Some of you may have seen my start at strippin out my starlet, can anyone point me in the right direction for a lightweight fuel tank to replace the stock one. It obviously needs to be big enough to allow the pump to go onto the thank too. Hope you can help, oh and another thing i dont want a ridiculously expensive tank and it needs to be light as fook so aluminum is probably best! Craig

Gonna buy a new set of rims and tyres also soon, those 16's gotta go! As its gonna be a track car im thinking somthing thats bright and memorable so people can put the car to a face, as although its nice at the moment its difficult to distiniguish whos ep is whos when watching on track. Gonna go for some mad bright colour with some nice R888 rubber, yummy!! What bright colours do you think will look cool and memorable ha ha, maybe bright luminous orange lol ha ha -

Same here, basically i was always stressin about the resale value of it if i stripped it, its taken a year to finally decide to do it! Primarily because while racing on track I want to be even quicker than it is already, lol was laughing the other day at Pembrey when a guy was in an EVO FQ300 and he couldnt keep up, ha ha! So with the guts out its gonna be even more mental Roll on Japfest 2 this Sunday! -

Cheers guys, im just gonna pull out as much as i can to get it as light as possible without having to spend any major money. Stripped the doors also, think ill get in there and give it a good clean first! -

Ok then.... Lets begin!!! So my car has evolved considerably since i bought it last year from \\\"monkfish\\\" on these forums, monkfish has his orignal blog of it is below... http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4132 Now that i have got it in my hands a good few things have changed since i bought it back in summer 2009, with big ideas for a track car, the car had head gasket failure on it so i bought it cheap for £1800. Had it repaired and was off to castle combe action day. She was going so sweet, i loved this car more than anything i had driven I couldnt believe how quick the thing was!! Then flat out along the back straight i noticed a drop in power as i just started to brake for the first corner, car was missing and under powered, then smoke started to fill the cabin, oh no i was thinking!! Looked in the rear view mirror and it was like a smoke screen Managed to limp back to the pits on 3 cylinders expecting the worse, opened the bonnet and the engine had shat all of its oil out through the top rocker cover breather and I was lucky it didnt go up! A 3 hour drive on the back of the AA van sent me home and the car i loved so much sat on my drive for 3 months while i figured out what to do with it, it was clear a ringland hand gone as no compression in No.1, basically a big job to fix. Decided on further inspection the whole engine was on its last legs and had a hard life, I decided to buy a new lump from a jap import specialist and decided to fit it my self (never done it before!!!) but i was a competent mechanic with my mate Leon. Anyway fitted it over three weekends and guess what it stared first bloody time, sweeeeeeeet!!!! Took us ages to get her out as we had to learn it all from scratch, but she finally came out!!! THat was a good day!!! A year on she is still running sweet I have now done numerous track days at Castle Combe, Pembrey, Llandow, attended Japfest, im about to goto Japfest 2 at the Rockingham motor speedway this Sunday and then Silverstone for Trax later in the year, but now i want to strip her out which is why i have started this diary of the work. Gonna see how mad i can go with it and make it UBER light, i heard you can get these things sub 6xxkg (night spirit has been helping me out ) Had the car Dynod the other day and she is making 180.1bhp, but after this i found out that the timing was out by 8 degrees when checked with the timing light, so she should be even more! Here she is on the dyno (video) The graphs, runnin at 0.98 bar 180.1bhp After pembrey last weekend I really wanted to stip her out, so today i bit the bullet and did it, there was bits of my car everywhere lol!! so far i have pulled out all the interior Started in the boot, got rid of the spare wheel, loads of other crap, shelf carpets, warning triangle. this came out just from the boot!! Back end got most of the junk out Started on the front then, took the seats out then pulled everything else out, just making up some new rails for my cobra seats to put in and then im gonna start going mad cutting stuff out Thats all for today! 