It's all good Lyle! I dunno what your ATF figure would be like, is there any way of finding out what the rough transmission loss is like on N/As?

Looking at the figure you achieved, it looks a new Exhaust mani/decat setup would clearly be far more effective once mapped on aftermarket management. The thing I found is that when I got my exhaust done, the K&N was obviously way too restrictive as I now have a bigger outlet for exhaust gases, the Apex'i intake helped with response & especially top end a LOT more.

That's why I'm kinda confused as to how you've managed to get such a decent figure, especially as new headers & decat would improve your outlet flow even further! I know you have a bigger TB but still the Airbox wouldn't be as free flowing as a cone, which I reckon would suit your setup even more than mine? I did try fitting a 1.6 4afe TB, but had problems with the TPS so didn't bother! ;)

I do appreciate 4efe tuning, but I think boost is definitely the way forward with this project! A fast response Turbo using a Plug & Play ECU kicking between 200-220bhp is what I'd like to eventually achieve!

  2. hi

it seems i have touched a nerve with some of you

1st the fiile has been converted so i could post in reply

in australia the dyno measures HP as KW @the wheel , i just photoshoped file to show you the eq figure to compare not to annoy

a dyno in australia can only estinate flywheel HP approx 30%

only an engine dyno can give a more accurate figure in australia

this graph was only to adjust settings after fitting manifold &T/B

i did my mods in stages ea adj giving a better figure than the last

sorry again for upsetting any body

    lyle

  3. Cheers for the comments people!

    hi amjad

don`t mean to hi jack your thread i am N/a owner using similiar mods but better gains

    - Apex'i Filter w/Alloy induction pipe & Cold air feed std airbox

    - Corolla inlet manifold same with rolla T/B

    - 2" Cat-Back Exaust system (Straight through) 2in full stainless +extractors

    eng. management

    see last dyno run dynosheet1.jpg

    these figures are ATWheels

you can expect a little extra with al ittle more tweaking

a fine result none the less

  4. so... the 4efe in my ep95 uses a coil pack, can it be used on the fte? would there be any difference to the dizzy?

    hi

if this is fitted to a N/A starlet , what is involved in swapping to another motor

how availiable would the major bits be ???

would it just plug&play or would the wiring looms be different b/tween the N/Astarlets

this would be a good mod on a N/A starlet if it could br done without much hassle

    lyle

  5. It's pissing me off it's the only thing that needs doing on the Starlet before it can go up for sale.

The longer it takes me to sell it the longer it takes before I can put the CRX on the road. :(

Tried loads of car part websites and having no luck!

hi can price them in australia if you are desparate don`t know what there worth from dealer

    lyle

  6. My Starlet needs a new handbrake cable to pass the MOT so I'm going to just replace both of them, camskill has them but it says turbo, I'm guessing they should still fit though?

    hi

disc & drum cables are different they have different ends onthe back-end

    lyle

  7. yes disc spacers are required i have a set of st202 calipers to put on my gt (single pot) and i got my spacers made up at west of scotland engineering but any engineering outfit near you would be able to do this for you.

my only problem now is getting the longer wheel studs anyone know where to get them ? (sorry for hi-jack lol)

    hi

buy aftermarket /or on e-bay toyota don`t make them

    lyle

  8. i think lyle is talking about a spigot ring to locate the brake disc on the hub like what you get with aftermarket alloys plus when you put a spacer behind the disk it will space everything out so you wheels might catch on the arch if im wrong let me know but i dont think i am.

    hi

that is right . i didn`t want any extra load on the wheels studs that is why i searched for a spacerless alternative . just so happens the disc i found required a spigot ring instead

    lyle

  9. ahhh, cool. cheers guys. i was a little worried for a miute that i just bought summit that wont gona work!!!lol. ive ordered some 3mm spacers like enzos post states so ill just get a grinding stone and take a little off the outside edge. Ill try it with the spacer first as i dont have the money for new discs at the mo, ive got some really good condition st185 discs for a tenner so ill drill them and use them for now, then when they need changing ill get the discs T.Q.A recomended.

the fto upgrade i did used 10mm washers to space the brake disc out so i reckon even the 3mm spacer will be alot safer.lol.

    hi

just remember every mm you space it takes whee&disc futher away from the hub &then they are sitting onthe wheel studs only not what iwould say is a safe way to have a wheel mounted on a car but see how you go .

