  1. *** Update *** Other day i managed to get the fully adjustable rear arms on the car with. Look loads better and now mean i have a greater amount of adjustment available, plus they are rose jointed so loads better than the original ones. Well the buggy is now with ToyotaGT awaiiting fitment of the 4EFTE While i was there i got the engine rebuilt, didn't bother cleaning up too many bits as paint/powdercoat will enevitablly get chipped etc when the engine is being fitted/moved etc. Anyway here are a few more pictures.................. picking up the car Turning up at ToyotaGT Rebuilt engine with candy red bits The GT isn't scrapped yet so now the buggy is parked up next to it, soon there will only be 1 car here Not really much i can do while the buggy is at ToyotaGT so im going to spend the next month or 2 reading through the IVA manual and working on a bit here and there. Will be up at ToyotaGT every other saturday seeing whats going on and helping out! I have left them with a digital camera so hopefully they may take a few pictures as they get the engine in the car, as always i will keep you all updated Jason
  2. Looks like a keeper to me! Loving the wheels, look lush.
  3. LOL. Been looking at that for the last few days. Still needs ALOT of work though, this is the guy that was developing this so i decided against going the motorbike engine route as one was already in production. Im pretty certain that it will be bought by someone on the freestyle forum as the Freestyle has now stopped production, so is rare as rocking horse poo! I still think the 4EFTE route is best, but i would say that Not long now and the 'Demon' is off to have the engine fitted
  4. Just had a little look through this! Dam that car is SWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. Jason
  5. Cool. No worries, im not in a rush so whenever you get the bits.........i have plenty to do
  6. There will be a place near you that will be able to acid bath the rocker cover for you. Other parts i can get sand blasted for you mate but can't do the rocer cover as its not a good idea mixing sand blasting with parts that come into contact with engine oil. Just in case some sand gets left somewhere......
  7. I can easily do it for you mate if you provide the parts and pay the £7.99 for the powder, can't gaurantee it will be 100%. Might be worth getting the parts acid bathed as well so they are nice and clean also.
  8. Not too sure about the colour mate, we have a powdercoating machine at work and just got some candy red powder through the door with it. I can always powdercoat a small piece and send it to you so you can get a colour match??? Kind of wish i did it in blue rather than red now, but i guess red is more evil Jason
  9. Thanks for the reply's guys. Just looked at when i started the thread.....march 1'st, so maybe its not going slow...... Like to go into a bit of detail with the build threads as it shows how much work is going into this thing, most people will just look at the 'demon' (almost got that wrong then Galliano ) and won't realise how much work goes into it. anyway............ *** Update *** Got up to ToyotaGT yesterday and spent the day stripping bits off the engine to clean up and paint/powdercoat etc while i have some time. Got the rocker cover, inlet manifold and fuel rail, along with some other bits and bobs. The buggy is going up to have the engine fitted in two weeks time (can't wait, its finally hapening :shifty: ) so i have till then to get the bits done and when i drop the buggy off i will refit them to the engine then. I also have one caliper to finish off and the rear adjustable toe arms to make for the back of the car and look at front arch mounts if i get time before it goes up to TGT. Anyway today i started work on the fuel rail. Yesterday i gave it a quick sand blast to clean the majority of the muck off and it ended up something like this........ Completely broke it down to pieces and powdercoated some of the parts in candy red, as thats one of the few colours we have at work..... Powdercoated some of the brackets i have as well as one of the turbo pipes in the same colour.......... I think the colour on the fuel rail parts will be fine but i don't know about the other parts, i have ordered some hi chrome and gun metal powders so i will probably redo the brackets and turbo pipe and then do the rocker cover and inlet with the gun metal powder. Started polishing the fuel rail but because of its shape its extremely fiddly so may just powdercoat it with the chrome Jason
  10. Sam, Think i may have to pull out of this, sorry mate! Im pretty tight for cash at the moment with building the beast and i don't want to jinks the build by booking this up before the thing is built. It should easily be ready for then but if something goes wrong during the build then things may get tight on cash and time Jason
  11. Sounds like a plan then ;) Do we need to give registrations of cars? Reason i ask is that the buggy is not road legal (yet) and if it looks like the weather will be bad then i may bring something else! its late in the year that the weather may not be suitable for the buggy! what with no doors, windscreen, roof etc. don't want to get wet!