10/8/10 Next is Lightweight race battery, mine weighs 10kg currently, the new one 2kg! 11/8/10 Found out that race batteries for cars are an expensive rip off, i was originally going to purchase a \\\"Varley Red top 8 battery\\\" cost - about £115, weight - 2.7kg (my battery weighs 10kg) found out you can use a motorbike battery £30, both tiny and does the same job!! So good info there if you decide to swap yours out, saved 7.3KG just by changing that from standard battery. While i wait for that to arrive i got into the car and started rippin the floor deadening up, i thought this is gonna be a bitch and how right was i, I spent nearly 2 hours with a hammer and chizzle just to get one section up!!. I had heard you can get it up with a paint heat gun, but didnt have one, found it was easiest to chizzle up in strips as shown. After sluggin it for about 1:45mins i finally got one section up, argggh this is hard, although out of interest I saved nearly 1kg just from that. Dug up over 900 grames just in sound deadening, not bad and thats just one section out of 4 13/8/10 Added car spec sheet 15/8/10 Just got back from Japfest 2, was blown away by how much difference already strippin has made, even won \\\"Best club car\\\" for the performance of the car blowing everything on track, was bloody amazing! Any way just as a catch up I made a bit of progress this weekend which is below, nearly got all the deadenin up now just the drivers side left to do and got my bucket seats and rail welded up in place to put em in. Seats just about ready to go in (got rid of my stock passenger seat as i only had one bucket in before) Just some advice, dont pay stupid money for rails i.e £200!! just weld one up like this, got a friend to do it. 15 mins work job done.. Car all cleaned up with seats in, she is coming along nicely now. 16th August 2010 Got back from Japfest, mwhwhahaha what a great day, car was so quick around track i even won club best car!! In fairness to other members there were much better looking starlets out there, but it seems i was whoppin everything out on track and putting on a good show, here are some pics. As it was nearly a 4 hour drive to the Rockingham motor speedway, i came prepared (and alot of food and booze!!) Was flying around the track, pissed off though that i went through a brand new set of pads in 45minutes! Mwhahahah i won a trophy, thank you very much UKSC, it made my day! 25th August 2010 Gonna be busy with the car this week, just bought new wheels from MattGlanza, some nice magnesium forged super lightweight wheels and also my race battery has now arrived. New lightweight wheels on really dont like the green on these, think im gonna go pink lol, but they are the lightest wheels i have ever seen for the starlet 4.6kg! So with all this slim fast going on, although i havent weighed her in properly i estimate so far i have lost 30kg in interior and the spare wheel 12kg in changing my wheels from the 7.6kg 16\\\" Rota Track R\\\'s to the 4.6kg Rays Engineering Volk Racing NR-S\\\'s 7.4kg in changing my battery from a standard one to a small race one 4kg in sound deadening on the floor 1kg removing the solid steel rear tow eye Saving - 54.4 kg Although anoyingly my cobra bucket seats once the rails were welded on were actually heavier than the stock seats So i reckon my estimated weight is now 830kg Power to weight ratio now 220.35bhp per tonne 27/8/10 Taken pictures of my battery nice small and most importantly light! Weighing in without the acid about 2.4kg and about 3kg with. Just to give you an idea of actually how small this thing is. In the rather empty engine bay... While i was fooling around the engine bay, compression tested me engine with great results, first of all my plugs were nice and tan colour which indicates proper fueling. Piston 1 - 189psi Piston 2 - 187psi Piston 3 - 188psi Piston 4 - 189psi Engine was warmed up to normal operating temps, now i havent heard of other starlets producing quite this high compression test results. Although the engine had only done 19,000km when i had it so it was pritty much new. I will definetly have to get this dynod again with the timing right this time! Thats its for this week, its bank holiday so im gonna go enjoy my self lol down the pub! 2nd September Trax is this weekend Sunday the 5th at Silverston and i cant bloody wait, so much so i have bought 4 track sessions to go with it! So i am hoping she holds up well as its a long drive home without taking a trailer. Rubber Anyway, got some decent rubber on my car now the UBER - Yokohama A048 Advan (same tyres they use on the Lotus exige), these tyres are even better than the yoko r888 so i cant wait to try them, although the price is reflected by that, they cost £300 a set!!, i learned that getting part worns for track was the way, managed to get two for just £100 with 75% tread left. I did have toyo T1R\\\'s on there which came with the car, bottom