  1. I do have an email backlog I have to admit and apologise for. At this point we also have no 4 pot kits at all.................. :(

    I'm in the process of replacing some (incredibly unreliable) suppliers which will improve things in the future.

    To give some idea of how bad it got, the last (final?) order I placed came with a "4 week" lead time. It took six months before I saw anything - and to date only half of that order ever arrived and it's been over a year. I'm not holding my breath on the rest, although it's totally in that supplier's hands to come through in the future.

    This has left us in an impossible and worstening situation for a good while now - huge stock fluctuations and an ever increasing pool of people who are waiting for kits to become available.

    Until we are up and running with some additional suppliers that's all I can say regarding calipers, sorry guys....

    BUT <<<<<<<<<<< PLEASE NOTE........the WMS 110% heavy duty discs, all brake pads (OEM and 4-pot), and all spares inc discs for the 4 pot kits are and will remain available.

  2. Hi Will, I'm based in Hastings / Bexhill if you wanted WMS 110% discs and/or DS2500 pads?



    If so, if you bring your calipers over I've got EP91 hubs so we should be able to do a dummy build to check you've got the right pads/discs before you start faffing with your car?

    It's all based on customer feedback and things I've read on the forum, so I don't have ALL the info in many case, especially the offset....sorry about that.

    > Note that we regard a 2mm gap as "clears", not just that it doesn't TOUCH! So a wheel that clears by 0.5mm gets a 1.5mm spacer.

  4. Very twitchy about the idea of fixing brakes by loosening bolts.....!!!! :)



    Get hold of a heap of thick washers and use them under the wheel bolts/nuts (not overtightened, nipped up is fine) to replicate the wheel and allow the disc to be clamped to the hub, and work out exactly what's going wrong by turning the disc by hand with the car in the air.



    Sliders etc should all work fine even if the bolts are over tightened, find what's sticky / too big / too small / too tight and fix it, don't just guess at something and see if it helps....

    Best bet for people is to drop us a PM if they want to order anything, we prefer bank transfer but PayPal is fine too. :)



    Oh and the DS2500 is a road legal pad where the DS3000 isn't. (on cars made the end of 1999 the EU rules mean you can't use EITHER DS2500/3000 on the road legally - so all Starlets are fine)

  6. Sorry, only just seen this!



    What needs doing to fit them? They are the same to fit as OEM stuff but being slighty thicker you need to fit the shims between the caliper and strut, and if there's any heavy rust flakes / built-up brake crud on the caliper/carrier that's too close to the disc then take it off.



    Re pads - the DS2500 is closer to the Yellow but shoud offer far better performance based on the feedback we get. :)

  7. Well spotted, that's the caliper touching the wheel and milling a groove into the base of the spokes!



    When you get the wheel off make sure you check it out properly, and probably get someone to blend it smooth again - aluminium hates stress raisers and the base of the spokes isn't a good place to have one...


  8. Just to point out the obvious, take REALLY easy when modifying the balljoint guys!



    I hate balljoints, they are always 1mm too close for some ideal disc I'd like to use on some random car's kit.....


  9. To get dimensions and return the old ones, about a week.



    To make new ones if it goes smoothly, about 2-3 weeks (as my working week is split at the moment). Ideally I'd want to still have an alloy bell at this stage to double check final fit/tolerances and take a few photos - but it's not essential. :)



    The "fun" bit is reverse-engineering a worn part, it's far more difficult than a new part!


  10. Sounds about right - most disc brands draw their stock from a wide range of actual manufacturers - Brembo being one of them, often if the discs are large and Italian!



    The ID of the blank discs we use are restricted, and in any case nearly all of them are modified in one way or another. :) So when we do supply EBC ones they normally have areas where the plating has gone due to machining!

    well i suppose if you were too kind you'd lost business and thats a livelihood so no issue there.

    for me and my hobby the quest continues!

    id love you know what car your EBC discs are for, but sure ill get someting worked out when i get some time.

    We don't supply any EBC discs really (although we still list them in the odd place) - we had a fair bit of trouble with QC on them when got them in in the past. Totally mis-matched "pairs" and things like that which didn't impress me at all! Like one disc turned on a lathe but the other finished on a blanchard grinder.....and differing casting thicknesses left/right too so pads will get to temp earlier on one wheel.

    I'm sure most are fine but we seemed to get iffy ones!!!

  12. so if i send you a disc that works with my GT4 calipers you could make me up a custom disc to suit (and than produce a GT4 disc)

    how much would you want for the above?

    additionally,

    if i buy 2 front wilwood calipers (radial mounted) would you make a bracket to suit an existing discs you already offer with the WMS kits?

    Q1 - Do you mean ST185 (single or twin pot) calipers? If so then I'd be interested in cases where lots of people are ALREADY USING a given caliper.

    Q2 - Afraid not, because people are better off with the full WMS kit. Same goes for supplying discs for that purpose - WMS discs were developed or speced for WMS kits (with a lot of time/money/effort invested in the process). :)

    Bottom line I don't mind doing custom discs/rotors to try and help people in the starlet community out who are already running the 3G rotor/bell setup or other commonly fitted OEM calipers.

  13. I assume that's the case with most people - what I mean is anyone else offering custom discs will also need the old disc to work from. :)