  12. No rush mate ;) Good things come to those who wait, or something like that! most important thing to do is work on getting back to full health, the mods can wait............for the moment Jason
  13. Thanks mate, they look good in the pictures but they look soooooo much better in real life! can't wait to get the full set on there Today im going to work on stripping down the engine and getting parts ready for polishing/powdercoating/painting etc. ;) Going for polished rocker cover and inlet mani and then candy red and blue powdercoated parts. Going for these colours as it will match up with the oil cooler joins that come in red/blue colour. These are going to be done over the next 2 weeks and then the Starlet is going to the scrappy. Then the engine is going to be roughly put back together so it can be fitted. Im currently working on the rear adjustable toe arms, it will then have uprated adjustable camber/toe arms all round! The 'Demon' is then going to TGT 2 weeks today to have the engine fitted, won't be able to do much while its there as doesn't leave me much to work on down here. However im on friendly terms with the mechanic so will be going up there every saturday to help him out and bring the cost of the conversion down slightly Jason
  14. Fine from now on i will refer to it as simply the 'demon'. Was going to buy the rears but like i have said im not 100% certain i will be using the mini hubs, and 13's won't fit on the starlet hubs if i use them! If i use starlet hubs i will be getting the same style wheels but in 14's (image wheels can make them for me ) Jason
  15. Hi, Im very very interested in this. Just one quick question, can i bring something that technically isn't a starlet???? It has a 4EFTE engine in it (or will do) but its not a starlet. Jason
  16. Really like the Civic coupe's, and i mean really like them ;) I was after one for about 6 months but couldn't find the right one, then found out it was cheaper to ensure a Lexus IS200 than it was one of these so i bought the lex! A bit of me still wish's i bought one of these though Looks like you got a tidy one though, looks pretty unmolested Will be watching for updates with envyous eyes Jason
  17. *** Small Update *** Dropped the wheels and tyres off with a mate last night and then he dropped them off fitted this morning at 6:30am, legend! So on my lunch break i got them fitted, what a difference!!!!!!! :whistling: Before.......... one done......... and both on......... Completely changes the look of the car now, looks so mean! Just a shame i have to put arch's over them ;) Jason
  18. Really? I think its going slow, well seems it to me Just really want it done, probably makes me think its dragging...................................... ;)
  19. *** Rims and Rubber *** Well as i have been working on the front end recently i decided to buy the wheels for the front so i can start looking at making the arch mounts. The existing ones i have are buggered so i need to get some new ones made. Decided to get some slicks on the car for the moment for a few reasons, going to be doing some track days before the car is road legal and these are so much cheaper than the road tyres i will be using. Picked up 2 part worn michelin racing slicks from ebay for £40 delivered (bargain!!!!!!!). Toyo R888's are roughly £60 each but no point in buying them yet if the car is going to be sat about doing nothing! Then friday the 2 front wheels turned up Would have got a full set but im not 100% sure if i will be using the mini hubs on the front. The wheels i got are the Superlight deep dish 13x7 inch with -7 offset £140 for 2 wheels delivered also got a set of chrome wheel nuts from the bay. Have been trying to get my mate to fit the tyres but he has been too busy so haven't had a chance yet But hopefully get them done soon and on the car. Saturday i managed to get over to TGT and look at the engine, looks mint and im going up there next weekend to rip a few bits off the car and get them sand blasted/powdercoated/painted/polished etc. What you guys think of the wheels??? Jason
  20. The rear subframe comes awy from the car by taking 4 bolts out. They will get it fixed to that and then connect it back up to the buggy, if it fouls on anything then the frame will get modified to allow for extra room. Im not 100% certain how its going to work out. I do know that the engine will still be mounted the same way round and looking at the buggy the turbo will sit directly behind/betwwen the seats so should be able to hear the thing spool up a treat
  21. I was being serious, if its running i will take you for a spin in it. Luckily the setas im getting are just moulded fibreglass with no padding etc, so should just wipe clean
  22. I knew you would have some comments Sod signing it, i will take you for a spin in the thing at JAE if your there? Just won't be able to go on any public roads Jason
  23. *** Little update **** Well today i thought it was time to turn a little bit of my attention towards the GT, about time i actually looked over it i guess. All i have done with this car is pick it up drop it off with ToyotaGT and take a few pictures. Well when i got there the car looked like this............ Im sure there is meant to be something here but couldn't work out what it should be????? Mess................ Decided to have the car lowered..........here is the outcome They took the engine out over 2 weeks ago! They said they had a little look at it and on first impressions it seemed to be in a pretty good state. Its currently sat in the workshop waiting a good clean down next week before the real fun begins. He said it took about 2 and a half hours to get the thing out of the car as the smashed front was in the way. While i was there we both had a good look over the engine and it all looks good, there is a small crack in the manifold but this will be sorted later. There is a real small bit of play on the turbo but nothing im worried about. He did a leakage test on each cylinder and they all came out with around a 33% leak. This involved connecting a gauge up to a compressor and checking each cylinder in turn. any thing up to a 40% leak is acceptable and within the green part of the gauge so all is fine for the moment. When the car is running this will equate to about a 0.005% leak so will be fine. Going to get the engine in the car pretty much as it is and not worry about changing clutch etc at the moment as there is alot of work ahead of us getting the thing in the car. As always i will keep people updated when i can. Thoughts??? Jason
  24. Can do a glanza version but need a cheap speedo cluster to butcher first. Not expensive, its a knock off, got it cheap but it looks like a rolex
  25. Hi All, Had a bit of interest from a friend with a GT about making a set of stainless dials for the EP82. I don't know if many people would be interested in these but let me know your thoughts??? I have made several different designs for the lexus is200 and have a spare EP82 speedo so can easily get a set made up that will fit 100% perfect, you will not need to remove the dials to fit these as they slip over them, nearly any design can be made and a full set of stainless dials will cost about £50-60 depending on set up charge. Here are a few pics of ones i have done for te lexus, the rising sun ones below are my actual dials What do people think??? Jason
