big part of it running different will be the temps we get here in aus too bud, but running itb's u will always have trouble with vac lines and a lack of vac to run a map sensor also, so it will be reading a lower amount of vac and over fuel it straight up
hi
thanks surely the temp doesn`t change the vac , i know there is a lowering of vac from my research but this has no manifold or tank to help offset this ( any ideas on how to relieve this issue ,i can`t seem to find anything positive about how to fix this )
the microtech is proving a most unsuitable unit to tune without a firmware up-grade to set fuel as i understand that the ECU needs to beable to be set using the TPS rather than the MAP settings or a combo of both
so another ECU might be my next up-grade to sort fuel

what would you like to know?
hi
if you have a set-up that works would you share the technical side of your set-up
my problems areas
1 the cone air filters are too small &choke the air supply ( how did it function originally)
2 it was supposed to be running on a std ECU on a 5e ( i have tried to tune-on a microtech need new firmware so how did iit run well on a std ECU)
3 noticeable lack of vac supply ( so brake booster doesn`t work so well )
why did the set-up seem to work in the UK but i need to do some work inc possiblely another more ITB friendly ECU to get it happening in australia
it runs but not well & power gains were not anything to write home about
these originally belonged to steed . he has helped & answered all my queries so i`m not bagging the previous owner .
he wasn`t able to give me any indication on before &after HP figures so i`m in the dark there as to what to expect
what can possibly be the variable b/tween the 2 countries ???
i am slowly replacing the h/ware ie air cleaners / fitting a vac manifold etc
thanks for any thing you share

hi
as the title says i have a set-up currently & having a hard time getting it to run the way i bought it ( it was suipposed to be from a working car )
no critisism of previous owner he has been extremely helpful
i would like to talk / share with owners who have a set-up that functions well
or is it a tried unit that no-body likes ??
thanks for any useful info that i can get

hi
i`ve been following this thread &anything else about this manifold/ T/B swap that has suddenly replaced the rolla mani/ t/b combo as the must do for a N/A starlet .
i always thought the rolla mami &7afe t/b combo was largerthan the STD N/A one & same as the FTE one anyway
so how does the FTE mani do it better than the corolla one apart from larger b/fly size
haven`t seen any HP comparisons done b/tween the corolla one & the FTE i only managed about 6 HP on the rolla up-grade what will the fte /T/B up-grade produce ??? does any one know for sure
i may have to go back to a mani/ t/b set-up

hiim having this crazy idea of running bike ITB's on my EP91 N/A starlet someday . it will be alot of work and machining to make it work. i like the idea though.any thoughts.
cheers
i bought a working set from the UK & fitted with head &cam/shafts didn`t get the HP increase i was led to believe was possible(current 89HP ATW) but i haven`t given up will play some more
i haven`t driven it yet since tuning so cam`t even tell you what it drives like

hi
thats the wiring( the red/white) i want all the wiring that has anything to do with the no plate surround probably cut the other side of that white plug pictured with enough wire to join to existing loom
i nearly missed your reply
did that price inc. postage ???

Hello all,
Have just had my rocker cover power coated,
Recieved it back and re-fitted to car with new Rocker Cover gasket, drove down the motorway and checked engine, noticed theres oil coming from the spark plug wholes.
Is there supposed to be another gasket for the spark plug wholes?
any info much appreciated
cheers
hi
the spark plug tubes have a seal on the inside the tappet cover that they push into when cover is fitted
did you put them back ??

As I understand it. The calipers are from a celica GT4 st185, and so are the pads. And the discs are from a BMW e30 318 (260mm and bolt patterns are 4x100mm, disk thickness 22/21mm, vented) hat/offset =35mm
Is this correct? The part number for the dics, is it for original discs or some other make?
I am, maybe going to try this, it all depends on how much I can get the calipers for.
rda make the disc `s in australia so what ever co you have over there should be able to cross reference them to there part no

Hi Lyle
My set made up by threepot many moons ago.
I never fitted the setup and went have since went FTE.
Its the fueling you need to sort and even an emanage does not have enough adjustment, standalone would be best.
Which area/s are you having issues with?
Joz
there seem`s to be a drop in vac
the tuner advised that the small cone filters fitted are choking the set-up
i also have a fueling issue but i don`t know what influence it had on power it seems that if you richen in 1area it leans somewhere elsew istn`t enough adj in software i`m running a microtech LT-10
do you know what gains i can expect ?? i only got 10%
i need to know the critical length of runners so i can tidy up set-up
i thought i would construct an airbox with trumpets i want to know what is critical in this ?? (the cone filters are so noisy when it hits the power band )
any info you can offer is appreciated
who else has done any development with ITB`s??

Joz is going to be fitting individual throttle bodies on his 5efe soon.
Isn't easy though, as a lot of work to make the setup, plus obviously need proper management as the air/fuel ratios need to be right as with throttle bodies a lot more air will be getting into the engine.
Overall, isn't cheap, although not sure on what gains will be achieved, because as far as I know Joz will be one of the first people to have it done.
(plus you will need to have supporting mods to make the most of it - exhaust mani and exhuast etc)
hi
did Joz buy a set-up from steed or is he going it alone
i`ve just finished fitting a set brought from steed who originally had them fitted to a 5E-FE i believe . i acheived a miserly 10% HP gain but i have some issues with the set-up & would love to talk to someone who has a similiar set-up to compare votes

hi not to sure how far along you want it but i have a picture and if its this part you after can do it for 30 pounds

What would be the likely total cost of this kit?
hi
not sure on parts supply over there . but in oz calipers 2nd hand =$200 +o/haul kit $70
disc $240 pr
engineering ???depends on whether you can do it your self
rough guide only

On my NA but hey
hi
nice touch i would like one of these
lyle
who is currently using ITB`s on aN/A ???
in Intake, Turbo & Exhaust
Posted
1) you could run them without filters or make up an air box for them what diameter are the ports? i am going to put some socks on temporary i have an airbox planned with a BMC filter as soon as i get time to fabricate
2) is it the same gen ECU? may have a different map or something?? i had my microtech re-tuned but with the problems i had the result was dismissal
3) not sure how the vac is set up but when i was reading up about itbs i got the general impression it was best to use one of the old injector ports to give the brake booster its own vac line instead of sharing with the map/frp etc on this set-up the 4 runners are t-pieced &joined to the MAP sensor & b/booster . i am going to tidy the hoses & manifold the set-up to try & stabilise the vac
4) for now can you not try a SAFC and rrfpr combo to get the fueling right? this was the route i was going to go if microtech don`t modify the unit to tune fuel correctly i going to take the plunge & replace it with a unit that will fuel the ITB`s correctly instead of the mess i have currently
the runner length might not be mathmatically correct but is apparently somewhere near the mark to keep power at the lower to mid range as opposed to further up the range with a shorter runner i may well shorten slightly if i re-build the mani to address clearance issues should they arise when airbox is fabricated
everything i`ve been able to read on subject seems to have short slightly -angled runners so will see
thanks lyle
