  1. so full of winz! Phil.
  2. well took my ass to Exotic today. got me 2 planted T5 bulbs, will get a third one and a fresh blue bulb next month hopefully. also got some food supplies and have also ordered an inline heater so i can remove the internal boyo from the tank. took 10 more ember tetras too while i was there. hopefully with the planted bulbs i'll start seeing renewed growth in the plants, although they're growing like crazy as it is, but mainly im hoping to see the fish more because the marine white lights were too bright and scaring the poor buggers into hiding. going in there is gettin more and more like going into a sweetie shop. the more i get into this whole scene the more i wana learn about and know about! they tried to convince me on some golden headed purple harlequins today, but gonna stick to just neons cardinals ember tetras and rasboras ottos and pygmy corries for now. dont want it looking all mish mashed. the fact that the neons are south american and the rasboras and red cherries are Asian is bad enough lol. Phil.
  3. yeh clown or kulhie (sp) loaches will batter them. i had the same problem, however, i have red cherry shrimp in mine, so loaches are a no no. what EVENTUALLY worked was i killed them with my finger for weeks, then the bigger shrimp realised "ohh, om nom noms", then, bye bye snails. however, i have a planaria problem. they're not parasitic, but fucking uuuuuuuuggggggly!! Phil.
  4. me?? no. bit expensive that bollocks mate. i have done some reading on it though, and it does interest me, but for the plants / moss i have right now i dont need it, the substrate and carbon fertiliser is sufficient. if i were to plant carpet or foreground grass type plants i would need it. Phil.
  5. holy shit he's huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge! class! i relocated that big broad leafed plant to the rear of the tank on sunday, fucking disaster. what a mess. however, after inserting an extra filter for a few days, i finally got the water cleared, washed a fresh bag of gravel and have covered over the messy areas and tidied up with it in general, covering the base of bits of wood etc. so, now i can actually see the annubis and hopefully the broad leaf will send out fresh roots and be happy beside the amazon swords. gonna pay a visit to Exotic Aquatics tomorrow for some advice and food, never know what i may fancy while im there lol. Phil.
  6. excuse you??? WHO stumbled across it bitch???? oh thats right thats right, your AMAZING big brother, finder of ALL rare lips and spoilers in this EP house!!!!!!!!! TTE Splitter? ME! HRF Spats?? Me...well, technically SiCaln...but still... Your LiveSports lip?? ME!! Your ducktail??? ME!!! Your UNBELIEVABLY RARE WINNING SPORTS SPOILER???? Even rarer than the duckarse???? ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you turd! :P Phil.
  7. and why exactly has that put u off the forum pray tell?? its only a discussion on something thats regularly reported in the media. fair enough it's veered slightly towards associated topics right now, but i cant see how raising the level of the conversation beyond media and Hollywood hype to actual scientific principles would put u off the forum.  but hey each to their own. lulz. Phil.
  8. oh dude, there's any amount of reading can be done around that subject. im not even going to attempt to talk about that one because i havent done enough reading myself on it. wikipedia will be loaded with things on this, not to mention any amount of peer-reviewed journal submissions and doctorate theses and research publications. thats a whole other discussion on advanced quantum theory and/or quantum mechanics that is so far beyond my geographical readings that even watching dumbed down presentations for mass viewing on tv is too quick for me. thats some fancy ass shenanigans there! fascinating nonetheless. Phil.
