  1. Hi

I am thinking of buying a set of spark plugs for my n/a. (1998 with 2e engine). As usual  I have a couple of questions.

To be honest I have no idea of what the differences are between the iridium ones, normal ones etc etc. Can anyone shed some light?

Also spark plugs usually have a specified heatrange....what does this value stand for exactly? What is recommended for an n/a?

Are the sparkplugs for a 2e engine the same as for the 4efe?

    Any suggested brands?

I have no idea on what to buy and so on so feel free to add any information which might be relevant....

  2. this is a beauty..i have a glanza and a reflet..but i dont want the reflet to look like the glanza..u just inspired me to try this out...love the red..nice work

oh how much did u pay for the remix bumper and where did u get it??

I belive parts have to be ordered from Toyota. Following links will be helpful re part numbers and so on

    --> Link1

    --> Link 2

No idea how much they would cost you in the UK

  3. They're cheap enough to just buy a new one once a year, I just gave mine a quick go over with a soft brush every 4 months or so, there always seems to be little flying bugs and shit in it in the summer. :p

That's probably what I'll do if the filter turns out to be good :(

  4. x2 Very good filter had mine for a few months, no complaints to be made :p

Bought one of them for 20Euros shipped....not a lot of money....we'll see how it goes...if I don't like it it's back to the standard airbox lol

Any tips on maintenance of these filters? Cleaning every Xkms and so on?

  5. I have been looking around for quite some time for a cone filter. On ebay I came across "Apiro" filters which are quite (or rather very) inexpensive....it seems they are a new brand as there are only a few reviews about them on the internet....I have to say that none were negative....What are your thoughts on these filters? Are they as good as more expensive ones? If not are they at least better than OEM airbox?

  6. Been on the look for one but i might just go for 6x9's :)

My sound system is as follows....pioneer headunit, 2 pioneer front speakers (emotion range) and 2 6x9 's (no idea what brand as they came with the car) at the back. It's nothing much but it's decent. My mate, on the otherhand, has a similar setup with a subwoofer...can't say there is no difference but nothing worth the extra money he spent in my opinion

  7. Glanza scoop on the bonnet would mean cutting the center section out, and having it welded into the current N/A bonnet - which is time, money and hassle in itself.

An idea might be to use glanza headlights and bonnet. Buy a cheap glanza front bumper (whichever spec you prefer) and cut the top half off of it, and then do the kind of cut and shut with the bumper. Remix bottom half (or.. from the bit at the top downwards) and then the Glanza top so it fits well with the bonnet.

Just worth a thought. Alot less time and money spent doing that than the bonnet. Its fiberglass, filler and some patience to make it look top work!

Need to put a couple hours of thought in what to do with the front....so many possibilities. I think I'd better start with the back (more straight-forward job - glanza spoiler + glanza bumper) to give me time to decide.

I really need to start a project thread with pics

  8. i had a glanza bonnet on my SR before i got the front bumper and headlights fitted and there is a huge gap in between..

    noplates7.jpg

not something i would advise personally..

    hope this helps

What I had in mind was only the glanza scoop on a standard bonnet....not a glanza bonnet on an n/a, just the scoop

  9. It wouldnt be worth your while,

Would take a lot of work to cut the bonnet and seal everything, just aswell changing to Glanza items and saving yourself alot of work

    Gary

Yeah but I'm going to do a remix bumper and I really like the scoop lol....hopefully my ep will be one of a kind

  10. Just take the airbox off and measure the pipe.

For thesake of keeping the forum/thread in order here is the diagram for the airbox again. Link

This is basically what the engine looks like (pic found off net...mine is cleaner :) )Picture

There is no rubber pipework as with 4efe.....I measured the metal thingy to which the airbox is connected and its 2.5". The part I measured can be seen in the parts diagram as the hole in the airbox....is this the correct measurement?

  11. I can get you the diameter from my 2e tomorow but going from the toyodiy pic you put up, I'm taking it yours Is carbs where is mines is fuel injection

    Different intake pipes

    Gary

Thanks mate :) Yeah mine is with the carburator. I have my doubts as to whether there are any 1998 n/a starlets with this engine in the UK

  12. So I encountered my first problems (as usual :) )

Since my car came with a 2e engine from the factory, the airbox is different than that found in a 4efe or 4efte engine.

This is the diagram of my airbox CLICK HERE

    So my questions are:

What is the diameter of the air intake?

What is the thermostatic valve (17728) found in the airbox and what is its function?

2e Engine was used on corollas, starlets and tercels.....

Any help?? (especially with the diameter)

  13. i bought an apiro 1 of ebay and it make a nice sound

it was bought £45 including delivery

    and it looks like this

    starletupdated6.jpg

    hope this helps

Thanks mate....however I'm currently asking locally for quotes on Apexi and K&N filters. The main problem I am encountering is that since my car has a different engine from most starlets on this forum (2e engine), I do not know whether the car has the same intake diameter and so on. Also diagram shows thermostatic valve....I have no idea what this is for

Clean engine bay by the way