    lyle

  10. cool. adapter to fit? 66mm to 55mm? were about is it your talking about? if the spacer between the hub and inside of the brake disc, it shudnt put any more load on the wheel studs shud it? as its just spacing the disc to the middle of the caliper? the discs offset will still sit on the hub tightly just 3mm further away? surely 3mm wont cause a massive load problem? ill just have to pop the new caliper and hanger on when i get them and check its all ok. i thought the write up enzo did hed actually fitted them with the set up suggested and im guessing he got it to work? ive pm's him but hes really busy so as soon as ive spokent to him ill let you know what he suggests too.

hi the adapter is just to size the disc to fit the hub dia centre hole . the disc i suggested should fit straight on without the need for spacers to centre disc in to the caliper( i fouhd the std celica didn`t do this )i also wanted to avoid having the wheels sit only on the studs i sat the std disc inside the celica caliper when fitted &moved it around until it was central in the caliper the difference was exactly the thickness of spacer thus i reduced the offset/ height of disc by this thus saving the need for a spacer &the wheels sitting om studs only

i hope this clarifies my reasoning you will seewhat i mean once you do a trial fit with the std disc i found the celica &the starlet to have the same offset any way

i forgot to mention this was all done with parts avail in australia in case the import UK parts are different

  11. hi

i`m in the process of using the ST185 calipers in a brake up-grade i couldn`t find corolla ones . i foud that the ST185 disc suggested in DIY & spacer suugested to not be suitiable (the disc heights/offset is wrong &spacer sets the wheel to hang on the wheel studs not good me thinks ) i went looking for a disc that is bgger in dia &with the right offset found the RDA679 to be the one that matched my measurements ( std 238mm up-grade 260mm the max size that will fit inside the caliper &wheel without mods to mount). only thing needed was an adapter to match disc 66mm to starlet 55mm not a spacer so disc fits in original position on hub . i haven`t fitted any thing yet so info is measurements only do a trial fit &you will see what i encountered( it doesnt just work the way the guide says ) the std disc is too deep it need to be less by the thicknees of the spacer

i`m going to post a detailed DIY guide as soon as i have fitted them on &they work satisfatorly but so far i reckon i`m onthe right track . june /july @ this point

just some thing i found so far in my up -grade hope this doesn`t put you off

  12. Hi

i`ve been a member for a while now, posted /shopped / &contributed . noticed that people seem to generally to build a project then suddenly start stripping the vehicle for resale instead of trading it in on another vehicle or selling as a going concern (i`ve seen some advertised )

i guess this keeps the supply of parts up but makes it hard if you want a complete car .is there more cars than people wanting them we break some in AU but more are traded/swapped on .

i know i would find it hard to spend my time on a project then strip -it to sell i would rather an enthusiast acquired it to enjoy

    post your thoughts i`m curious

    lyle

  13. hi

sounds like you turned a simple job into a major mess . i have just done the exact same job with no hassle ,there is no need to remove the rail or injectors , i found enough room to work socket/rachet handle behind mani &i don`t have little hands either . i fitted mani &T/B & retuned gained 5 kw = 6.7 hp , i now have 80hp ATW. ea mod is getting me closer to the magic 100hp ATW

sorry to hear you had a disasterous up-grade, hope you get it sorted soon

  14. ^^^ about that extractor. Where can you buy them from

Have you thought of getting matching black glanza side skirts?? Wud complete the look!

    hi

about that extractor. Where can you buy them from go to http://www.pacemaker.com.au/index.html & select a dealer they are readily availiable in australia.

Have you thought of getting matching black glanza side skirts?? Wud complete the look! have already fitted colour -matched skirts trimmed with black chip-proof paint underneath skirt , used to paint rocker panel black in the old days , trend seems to have moved on &you don`t see too much black on rocker panels

  15. WOW back end looks pretty much what mine looked like! Is it a carbon spoiler?

I like the exhaust manifold what one is it?

This is the best colour n/a wthout a doubt

    hi

WOW back end looks pretty much what mine looked like! Is it a carbon spoiler? it`s not a carbon fibre, i left it the original colour , it`s a deep black with a silver sparkle in it , it seems to match the blue well.

I like the exhaust manifold what one is it? they are "pacemaker" extractors . you`ve probably heard of them. they are flanged to a 2in stainless exhaust shop built system
