cheers buddy. keep your eyes peeled for a update in a few weeks. it'll take alot more than lack of power to stop me fidiling! nope still not found the problem, its a pure mystery, as the car runs perfectly, it just doesnt seem to have that power. yeah, ive been in two minds about buying one for ages, but i found one brand new for just £20, so i just thought, sod it, i'll chance it. i have no problems to report as of yet and i shall keep my eye on it. cheers for the heads up anywho well actually the system made a little difference, but its still not rapid... i got done by a 1.8

a small update for everyone (at last!) got a video of my exhaust finally. . . http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v616/scu...nt=MOV00086.flv also fitted my new bov. its a copy of a greddy type rs, looks absolutely identical bar the name on it! heard a video of an original and it sounds identical too!! no vids as of yet tho. i had to make a bung for the hole where the original recirc bov was fitted, so i got a spare of paul w (cheers mate) and chopped all the important bits off, but left the engine breather where it was and was left with this... then i filled the air pathway with

sorry bud, i run it on esso super with a bottle of octane boost. i also ran it on v power for a while but i didnt see a massive difference apart from mpg. i have a lamda on my spare cat, but its from a gt... are the connections the same??
-
yeah, thats fine by me but the mechanic im using is telling me that he'll have to cat test it unless i can come up with the vosa details that say it doesnt!
-
bump on this... whats happened to the thread posted further up? as i need the info to show my mechanic who's doing the mot in a few weeks!
-
the exhaust fumes currently stink of fuel.... could the lamda sensor be bringing it down on power??
-
yeah, i figured that being a newer engine it should be in better nick! possibly, was coming to jae, but it looks like i have holiday booked over it... what other meets are gonna be about this year? @ rick: dunno if a cracked wastegate would cause that... maybe, i havent had the turbo off to check! anyone got any ideas? it holds .8 bar perfectly or if its warm outside it sits at .75

boost is de restricted. and it was de restricted on the V i drove.
-
im still getting no closer...... cheers anyway guys.
-
unless its internal, no. checked all hoses off the intake mani, ive had the boostpipe off and cleaned, both tmic hoses have been replaced and ive replaced both sets of clips for heavier duty ones, throttlebody gasket is ok. it holds at a steady .8 bar so i dont think its leaking as it was leaking when i first got it which i sorted.

ok guys, i think a few of you are aware of my 98 glanza v's down on power situation, but for those who dont know, here goes: shortly after buying my glanza i drove a 97 glanza which was at the importers where i bought the car from, (the reason i drove it was because i wanted its suspension) it felt way faster and pulled much harder than my v, so i had a look and it turned out to be as standard as mine, ecu was standard, no decat ect. after that i heard that the 98-99 v had a restricted ecu, so i bought a 96 ecu fitted it and it made no difference even after letting the car reset. i have been

ok, cheers for the help everyone. i'll let you all know how i get on tommorrow. ive also got a dizzy cap and rotor arm to fit so hopefully this will solve my long unsolved loss of power!?

@ paul: ok cool, do you know if i need to get the disc off with a hub puller?? or does it come off ok? @si: yeah you did buddy, nice one. youre a legend!
-
disaster has struck. ive noticed that somewhere on my travels a rear wheel stud has completely sheared off! i think ive got the part number, but does anyone know whats involved in changing these? apparently theyre pressed into the rear disc, is this true? is there anything i should be aware of when doing this? Rich.

i dont think you can, other wise people would be going out and buying new ones. i looked for one of these for ages, they go for about £50 on ebay some times. fortunately for you i have one, but its seen better days, its been rebacked a few times now is black and illuminates white plus the previous owner changed the standard wiring loom for one that takes dash bulbs. pm me if your interested.

a scooby in my opinion is a poor mans evo. they do sound pretty nice though, but theyre common as fuck round here.
-
what was quicker? the glanza or the punto?
-
PMSL @ streetracer lol yeah, my parents have been using the comp and it automatically signs me into msn! thanks guys, good to be back! geo, the site just has loads new names i dont reconise, and loads of new functions and sections!
-
i should also have a nice little update soon.
-
its good to be back. by the way, if i ignored anyone on msn the other night im sorry, but it was my old man on the computer and not me!
-
hey people. thought i'd let everyone know that my internet is back up and running, so i should be on the site abit more often now. its been wierd not coming on here all the time. its good to be back! site looks alot different though! Rich.

good info joz. the glanza s is the same as the 4efe we use here with four differences. -inlet mani -ecu (with higher rev limiter) -bigger injectors -distributorless ignition throttle body is the same. (i had a good poke around a S at the importer where i got my V from!) the only other main difference is the fact that the japs use 105ron fuel of corse! but all in all. standard exhaust system is good for the rev range youve got. open it out too much and you face having most of your power on or past the limiter.
-
ok well there are a few reasons i can think of, but i just put it this way, the 100bhp n/a's and glanza s out in japan use this mani. along with a higher rev limit. and after changing mine over i would never go back. i changed mine back over when i had mot last year, and i could tell the difference. it has much better bottom end response, i think this is due to the shorter runners. but the rolla mani was so much better in every other situation and just made the car much more fun to drive. i really dont care about actual bhp gains. its nice for bragging rights, but i prefer a car that i enjoy
