Poly-Bushing your OEM Front ARB, what do you need?
Amjad replied to Amjad's topic in Chassis & Suspension
So I finally managed to fit the Poly-bush kit yesterday: -Fresh drop-links and nuts -Poly-bushes for drop-links -Poly-bushes to replce the 20mm arch bushes near centre of front ARB Before.. Old vs New After.. Wow what a difference they've made! 1. Firstly noticed that the ride is so much smoother, was totally not expecting this as I thought it'd be harsher. And on PI springs it's bad enough already, so it was a nice surprise! 2. May be a placebo effect, but I think the car pick up speed a bit more sharply, might be because there's less flex so more power transferred to the road/more efficiently? 3. Handling setup is OEM front brace, Cusco rear brace, PI springs, Whiteline ALK & Whiteline RARB with Toyo T1R tyres. With this lot I feel the car did handle well, but the front end did roll quite a bit in cornering. The bushes have improved it sooo much! Handles a LOT flatter changes direction more smoothly, and I can easily go through a certain roundabout 5-10mph quicker than before. It's got rid of the skittishness and hint of understeer that was there before and the car is even more of a joy in the bends I don't think I've reached the full potential of the setup yet either, I tested the car with high tyre pressure (that I run for economy), one wheel has a bit of +ive camber that I need to sort and I think the car could still push more speed through the corners. Better tyres would certainly help too, I'm planning to get Uniroyal Rainsport 2s in the future as I reckon the tyres are letting it down a bit. All in all the bushes have made a HUGE difference, and for £50 I reckon its a MUST DO mod. I think they made about as big of an impact as a RARB, definitely worth the money Amjad -

Whip off the caliper, two 12mm bolts I think..then wedge the old pads out with a flathead..copper grease the new ones, slide them in and reverse the previous instructions

Weird, my EP91 set has hex bolts

best way to buy a gt or glanza and insure it

That guide should cover most of it, if you do go down to see one, give us guys on the BBM group a shout if you need any help/advice -
Gutted for ya mate I really liked this car Onwards and upwards though eh
-
Yeah it's quite simple, takes a bit of time the 1st time though. If your new inlet had the rubber spacer thing that holds the throttle cable it should be fine as mine was
-
It went okay on mine, not impressed at the fact they've changed them to allen style bolts though! Yet to fit it to the GT..
-
You'd do well to get some fresh TB/Inlet and Inlet/Head gaskets, and the vacuum just needs to be longer, I used windscreen washer hose

Can't believe how quiet that sounds haha, sounds nice and healthy though I love a G6 box, what's next? -
Awesome, can't wait to get fitting these then! Thanks guys!
-
Sweet so there's definitely an improvement to be made with the GT brakes? ;) Will my Greenstuff NA pads fit the GT calipers?
-
Cheers fellas ;) Hope its not too awlward to do on my drive as I had access to a ramp last time

Just like my other build thread, completely forgot to check for replies haha Thanks James! Nah people say to get a square one but I don't like it covering the foglight bit. Even though I don't have a foglight. Yes, I am weird lol Cheers dude, not bad for a 16yo car! And as Ryan said they don't show up well in pics tbh! Yeah that one point was probably just when I let off to see the oil temp didn't rise too much! Gutted for the 1st session but glad it was nothing major! Roll on next year Cheers Matt, yeah I need to get it done at some point haha! I think it just didn't hold because of the engine bay temps that day! Thanks John! Yeah it was a little slidey but people have said that may have been because of my Megs tyre gel haha, me and my clean cars ;) Also didn't really have the tyre pressures done properly, I just let a bit of air out. Hoping to have Uniroyal Rainsport 2s on next time which I hear are a better tyre even in the dry! Cheers Craig! Was good to be on track with you, you left me haha. And YES! I've been wanting to do one sooo bad, but the car is now SORN'ed until I can afford to put it back on the road perhaps July 2012 Thanks Ryan! Was good to see you again Thanks Liam! No worries mate next time eh! Cheers Dan! You too! Thanks bro! I have planted an evil seed in your head now haha! Don't you DARE think of getting a VTAK! So the car was SORN'ed as of July, as I paid for a year's insurance on the NA up front. Hoping I can insure it next year when I'm 22 with 2NCB, but I also need to sort out an economy issue..I've heard of a few TD04 owners getting very good mpg from their cars, and I'm sure something must be hindering my piddly CT9! There's a slight noise coming from the back end, as if the brakes are being gently applied up to about 25mph, so I'm thinking the caliper sliders are probably a bit sticky! Also I haven't had the wheel alignment done since I bought the car, so that may be affecting the car's economy too. I'll be getting that done once I fit the PI springs and Whiteline ALK. Apart from that the car is A-Okay but I need to get those two bits sorted as I struggle to get 130km from £20 of fuel! Amjad

Cheers Rob! I was hoping there's a bit of a difference, really need better brakes on the NA lol

A lot of people have said the pink wheels suit the GT more, but I realllly want to spray the GT calipers pink against black wheels. And yeah it's the combination of bad light and my brother HTC camera that makes it look black lol I usually use my mums cam to take pics Thanks to you James haha! Thanks man, I forget how loud this thing is! Haha thanks dude, totally forgot about that, PM coming Cheers Jonny! Wow a swap for a Glanza S! ;) Nah can't make it to JAE unfortunately, next show is likely to be anything following June! Anyhoo been getting used to the 100bhp deficit this has from the GT lol but loving it nonetheless! -Found my Front ARB polybushes after MONTHS so hopefully getting them fitted asap so looking forwards to seeing what difference they make! -Also thinking of fitting the GT calipers and discs to this, anyone know if they're any bigger than NA ones? As NA brakes are pants! Amjad -

Totally forgot to check this thread until now! Thanks guys for the nice words! Too kind guys really, thank you :] -
I've got some Front ARB polybushes that I've found in the house and it's been a long time since I had my FARB off. Would fitting the poly bushes necessitate getting the wheels re-aligned? (As a result of removing other suspension components) Amjad
-
I've recently converted my GT to run the GT4 braking setup, and was wondering if there would be any benefit to fitting the stock calipers and discs to my NA Would there be any benefit at all, I'm sure GT brakes are slightly bigger? Amjad
-
Dunno dude we fitted everything in that kit to my GT and it works perfectly!

That's a bit night and day comparing ephedrine to paracetamol lol. The latter of which has virtually no side effects, whereas the former can cause heart arrhythmias, hypertension, etc..my point it's a risk I would personally not take but read up and decide for yourself