  9. addzz - we don't know how the world really started?? if you are of a scientific mind set at all, i think u'd know that we have a fairly sound idea of the events that led to the world beginning. infact, there are whole TV series dedicated to it with that Scottish lecturer presenter (Ian something-or-other), who explains just how many factors happen to be spot on for life on earth with regards to the exact position of the earth in the solar system, the exact nature of the atmospheric make up, etc etc. true no one was there to witness it all, but i'd say they are 99.9% certain of how it has all come to be. hell, i believe they have even identified the first bacterial life forms that would, eventually, lead from bacteria in warm shallow oceans to the horrid little chavs we see skulking on street corners today who try to knick our cars from our driveways whilst we sleep...the form may have changed, but for some, their intellect clearly remains at a bacterial level. the bigger question i have heard recently is around is this the first time around for the universe?? im sure we all know that the universe is expanding, this has been observed and is measurable. one theory suggests that at some point it will stop expanding, and begin to contract, all the way back down to the single minute point where it all exploded from...and then...BOOM! big bang all over again and the whole process starts over. meaning, is this the first time this has actually happened? not life on earth per se as i can't imagine it reforms the same each time, but the existence of the universe. has this expansion and contraction and expansion and contraction been going on for aeons? anyone see Stephen Hawking's show on Time Travel where he puts forward his reasons that travelling back in time is not possible due to "feedback", but that, in theory, please remember that phrase, in theory, if an object (i.e. imagine some fancy ass space ship) were able to use the mass of a super massive back hole and sling-shot itself around the hole, enough momentum could be gained to (eventually) generate enough velocity to travel faster than the speed of light, and the speed at which time moves...naturally i can't do the theory justice, but i gotta say i find his whole argument fascinating. and yes, the passage of time can be influenced, by gravity. for example, a little reading around time dilation will tell u that time passes somewhere in the region of 45,900 nanoseconds per day, or like a tenth of a billionth of a second or so, quicker at a GPS satellite than at the earth's surface due to the gravitational effect of the earth slowing time as it passes over it. again, i cant do the topic justice, but it is a fascinating read, i wish i could understand just a bit of it. @Steve - yes mate I work in the Pharmaceutical industry, but I have a BSc in Geography and an MSc in Coastal Zone Geomorphology. I essentially studied this kinda thing for 6 years at University. and again, in all those years, the "world going pop" was certainly never mentioned. i dont believe its even a far out remote theory of a planetary explosion caused by some internal event. Phil.
  10. from a purely tectonic or atmospheric perspective, no. not that quickly. seismic events of a magnitude great enough to blow the place the pieces would most likely be forcast-able and would probably be a culmination of many different events/occurences. for it to happen out of the blue would require something serious to go wrong in the core of the planet. obviously the planet's core is cooling and when it is done there will be any number of changes expected, but as it cools it solidifies, not explodes. so, whilst catastrophic volcanic activities are not out of the question, i would question whether these would lead to an "world going pop" event as these are surface and mantle events, not core related. for the atmosphere to change to a level serious to alter the weather patterns enough to bring about an ice age or similar event to spell the end for humans, natural systems such as the oceanic currents, including the North Atlantic Drift, would need to shut down. And whilst environmental models/theories have been developed around such an occurence, the complete shutting down of the deep sea current system is not something that would occur over night or within our lifetimes, and again, we would be seeing tell tale signs - change in local and hemispheric weather patterns yadda yadda. so again, it wouldn't happen within the space of 2012. thats not to say that some mad shit couldn't occur - a nuclear holocaust or similar, but again, that would not expressly mean the end of the rock on which we stand, merely the life upon it. Phil.
  11. simply encouraging some learned debate around this common knowledge is all. Phil.
  12. in my 26 years i never learnt patience, so u can imagine how upset i am at not getting a response yet. should i reword it???? make it less Discovery Channel, and more Montell Williams?? Phil.
  13. the rule of thumb of is traders only. also, the inherent safety / lawsuit issue would seriously concern me about having ANYONE sell these through UKSC. tbh this is one for Enzo to run through his sister before anything would be granted, but tbh, i wouldnt fancy it. Phil.
  14. thats fucking crazy!!!! i was genuinely cringing watching that! Phil.