of picture but you can see the difference straight off with the ones above, i am really hoping that these tyres will give me the grip im currently lacking coming out of corners and limit the wheel spin with my non lsd starlet (LSD is a winter project!!) Brakes Ok so i have tryed the following pads on my car so far EBC - Green stuff - Fast Road use only EBC - Red Stuff - Fast road, light track use(On car today) EBC - Yellow stuff - Race pads - NOT TESTED Mintex - 1144 - Fast road, light track use Mintex - 1155 - Race pads - NOT TESTED EBC - Green stuff are a complete load of shit, dont waste your money, horrible fade, dull pedal feeling, difficult to judge braking performance under heavy braking. These sucked so much i actually checked i put them on properly, didnt like them for road driving, and there were near dangerous on track. DO NOT USE! Very disapointed with EBC on these pads, cheapest pads but definetly the worst. EBC Red Stuff - Put these on my car today to try at Silverstone, there a mid range pad in price at about £60 and designed for light track use, I found these to be quite good, they are very reasonably priced and they last longer than the mintex 1144's, a side effect of this though could be that they are heavy wearing on the discs. I found them to be good though and they performed as i expected for a mid range pad. A significant improvement over green, i would recommend buying these, but i do prefer the Mintex 1144 pad as an overall pad, both for day to day driving and track time. EBC Yellow stuff - Another one to test yet, but id rather go for the Mintex 1155 pads first, but then again the yellow race ones are substantially cheaper at £70 compared the mintex 1155 £95 Mintex 1144 - Fast road, light track use - these are supposed to be EBC RED competition, ill compare them after the weekend - however i have had two sets of 1144 and they are extremely good, be it off track or on it. Great cold performance as well as hot temps, do start to suffer brake fade under hard driving on track for 10-15mins. Lovely to use and give great feedback to the pedal, i really rate these pads. I noticed that on track though they wear down EXTREAMLY quickly, there just to soft a compound for hard use. As an example i went though an entire new set in 45 mins at Rockingham Motor Speedway, but this track is known for killing pads for the high speed braking. Mintex 1155 - Track use - Havent tried these yet solely for the reason that there £100 a set, i reckon these would probably be outstanding though, EBC so far havent impressed me and reading reviews on google im not alone as its full of bad reviews on them. If i buy a pair i\\\'ll update this, but im more likely to spend the money on a big brake upgrade me thinks. Changed my pads (anyone know why my pads are wearing a weird angle, thin one side and thicker the other? Got the redstuff ones ready to go on the car and also thought i would change the back ones, fuckin hell why didnt someone tell me you need a bloody special tool to push the pot in for the back ones, i was there for hours trying to squeeze it back in!!! My new Red stuff pads (they are good on my clio sport so thought i would try em) Pads on, easy peasy on the front - wish i could say the same about the back god dammit. September 6th (A bad mother fookin day) Ok so Trax went really well, except for the last lap on session 4, got so carried away racing I didnt notice that my car was running right into the red! I came off with a knocking noise from my sump, gutted, seems i have spun a bearing on the crank (havent taken it apart yet) but it sounds like a bottom end problem. I guess the heat has caused a bearing to fail, or the rough driving has some how managed to to starve one of the channels of oil and its gone tits up. (Since had it apart and i was right above, no.3 spun a bearing, the crank is ok though luckily, but already bought a new one!) Its made a mess of the caps, but done its job and saved the journal from scoring. (caps are soft metal to stop this) Bloody gutted as i have spent so much time on her the past few months, well its going to turn into a winter project now. It doesnt look like to much of a difficult job to repair, but it is an engine out job to get the crank out so its gonna be off the road for a while now. Need to sort out buying an engine crane and stand to do it properly, i guess this is a good opportunity to give me engine bay some TLC, get the engine repaired, cleaned, painted and will probably drop an LSD in for when it goes back together. Its probably gonna be quite here for a while now while i organise a repair, but it will be back, oh yes!!! Lesson learned, buy some decent dials for feck sake Taggart!!!!!!!! ha ha. Taggy 19th January 2011 