After talking to Jay we believe it's suffered a major piston ring failure! Plan is to get some new 74.5mm pistons and get some machine work done on the block/head/crank.

I believe someone bought the turbo and it was shagged. But I've fitted another turbo to the engine and ran the car and it knocks badly

But what would cause that? Can you buy the rings separately?

So I got the head off today Heads very clean as I believe Mike @ TD had recently re-built it. But when I removed the head I found this... Pistons arnt pitted as I had originally thought, but something isn't right? Any idea's?

Them lads are a nightmare! Went to see a Glanza there and it was a state! Also went with a mate to look at that GT they were selling!

Everything is the same mate., apart from a couple of sensors on the thermostat housing.

New EWG then! Least its nothing else!

Only sensors you need to swap are on the thermostat

The head is also very clean. I was told by Mike at TD he had recently re-built it. I will get it re-built anyway just for piece of mind! Nothing really unfortunately buddy.

Did a little bit more today! Crank looks good to me, obv will go for a polish/re-grind! Pistons are 74mm which is good news! So hopefully the bloke can be re-bored and I can get some oversized pistons in there! Will remove the head in the week and get the pistons out!

Didn't really do too much yesterday, managed to get the engine on the stand and started stripping a few bits off it! Stopped when i didn't have the correct hex bit to remove the ARP Headbolts! So I've ordered one and I'll get the head off in the week and show you guys the damage Rob caused to the pistons!!

Well seeing as everyone else is posting pictures up of their daily's I thought I'd share mine! I paid a grand total of £1000 for this car! It's an 1999 Audi A4 V6 Quattro. Back in the day I'm sure this would of set the owner back a fair amount of money! Leather heated seats, Bose speakers, 6 disc CD changer ect! Photos from the ad; Got it home and gave it a good bath!
