My current setup with a stock ct9 turbo is currently putting out about 185bhp with the correct supporting mods, however I believe that is the limit for a ct9 turbo. (or can i squeeze more out of it with the help of a rolling road) Can i run 200bhp without having to go forged? and more to the point will it be reliable or blow up in 3 months time I am guessing to make the extra HP i would need to go down the road of a hybrid ct9? Can i also get away with my standard injectors? My setup is in detail on my build thread "Taggys track slut" How much can i pick up a hybrid to do this too Nice

Someone has offered to buy my engine off me from my starlet which has spun a bearing, he wants to go forged so needs an engine. How much should i sell it to him for, bearing in mind its spun a bearing. It wont include any of the ancilleries with it

Its like a tin can now lol, is the spare wheel boot well quite heavy then? Do you just cut it out and then get an aluminum sheet and cover it? I really want to get rid of that bloody steel fuel tank and opt for an aluminum one, but its gonna have to be a custom made job.

god knows where im gonna get the money from, but while that engine and gearbox is out, an LSD is going in!

I need to buy some aerotech bonnet pins, I really like the design on them, however how the hell do you cut holes in your bonnet without making a mess of it to fit these things. I can imagine they are a right bitch to fit, anyone tried them?

I have been wanting to do this to my car for ages, my friend owns a vinyl company and I want to go for somthing a bit nuts to make it look distinictive when driving on track. Definetly gonna go for a manga theme and i was pissin my self at the idea of a big Pedo bear on the roof! I have one on my boot so why not eh lol

Getting rid of weight is a far easier and more reliable method for more performance on track, you can brake quicker, go faster Plus the starlet is so light it is very difficult to keep all the power down without lighting up the tyres as it is. See how it goes with an LSD first ;)

I know the idle control valves do make a ticking sound and some people do say its louder on other starlets. Its the grey unit directly boltled to the left of the inlet manifold. Put you ear next to that and see if thats where it is coming from, i know mine used to make a notceable click with the bonnet open. I cant hear mine in the car when driving though,

bah my friend has let me down with the engine crane, i am in two minds to buy one or hire one as I can see my self using it again in future lol Think i have sold my old 16inch Rota track R's on here today too, so thats some extra funds towards a new lump

I been sittin on this one since it happend as i havent been motivated, but with the wiff of track season coming back up, im starting to get on the case. I labled all the engine bay pipes up last week so gonna start taking it apart Sunday. I am gonna take this out, take a quick look at the crank and see if its scored or not, if it is im not gonna mess around repairing it and taking a risk. I break the engine, turbo the lot and sell it. I have got another complete engine lined up for £600 which includes all the turbo, everything. So i can just drop it straight in without messing around

Hi Trying to get the courage together to start on this bottom end rebuild, i have changed an engine in my starlet before last year, but never attempted this! I cant find any info or guides anywhere on it, can someone post me some advice on dismating it. I'll get the engine out and have it on my work bench, i just need to know whats involved in the job. i.e once i take the sump off, i'll have the crank, caps etc, anyone know a rough step by step guide from memory then can post here. Do i need any special tools also? I have found a company to skim my crank if need be and also sourced the b

So whats the deal with people mentioning 5e setups and this is a good oportunity, looked into it and what benefits does this bring? Why is 5e more preferable over 4e?

yup you couldnt have put it better, no point crying about it, i could be lucky with minimal damage or it could be screwed, wont know till its out Does anyone have any figures on prices for me to do a bottom end rebuild, im actually quite interested to do it, will probably be my winter project!

Ahh this sucks, anoying thing is that i had a bottom end from my old engine but when i moved house recently I never thought i would need it so scrapped it, typical!

Bah.. Im not keen on putting in a new lump, it took me ages to find the one that i put in it. There is so much crap on the net for sale that its pot luck if you can get your self a good one. I think the engine i have got is still in good nick as it was making about 189psi across the cylinders, It doesnt knock on idle and when you drive it slow, just when you start going over about 3000rpm it does, so im hoping its not suffered to much damage. I havent got a clue what my next step to do is now, so need advice what should i do to properly inspect whats wrong first?

At Trax yesterday (Silverstone) i pushed the starlet a bit to hard and I have damaged the bottom end. Was getting carried away trying to get past an EVO and didnt notice my car was right in the red on the thermostat guauge and also some other tell tale signs that it was time to ease off!! I initially noticed a slightly different noise coming from the car when reved hard to around 6600rpm, this happend for about 5 mins, then on my last lap at the chequered flag came out i noticed a distincy metallic sound slowing down kinda like it going zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