FINALLY 4 months later and i have decided to crack on with the repair of my car (mainly because it was winter, cold and shit outside!) but I have sold my Rota Track R wheels yesterday, got a buyer for my old engine and a new engine lined up to buy. Decided to buy a full stock unit which has never been messed around with, i know its got a good chance of not being knackered! It looks ok from the pics, take a look, I can make a good few quid too by selling everything on it. Advert says its only done 29k, but i doubt that very much! time will tell, I hope to have the old engine out by the weekend, i\\\'ll let you know how i get on. 23rd January 2011 Agreed to collect the engine above on the 8th Feb, so in the mean time I have been busy this weekend getting the car ready. Taken the engine out. Engine is out (i labled everything this time so easier to put back together!) The old lump My filthy gearbox (but otherwise in good condition) My CV boots had come off and sprayed grease everywhere! The starter motor was caked in it. I am going to completly clean everything this time and make the engine bay nice and clean, gonna clean and spray the gearbox and also the same with the engine. 24th January 2011 Gearbox cleaned with GUNK and polished with a wire drill bit, ready to be sprayed Aluminium 26th January 2011 Its dark by 5pm so cant do much when i get home at 4pm! Used gunk on my engine bay today, brushed it everywhere and then used a power jet wash to clean it all up including the underside of the bonnet, looks much better. 14th Feb 2011 Ok so been fairly busy with the engine since i picked it up last week, been going mad selling everything that i dont need to get funds for all the new parts i need. Going to be putting in a bigger turbo this year, namely the TD04, but this means i need a new mani and decat and a few other bits and pieces. All on order anyway so should have it by next week. Fitted my quaife LSD too last week to my gearbox, made a quaility write up here on how to to fit it for everyone http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index....c=38922&hl= My old diff My New Quaife Helical LSD (its like watching porn fitting this thing lol), although a tad more expensive, with bearings you looking at nearly £800! but i got it £575 Next on my long list of things to do is to rotate my TD04 turbo that i bought last week, cost me £50, was from a 1996 WRX Subaru i belive, only 19k on the clock too, bit dirty but its in good condition (another thing to clean ) I just now need to order the oil lines for it! 16th Feb 2011 Sprayed my new Quaife LSD gearbox now that its all back together, the difference with it now compared to before (above) is amazing. I have also paid for my TD04 braided oil lines from nick, bought a load of new blue vacume hoses, ordered my Toyosports TD04 Manifold and Decat. I will be looking to put the engine back in within the next 2 weeks. 25th Feb 2011 Ok i have got so much going on at the moment my garage is getting a bit lost for all the parts that I have had turning up, my work bench has got starlet bits everywhere ha ha. I\'ll stick the pics up once its all together as there will be millions of them otherwise, but so far i have done the following work. - Purchased and Installed uprated Quaife LSD diff - Sprayed Gearbox silver - Fitted a new clutch (Exedy) - Fitted all new blue Silicone hoses everywhere - Rocker cover sprayed Lime Green by Ollie (thanks) - Bought a new TD04 Turbo - Rotated the turbo both sides (what a nightmare job that was) - Fitted braided oil feed - Bought and fitted an elusive TD04 Banjo bolt, bloody M10 x 1.5 Banjo, took me a while to get one!!! - bought and fitted new ToyoSports Manifold - bought and fitted new ToyoSports Decat - Taken off sump on new enigne and cleaned out, checked strainer to adequate oil flow (no way am i getting a bottom end go on me again!!) - Purchased and installed ProSport Premium series guages, Oil pressure, Oil temp, Boost - Installed a bunch of new senders to the engine which i had spare This engine is starting to look fookin lovely When its all together properly and I have got my rocker back from Ollie i\'ll put some pics up of it 1st March Ok so its been about 3 weeks since i have had this engine and its nearly all ready to go back in, just need to put my clutch on and get my rocker back from Oliie!! You can see its all bolted up and ready to go, TD04 is on, mani and Decat ready and I also had to make a custom bracket for the actuator, Oh and not to mention it must have taken about 2 hours to split that bloody turbo and rotate it, it was on solid!!, vice and hammer were a god send. Braided oil hose is on, havent bothered with the water lines (seems this is a common method). I quite like the