermostat doesnt work... i think it was a 2000 reg so about 115bhp polo. the only way i can describe how it feels is: it ticks over perfect... at about 800-900rpm and i boot it i get the turbo kick in and theres a gobfull of torque (probably not as much as everyone else) and it pulls but it kinda feels faster than it actually is... it feels like its running on three but without the poor idling if you know what i mean? it runs out of power just after 6k. im g
  19. tyres are checked once a week generally. no extra weight. its had new: dizzy plugs rotor arm fuel filter airfilter oil & filter new front discs & pads checked all the gaskets and pipes off the turbo including vacum lines and there seems to be no boost leak. my main issue is the performance... i know ive been bitching about it being under power for ages, but i should have surely destroyed that polo gti the other day?
  20. im pretty stock at the mo. no aftermarket fpr, just exhaust system, bov, and smashed out cat running .8 bar not had the thermostat done yet, as i hadnt noticed it taking ages to come up to temperature. the needle sits just a tiny bit below half way even when driving at high speed. ive ran it up checked the bottom hose and its cold and the top hose is hot... left it for a little while longer and the bottom hose is warm, so surely the thermostat is ok? things to test and check would be great as im loosing patience with it at the moment.
