Its all back on the road now  and it got a good clean, needs a lot more yet tho 

It’s just about all back together! Just the last bits to finish off now and the rocker cover is finished 

I can definitely see a Debbie does Dallas flag up there  

I cant believe you've got a Ferrari flag next to a Metallica flag!! what the hell is that all about???    

I think its ready for a clean too when its running 

well the heads back on , I’ve made up a new injector loom for the first set and a new loom for the coil packs as they where well passed there best! All built up with probably one of the last TRD head gaskets 

I was rather happy with how the pistons and everything was looking after 6 years (I think) And over 50k

got a bit more done been playing around with something a bit different 

Got some more bits done! Made a new plate for the coil packs to mount on as someone seems to have stolen my last design , Ive made some nice spiked nuts and bolts too for the rocker cover and coils. The head is all built back up and the cruise cams shimmed to suite the fresh head! More updates to come soon!

Cheers mate, they are something I have looked into but not sure the best way to go about it yet as for best results you need to actually move the ball joint down not just the bottom arm I can make the spacers no problem but how much of a difference that would make Im not sure!

Anther thing that has changed is my workshop too! I have replaced the mill with a much bigger one! still not quite big enough to skim the head face tho but it will do most of it. I also made a large flycutter to skim it with! The result I was happy with 

So out came a spare head! It got the same treatment as the last one a bit of a port and polish, I even made a tool for holding it in the vice so I could adjust it. This head had a very badly corroded 

exhaust port side so! I made a tilting table to go on the mill so I could skim it! 

Well this is what happend! I’d been out in the SR for probably the first time in 6 months or so all was good till I was 1/2 mile from home, I gave it a boot full nice pop between gears as it does the booom It started missing! I got it home and got the compression tester out! All was spot on apart from numer 3, number 3 was showing 0! For it to have 0 I was expecting the worst! So it sat for probably 3 months without being touched, anyway I eventually pulled the head off and found nothing! Everything looked as it should be except the carbon build up, so I stripped the head down and all I could fined there was carbon deposits on the vavle face and seat. So I took the head to work and put it in the parts wash we have, unknown to me someone had filled it with concrete cleaner! So that was the end of the head it wrecked all the cam carrier faceses and anything that should have been a machined face!

Its only been off the road 12 month next month

I Think I might need to pull my finger out and get this back on the road!

I’d rather make them to order tbh, I do make a few tools for stock but only the ones that sell well, these only take an hour or so to do anyway. 

Cheers, the tool for fitting the guides also doubles up as a stem seal fitter too perfect!

Thats not a problem mate, I’ll give you a tip too knock the out from the block side and in from the top, also leave the new gides in the freezer over night before fitting them!

There ya go a removal tool and setting tool to get them all to the correct depth 

Its a diy one, I saw this post and thought I make one, I’m going to do one thats a depth stop for putting em in with too if needed

I’ve used both at work helicoils and the threaded inserts. Depends what we have on the shelf at the time, never had any problems with either really but the thread insert is definitely the favourite