turbo as its got the 90 degree bend in it already, think i will just mesh the badboy, chatter will be sweet. Finally with my Quaife LSD gearbox next to it, (not attached!) just need a clutch and im good to go. Some of you were asking how i made the bracket for the TD04 Actuator I used the bracket from the old CT9 turbo which the HKS actuator was mounted onto. First of all rotate the bracket, so the hks actuator sits further back (as below) The bracket holes currently make the actuator sit to far away, so another one is needed to be drilled (the middle one). This will fit nicely on the bolt which is places on the front of the turbo for the old actuator. I found one nut was sufficient to keep it on tight. The CT9 HKS actuator has a pin in it, but the TD04 wastegate arm also has a pin in it. You have got to remove the pin from the HKS actuator and make a nice hole in it with a drill so it will fit onto the TD04 wastegate arm. Once bolted on you can put a circlip on and jobs a gooden! 15th March 2011 Rocker cover has now been painted ready to go on - Loud isnt the word lol! its Kawasaki Green.(Thanks to Ollie for that)painted green and did the Toyota black, £40 well paid. While im at it i think im gonna paint my wing mirrors and wheels the same colour! All i need to do now is put my clutch back on and i\'ll be ready to drop the engine back in, I CANT WAIT!!!! 29th March 2011 Today i have sprayed the engine bay all up, sub frame and the slam panels black, got rid of all the rust, the thing looks like new!! BEFORE: AFTER: All i want to do now is bin all these crap old rubber pipes before i put the engine in, any extra bits and pieces i dont need will also be removed, im going to be cutting out the battery tray (1-2kg) taking out the redundant carbon filter, and some wire sensors and gubbins above the ignition pack, probably saving another 500grames. Exedy clutch now fitted and lined up, all botled together, cleaned, HKS leads and plugs. I just need to drain her now, flush her out and she will be ready to go back in the bay this week, fingers crossed. Engine all ready to go back in the bay 30th March 2011 I have to say I have exceled my self today, got a bit of sunshine after work and I thought fuck it, i dont have a crane just two jacks, wheels and wood - LETS TRY AND GET THE BITCH IN!!! A load of swearing and making my car like a low rider to get the engine in the mounts lol, its in Another of the masterpiece lol and to top things off as i was on a roll, i started to chop crap out of my car to make it lighter, removed most of the outer skin to my boot so its lighter, removed the rest of the aircon gubbin, removed shit loads of redundant wires, and chopped out anything in the boot that looked like i could get a cutter on without killing my self lol A good few KG of crap there! More to come this week 17th April Car is now all wired in and running, had a couple of leaks which i had to sort out from the Braided oil line (remember to use copper washers not steel) the rest seems to be running sweet, its got nearly 190psi across all 4 cylinders which i am really happy with! Got a couple of things im waiting to be delivered at the moment, new civic rad so i can bin that heavy piece of crap in there at the minute and some hoses, my current intercooler piping wont fit my Turbo so waiting on some bits to fit it on. Here are some pics of here, shes a bit filthy havent cleaned her in about 6 months!! I now love my engine bay A good clean is in order this week I am in the middle of wiring up my Prosport guagues, got them all hooked up now so they do a lovely dance when you first turn them on, they are well sweet. Had to do some hacking of the dash board to get them in but they are the business! havent stuck them down yet so need to tidy up the wires and position them, but you get the idea! I have set mine to white In the night time i have wired them so they turn red when you turn the lights on, sweet!!! It seems my bloody camber has gone all over the shop taking the suspension arms off, car is driving like a crab because the camber is miles out, so need to adjust that!! So all is left now is for me to do is Buy some Aerotech catches to secure bonnet New Alloy civic radiator replacement coolant hoses Some custom piping silicone hoses to hook up my intercooler Oil cooler Then get it rollin roaded and let the fun begin. 23rd April 2011 Fitted my new AeroCatches today to ditch the original bonnet catch and front bar section to save a bit of weight, plus the catches look the shizzle! New catches to be drilled and cut into the bonnet, shit this is going to be a right cahoont First you have to line up the catch to fit the pin which is going to be located directly underneath. Then you have to grow some balls and get cutting on your bonnet, ahhhh god i hope i dont cock this up cutting like a right bitch, it was actually quite easy once i masked off and drew with the template supplied. The finished product, i really like them and they lock too which is a bonus, i can now rip out all the redundant cable crap too from the old catch. Next on the list was to do my turbo pipe work, which had to be cut custom from my old CT9 setup to fit my TD04, with alot sweat, cutting and Mikalor clamps i managed to get it hooked up, i have also ordered all new silicone to replace the old ones in the picture All i have left to do now is fix a blowing gasket on my manifold and get some new battery terminals, then off to MOT! 19th May 2011 Ok so things have slowed down over the last month with the car, mainly due to my stag party which i have just come back from a few days ago, jesus that was a heavy weekend!! Car is running properly now and its finally been MOT'd, went straight through with no problems which was great. Then it was off to GotBoost to see what power my car was making. I had set the boost low as i didnt know what the fueling was like on it so the standard map is good for 0.7bar, i set mine to about 0.45 to be safe. Results are what i expected for the boost i was running on the turbo The first run at about 0.4bar was 127bhp (Blue dot is 1st run, Red dot is 2nd uprated boost) Seccond run at 0.6 was 142.8bhp (bloody hks actuator was fully wound in!) i had to go away and cut an inch off it to get it go tighter. Its now running at roughly 1bar and it seems to be pulling well, seems the TD04 doesnt give much power on low boost, im guessing the power is going to come on like a train when it spools up with more pressure! Here is the dyno print out Going back to get it fine tuned, with just a RRFPR and an FCD i will be happy with anything over 200bhp, a good map when i can afford it should get me to about 220 with any luck! 20th May 2011 Went to go get my GIGANTIC PEDO bear on my roof today but the printers printed it off then their laminating machine cocked up and crinkled it, so its got to be reprinted, then to top it off they ran out of material and now hes off to Dubai for 3 days, On the plus side i have got pedo bear picture bigger than me, will be good for the car shows at least So its happening, just got to wait another week, £50 for the whole roof! I havent cut anything out of my car for a while so i finished off removing all the boot skin, just to note though doing this does make your boot errrrrm how can i say floppy!!! all good though you can see its now just the outer skin! 25th May 2011 Finally got rid of that horrible heavy radiator that was on my car, got a nice light alloy Toyosports one Will fit this when the pipes arrive, idiots forgot to include it in my order!! I also seen one of these events Marques when i went to a track day in llandow and I had have one, they look the business and will be great for track days. Its massive and could fit two cars in it no problem! Good times!! 26th May Dam i have been trying not to spend so much money on my car this month and i have managed to burn nearly £350 already lol Got all the Geometry setup on the car today at Avia Autos in Bridgend, he specialises in race cars and i have had the car corner weighted and setup there in the past, great guy! Tracking and camber setup for track, corners now like its on rails! 29th May 2011 Radiator is now in, just waiting on my rad hoses which didnt turn up! Not much to do now before i can unleash the weapon, an oil cooler and one more power run and im good for the track. People were on about needing custom brackets for this rad, but i found i could fit it easily just using the standard brackets. I put one of the posts in the standard rad holes and then the right side of the rad sits ontop of the other one, then with two rad brackets bent a bit on top i screwed it down and its bolted down tight and not going anywhere! 5th June 2011 Finally after many weeks of waiting, the Bear is now here so there is no way in hell you can miss me on track lol, thanks to Hansign for the graphics, which in case your wondering were £50 for the entire roof. Ben Hansen putting on the graphics The finished monster P.Bear - I love it! at home! I cant wait to get out on track in her. On a side note i managed to fuck my turbo that weekend too, not the cars fault but my bloody impatience trying to repair an oil leak on my turbo which in turn managed to block the oil exit pipe and knacker the oil seal on my TD04 - Suffice to say my car dumped about a litre of oil into my exhaust!! So pissed off I have just had to spend another £80 on a turbo, but at least this time i managed to get a TD04L Just in the process of rotating it, ill post up some pics when i get them. 6th July 2011 Mad bloody rush to get the car ready for Japfest 2 as usual, but got lots of good updates First of all got the car Dynod today, i was aiming for 1 bar but i hit the 200+ barrier i was aiming for so less boost = more reliability on track so happy! Made 201bhp at the crank and its only running at 0.93bar with a stock ECU! Results below Also of all things holy finally the oil cooler came along that i have been after with the all important thermostat and filter relocation kit! GOOD TIMES, so now i can fit my other oil and oil temp Prosport Gauges. 12th July 2011 Donnington went amazing, no problems at all on track and the car was handling so good i was bloody blitzing everything, the TD04 combined with the LSD have transformed the car into a weapon!! I have now fitted the oil cooler and senders, connected the oil temp just need to do the pressure. 15th July 2011 All my Prosport dials are now plumbed in and working Car is coming along really well now and i have pritty much completed my wish list i wanted to do to it this time last year. So what i want to do next to complete it is Big Brake Upgrade - Got my sights on WMS, but it requires me to remove my CT9 braided lines to fit and also parting with the best part of £650, owch! New set of Yokohama A048 tyres - Want a set of 4, but they aint cheap! new were talking £600 a set! New Cobra bucket seats, I have got a set of Cobra bucket seats in it which came with the car, but they are heavy, uncomfortable on long runs and torn. That will be it for the car then, i will be well happy with that setup 24th July 2011 Seen a sweet deal on some track rubber, the Yokohama A048 semi slick tyres (still road legal just!) A set of 4 of these would normally cost you over £600! I managed to get some part worn ones with loads of meat on them for £180, bargain!! Finally i can get rid of those crap road tyres on the rear end. Also its worth noting these tyres are considerably lighter than road tyres as well as R888. Ooooof! 10th August Going to start a video section of all the tracks my car has been too, here is Pembrey and my Starlet GT Pembrey Race Circuit 10/8/11 Enjoy! Rip Car, Castle combe 11th September 2011 Fair well GT this is the end of this build thread and the car is now being broken for the EP70, if you need any parts its all being except the engine, gearbox and shafts/hubs. You did me proud!! Broken brake line ended the car at castle combe, still drives fine but took heavy cosmetic damage EP70 here we come!

what size tyres do people run on 15's also?
-
yeah i have Rota Track R's on mine already, but there in 16's but there no good for track days really on my starlet as they limit the tyre choices due to the low profile tyre.

I am in the market for changing my 16's to 15's, want some lightweight track ones. Can anyone recommned a set which are light but not ridiculously expensive? Mine are currently 7.4kg a rim

What weights are your cars guys, perspex windows i have been seriously considering, did you get them made or did you buy them ready made, where can i get them from? Next dry day im gonna gut it out, got a lightweight racing battery on order I can see myself getting really anal about making it as light as possible lol Want to replace my wheels too, currently there 16's so think i can save a few kg by putting 15's on, plus i think it will handle better I have got a cobra seat in the drivers at the moment, got another one for the passenger but im having a nightmare getting a rail for it, no way in hell am i paying £200 for a new one!!!

Been doing track days for nearly a year in the trusty ep82 starlet now and she is loving it! Running at about 185bhp 0.98bar with coilovers and its sweet. I dont think i need any more power for the time being as utilising what i have got seems to be the cheapest option, next is lsd but what i want to know is what weight can i get my lovely starlet down too. Had it corner weighted a while back and with a tank of fuel its coming in at 880kg, still got everything inside, the only thing i have stripped out is the Aircon unit (which was bloody heavy!) What weight can i get her down too, i really want to get her into the 7xxkg zone, is this possible. Any advice on stripping her down for weight saving would be appreciated, whats the quickest most beneficial route to go down. I dont know if anyone has done it yet, but when i strip it i'll weigh everything so future people can see where to save what where Cheers Craig

The rest of the day is full of other events on track and stands at the circuit. Pembrey is a great track and this is a bargain!! Me and my friend are going down from Swansea so it would be good to see some other Welsh starlets on track
