  1. Yes good point, whats the clearance on this from the ground
  2. I agree, baffled sump seems to be the way, I have spun a bearing before on track at Silverstone which confused the hell out of me at the time as the engine was in good nick with low miles, so was wondering how the crank got packed in. Seems oil surge could have been the problem as the original sump design allows the oil to easily flow out of it. I would be very interested in a baffled sump.
  3. After seeing a few posts about baffled sumps to stop oil surging when corning hard around a track for example, i was wondering if fitting an oil cooler would prevent surging as effectively you are inserting an extra 1 litre oil buffer before the oil is reinserted back to the engine. I wasnt sure if the oil gets sucked straight from the sump to the head, or does it go via the sump then the filter and then back to the head and sump again, which order does it do it in? If that makes any sense!!
  4. GTEC Modified car show is on the 7th August with track time for Pembrey, get your names down!! There is also track time, its open pit lane and at a bargain price of £70 for a morning or afternoon session (go on as much as you like so about 5hrs of track time, or a full day for £130! I am going down with my starlet and my friend is taking his clio sport, its a car show so loads to look at. I went last year and it was good crack.
  5. Wise words Jozinobi, i think buying new is the way forward with a WMS kit. Like you said you get warrenty and after sales support too. Thanks
  6. ah right i have been misinformed then!!
  7. Yeah thats what i did, bought some gunk and a brush and spread it over everything, rubbing with the brush on any caked on stuff, then jetwashed it off in Morristons, just make sure you put plastic bags over the main electrics, coil pack, dizzy cover etc
  8. Buying new brakes soon but i am wondering what peoples thoughts are on either a new set of WMS brakes or buying a 2nd hand set of Willwoods. The brakes are two pot for the WMS and 4 pot for the Willlwoods, what differences are there over running 2 vs 4 pots Car is just a track car with a few miles on the road. Recommendations?
  9. Not sure if yours has the black kmh to mph converter sticking out the top but it will unscrew counter clockwise, if its springing back to the same position its because the sheath is spinning with it. Get some grips hold the cable sheath to stop it from spinning, then get another set of grips and turn the screw section, it might be a bit tuff but it should screw off.
  10. Yummy rubber bought, got a bunch of track days to do this month. Llandow 31st July - Whoop Sparkys arse lol Pembrey 7th August - Free for all if anyone wants in i think its £120 Anglesey - 17th August wed - Love the look of this track and will be the first time i have been on it Bring it on!
  11. Thanks for the info guys, job for the weekend
  12. ok now i just need someone to help me push the brake pedal
  13. I am looking to completly flush out my brake fluid lines and resevouir, brakes are very spongy after over heating the brakes numerous times on track. I am just wondering the best way to do it, should i just open up all the bleed valves and just pump it all out, then fill it back up or should i just open one at a time and top up the resevour as i pump it out to avoid filling the entire system with air. I just want to ensure i have got all the old fluid out as its contaminated with loads of air from boiling. Cheers Taggy
  14. I'll be going on track throughout the day so if you want a passenger ride with me get involved, come on get your names down!!
  15. I had a stock clutch in mine for over a year at about 180bhp with no problems of slipping and when i changed the engine i checked it and it looked like it had hardly worn at all in that time. I am running about 200bhp now with a stock Exedy replacement clutch and its still not slipping, I am starting to wonder how much the standard clutch can handle, clearly more than i expected lol I think any paddle race clutch will do, just depends on how deep your pockets are!
  16. As long as your not racing and its just a track day they wont care, they dont inspect the cars. They just rely on your self to ensure that your seatbelts and car are in good working order to MOT standards. I wouldn't worry about it
  17. You should be able to get your self a mint big power starlet for that kind of money, just make sure you buy one with some history on it, probably better to get one from the forum than a random from pistonheads
  18. Got another video of the first session with Ryans Brother as passenger Next time on gonna mount that bloody camera on the windscreen so i can see what the hells going on!!
  19. I am going down the same route this month, sick of having a spongy pedal for brakes Although i have done a bit of research its not particularly cheap to do it. WMS kits will go straight on without the need to feck about, so will just be a direct replacement. For everything your talking around £650 for twin pots calipers, discs, lines and pads. I have seen a few Willwood kits going around but i have been reading up on them and a few people have had problems with them fitting properly, even though its going from the same car to another. I am gonna go with WMS, plus i would prefer to b
  20. Doesnt look like hes been online since the 29th June, that was his last post, Holiday maybe?
  21. This happened to be me for ages, the simple solution in addition to your mikalor clamps is of all things "Hairspray" As dull as it sounds it works, since using it on mine they havent come off once. The hairspray forms a super grippy surface with the metal pipe and it will NEVER blow off So go get some of your mrs hair spray, spray on your pipe and hose, clamp on leave for a bit and jobs done, its the cheapest easiest way to do it, don't need to mess around bending pipes or using messy glue
  22. its all about the grill off these days hurry up and get your car fixed, i wanna whoop you on track lol