  15. Nostradamus didn't predict that "two towers would fall on 9/11", what he said was " In the city of York there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers torn apart by chaos", he wasn't as precise as "two towers 9/11". also, im fairly sure the media have never told us the world would go pop. in my 6 years studying geography, geomorphology, and geology that included the Philosophical Implications of Quantum Thermo Dynamics on Geomorphology, I was never once lectured about the world going pop as a result of any geophysical/seismic occurrence, including "super volcanoes" before anyone starts. meteors, perhaps. sun burning to a shrivel? well, obviously, thats a given. but not in our short lifetimes, or our children's, or our grand children's. what we do know, that the mass media hasn't bothered to tell too may people, is that astronomers / astrophysicists know of one potential end date - in between 3 and 5 billion years time our neighbouring galaxy, andromeda, may come crashing into the Milky Way. but thats not as juicy as asteroids or "the world going pop", doesnt make for such great movie ideas. I notice that this genuinely feasible astronomical event has not been discussed here, in favour of the haranguing of catastrophe theories and the beratement of the media. if perhaps anyone would care to elevate this discussion to an intellectual level above Mystic Meg in The Sun and Hollywood propaganda, please, lets discuss something that has actually been observed by astronomers as fact - that Andromeda is moving towards the Milky Way at a rate of 120 km/s. ALSO - can you point to the passage in the Bible where it says that The Rapture necessarily means that the world will, to use your word Love, "end"? Perhaps it will, or perhaps the world will simply change as we know it, but I would like it pointed out to me exactly where it says the world will end with the second coming of Jesus. Granted you didn't specify this in your post, but in a post in a thread relating to the end of the world, you have discussed a Pastor's predictions for the second coming, and its not an unreasonable assumption to make that u appear to relating the second coming with the end of the physical world on which we stand. of course, given the theological and philosophical magnitude of my challenge, i expect u'll back away from this point now in favour of another. or shall we abandon educated intelligence in favour of chat show trailer park trash-esque hype and drama...because thats more fun....... so, ye, lulz. discuss. Phil.
  16. Joel - no u don't, fool. sweep picking - yeah, im just totally giving up with that. im too lazy to take lessons and sweeping is just beyond me! Buckethead is simply - aural sex in my brain! i've become utterly obsessed with him. i have a canvas and a painting in my room, as well as the guitar, which i wana get a stretchy strap for like his! Phil.
  17. very nice dude! what do u play on her? Phil.
  18. well pulled the big broad leaf up yesterday...by fuck what a mess. 8 hours later and it still hadn't settled. then i couldn't get the plant to stay planted. so at 11 last nite i was STILL fighting with it. ended up cutting the roots off at an inch in length, then put a lead weight around the roots and sunk it best i could. hopefully by the time i get home tonight it will all have settled, and i bought two more bags of fine black gravel that i will layer on top of most of the substrate to cover the mess that is currently there as a mix of soil and gravel. on the plus side, once it all settles this week i'll actually be able to see the annubis. Phil.
  19. yeah, its Jackson/Charvel i reckon. man that is so sweet! i remember u telling me about that one! so nice! Phil.
  20. yeah i knew it was due for release, havent got it yet. would love to buy his whole back catalogue, but it would cost a mortgage lol! obviously cant see the headstock, but i'm gonna throw some random guesses out: Cort Ibanez Charvel Phil.
  21. Rory Gallagher - Bad Penny. Phil.
  22. ok bro cool. i'm hoping to pop in E-A next week with carol, i need to see annita about: 1. Bulbs 2. Heater (just being nosey/curious at this stage) 3. my planaria infestation - by fuck i want rid of those little bastards! Phil.
  23. nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! Phil.
  24. thanks bro, thats actually given me a bit of confidence about moving. gonna leave everything on the right hand side, all part of this rule of thirds when designing a layout, mega heavy planted on the right and at the rear i think will be the idea, leaving the annubis to populate the foreground. i might look into getting an inline external heater, then i'll remove the internal one and relocate that big broad leafed plant to that rear area of the tank, but cant really do it with the heater still there or it'll burn it....as i found out when i burnt myself on it a few weeks back lol. thanks for the advice bro! dead chuffed! every night this week when i've been watching the west wing i've been distracted by looking at that damn plant and thinking...hmmmmm u shouldnt have been planted there lol. Phil.
