  1. Was just about to post up about Apiro filters but you got there first lol.

I have one, can't fault it really.

At the end of the day an air filter is an air filter, but you have to take into account how much air it can flow (how restrictive it is) and how much shit it lets through.

I know this is old and most people have seen it many times but it's worth a look:

    http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

Surprisingly even the more expensive and rather common air filters like the Blitz and HKS actually have pretty crap filtration.

Thanks for the link..ver helpful ^_^

So now it's between an apexi filter and the cheaper apiro....

Does the apiro give the car a nice sound? If so I'll think I'll go for one of these --> LINK

Also what is the life expectancy of such filter?

  2. I'm thinking of replacing the standard airbox with a performance filter....first of all, i would like to ask whether it is worth spending a lot of money on this part? Also any brands you would recommend? Are the unbranded cone filters (like those found on ebay) any good? I was looking at the apexi filters however there is a huge gap in price between these and the aforementioned unbranded ones

  3. It won't fit straight on a glanza if thats what you're wanting to do, it won't fit properly with the glanza headlights or bonnet.

If you'd searched you would've found this aswell:

Thanks for the link mate. Yeah I could have found it had i looked harder....i'm still green here...still i apologise.

I want to fit the bumper on a standard 1998 n/a. I mentioned the glanza fogs so I know my options

As Wallace says it won't fit on a glanza,

It will fit a Uk spec ep91 and 98 spec crystal glanza foglights can be used.

I can get these for £170 delivered for bumper, grille and clips from work

This will be brand new unpainted

    Gary

Thanks for the offer mate but I am still undecided as whetehr I should do the remix bumper or a glanza conversion....checking out prices and so on. Also I live in Malta so I don't think it would be worth shipping

  4. urm i think its just a standard starlet spoiler.

i bought it off ray wong who is on this forum

What i really meant to ask was if it has a brake light (as with the original glanza spoiler)....if so you have to drill a hole in the tail gate for the wiring, however if it has no brake light some sealer and tape will do the trick

    Goodluck mate...keep us posted

  5. Lot's more work than I imagined....the older head unit is now out, but unfortunately the person who installed it had filed down the stereo surround part of the dash and the mount which is inside the dash was cut away, so the stereo was only fitting on the plastic surround of the dash board.

depending on the new stereo you are fitting, you may have to buy an additional connector, as the newer headunits have the multiplex wiring and so on.

Before I start connecting the new headunit and dealing with the damage the previous owner did (or the person who installed the headunit), I have to buy some sort of adapter....as the connectors from the new headunit do not fit that already in the car.....

  6. Thanks for the help :)

and £50 for a parcel shelf is not too bad mate, from a dealer over here, you could be paying double that, but to be honset even £50 is overpriced...

£50 is a second hand one....i didn't bother checking new as 99.9% it is much more expensive.

  7. Thanks mate...I'll start shopping around this week and hopefully by the weekend I'll start working on it :)

Will let you know how things work out. What I have in mind is a good head unit, two front speakers and two 4-way 6x9 speakers at the back (have to be 6x9 as there are already old ones in the parcel shelf...to change size I have to change the parcel shelf which to say the least is quite expensive here..rougly 50sterling)

  8. I have a 1998 n/a with aftermarket stereo installed...it seems this stereo has been in the car for some years now and so I would like to change it.

Is it difficult to change the stereo? Is there anything I should look out for when choosing the stereo unit? (espescially pioneers as that is the brand I would like) Also is there some sort of guide on how to fit a stereo on this website? (looked but couldn't find one).

  9. perfect topic for me to hijack :-D

Guys does a standard starlet cat fit ontyo a glanza? mine keeps failing on emmisions and think the cat might have somthing to do with it!

Also will puttign the car on low boost help the emssions?

That's exactly why I asked for someone to compile a list.....it would save most people loads of time

I would have done it myself but as yet I am still a noob :harhar:

  10. I've been reading around on the internet and I've read how parts from other cars fit on a starlet. One may mention corolla manifolds, laguna and civic splitters, glanza and remix body parts and so on. Is there anyone out there who could compile a list of parts from other cars which can fit on a normal starlet with little or no modifications? :help:
