Taggys Track Day Slut - Mission To Get Her Sub 7xxkg!
Taggy replied to Taggy's topic in EP80/EP82 Progress Blogs
Its already been tested by another member so its cool, I also updated the car blog with more info on tyres and brake pads -
There doesnt seem to be much choice for pads on the back other than standard stock ones. I have been playing around with different pad setups on the front, tried green stuff, complete pile of shit on track, tried mintex 1144 and really liked them, now i wouldnt mind trying the 1155 but there quite expensive at nearly £100 a set delivered so im gonna give the red stuff a try and see how they go! but anyway im buying from camskill and they only sell stock standard rear pads, is this what everyone else uses?

Yeah i'll strip it out first to what im happy with, then ill take it down to get it corner weighted again to see what the weight disribution is like. I think you can transfer it diagonally across the car by adjusting the coilovers. Still got plenty more to do yet before that though! -

new race batt in compression results -
Its got braided lines fitted, as its worn the disc unevenly i guess i have no choice but to replace the discs

Hi I know the rear brakes only do about 20% of the braking, but mine seem to be really bad. Any car i have driven 9/10 you should be able to lock up the rear wheels with the hand brake, or at least slow the car down with what feels like a usual amount of rear wheel braking using just the hand brake. Mine simply... dont! Handbrake doesnt feel loose and need adjusting but its really bad, Its impossible to lock the wheels with it and also the performance slowing down with it is terrible. I looked at the discs one side has worn evenly, but the other has only worn 50% of the disc with the pad, t

yup thats what im doing

Hi Does anyone know what the best way is for me to change my 5 windows to polycarb. I have seen a company online selling them but there nearly £300. I understand i need 4mm thickness, can someone point me in the right direction, is it best to just make them my self, if so where should i buy the polycarb and whats best to cut it. Any info would be great Cheers Craig

I had thought about this but didnt want to start cutting into the structure of the car, im worried it may effect the stiffness of the car so im gonna leave that alone. Loads of other easier areas to weight save, so gonna do those first. -

update on what i been up to last week -
Interesting figures on the compression, i'll have to test mine tomorrow and see what i get to compare. I'll post em on my build thread tomorrow, ooo got some new lightweight magnesium wheels on mine now too!!, my wheels are 35% lighter than my old ones and it makes a noticeable difference in straightline pickup! Cant wait for Trax to give em a go on track

I am going to this with another club sw-msc, im on their club stand but would like to meet up with other starlet owners as i had a great time in Japfest 2!! My friend has backed out coming though so would be cool to meet up so im not walkin around on my tod!! Anyone from Wales going up??
-
Ah thats a shame Do you mind if i ask what setup you had, mine is being used heavily for track days at 180bhp running 0.98bar, im just wondering how long she will last like this! Its all stock apart for the mods to support 1bar. Is going well at the moment though

After a really good track weekend at Japfest 2 and looking through loads of cool photos of the starlets on track, i have been toying with the idea on getting my car wrapped. My car is black so its pritty forgettable when you see it on track, I really liked the Jap Manga on the cars (seen some on the drift cars) and i think im gonna get that done. Car is being made into a track slut now so its unlikely im ever gonna sell it on as im having to much fun with it, has anyone dressed any Starlets up with crazy jap anime? Just want the car so it looks cool and its easy to spot me , im thinking Mang

Didnt this one go bang at Llandow? I remember seeing a two tone red one smoking heavily braking for the chicane at the end of the straight with it progessively getting worse! Is this one still alive?
-
Car is looking great and looking forward to the build unlucky about that bloody back panel though , at least it will get fixed though! I really could do with cleaning up my bay its stinking!!
-
Come on guys there must be some starlets for Trax out there!!
-
Doing all these track days i have found that the starlet has two major weak points the stock brake setup, even with uprated pads and discs its just to much for the current callipers, 10-15mins of heavy track driving and i have to come off as the brakes cook them selves, i think i must be boilin the brake fluid or somthing as the brake pedal goes really soft and to the floor. The other one is the power delivery, the combination of lightweight and high torque just lights the tyre up, so my track plan is super sticky tyres to try get more traction and eventually uprated brake system and lsd (bu

Loving the pics and video Yours does light up the inside wheel quite bad doesnt it, mines the same. Although its difficult on the throttle you should have a go at feathering the throttle through the corners to limit the wheel spin, its hard to do as the temptation to just floor it is always there, i try to feather as much as possible so its only wheel spinning slightly and as soon as the car is nearly straight i'll give it the full beans. Makes quite a bit of difference getting the power down as otherwise your wheel spinning in the corner and also in a straight line which is bad Just gotta

Had an amazing day today guys, best track action day by far and was great seeing all the club starlets I havent had that much fun on track in ages, i was driving the little starlet to within an inch of its life!!!! Couldnt believe how much of a difference strippin out the car has made and I have only just started, was bloody overtaking everything. Ha ha i can see it now already, i was side by side down the straight overtaking, scoobys, evos, nsx's, lol, only couldnt get past one car on the day which was a bonkers integra i think - Although that driving did kill my brakes, i put on brand new
