Mindless' Glanza Street Car build - DONE!!! (for now...)
mindless replied to mindless's topic in EP91 Glanza Progress Blogs
I just actually had them made. It's your standard turbo decal for toyota suv's I think maybe from the landcruisers (which share the same lettering/font with our turbo emblem) Thanks man appreciate it -

In this ten lap race we joined we did start to feel a bit of heat soak at about 7th/8th lap – but I really didn't design this to be a race car since I have a gt turbo dedicated for that purpose. Driving daily though I haven't noticed it much, maybe after an hour in standstill traffic during the day. Otherwise you wouldn't even notice that it was still on the stock TMIC. -

Thank you! Hey if ever you find yourself in the Philippines for any reason, just hit me up and I'd gladly show the car to you Thank you man. Yeah I myself thought that I wouldn't be able to actually see this build completed after several setbacks. You really just need to be persistent. I actually have a slightly different setup now than when I had it on the dyno. But anyway here is the previous dyno sheet numbers. These are all at the wheel figures – with the stock ct9 turbo at 1bar, ported stock exhaust manifold, manual boost controller (I misplaced my AVCR boost contro -

So, I really haven't found the time to update this with what's been happening with the car. Mainly because I've just been enjoying driving her daily. And now it's actually been about a year after we built this car – so I decided to take her up to the mountains (as I've done with my previous ones) and finally take a video of her. You'll see some of the new updates I did to the car in the vid that never made it to this thread. She's not a supercar by any stretch of the imagination – but she is quick enough. After a year of being daily driven – she's definitely far from being pristine. T -

I have a couple of updates with the car and I'll update the build thread as soon as I get my thoughts organized. But first here's a pic from a shoot we did last nigh with a friend's Civic SiR. -

Thanks! I initially had it made to cover up a huge scratch some asshole did on my car, but I actually ended up keeping it. -

Took the Glanza to another track day this weekend. Suspension still needs a bit of tuning (and better tires) and we still need to increase the boost up a bit. But otherwise it was fun, no dramas. Drove to the track ran the event and drove right back home. -

@TrisK even these TE37V's are very light. I was actually surprised at how light it was because I was expecting otherwise. You can lug one wheel around with one hand. I'd say around 4-5 kilos each -
Yep it's the 16v ones that can take a good amount of boost

Thanks guys... @Vincent-ep91 I don't exactly know what it's called but its those thin rubber moulding that they use to line fender flares... We used it to line the whole OEM kit to give it a bit of contrast and to actually protect the body from scratching against the kit's sharp edges. Also I've recently found a "ghetto" solution to having a sound system while still keeping the glanza lightweight. Here's what I did: >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TD1zwgQj4Y -

I think you can just dissect the inner reflective part and still keep the lens and the housing of the RHD headlights so the size remains the same... -

@JayJ unfortunately I'd need a pair of LHD headlights (probably from LHD starlet reflets) so I can convert the headlights to work properly with LHD roads. But as it is I just maxed out the adjustment of the headlights to get as near as I could to the proper alignment, and its working fine at the moment. -

Quick update. I've just really been enjoying the car these past few months breaking in the newly refreshed engine. Immediately after that I took it to its first lap around the race track. She did a decent 2m31.871s despite hitting the speed limiter down the main and back straights. Stock boost, stock ECU. Fortunately this just came in... Had a special Y Socket made with emanage and avcr wires spliced into it. I think its time to get rid of that speed cut and get a modest tune out of the engine Bonus photo, here she is attending one of the local car meets: -

Took her out for a spin to grab breakfast. After that fixed a couple of small niggles with the car. -

Thank you guys for all the kind words. by the way I'm still on the lookout for an LHD dash from an EP90/91 or 96-99 Tercel/Paseo to really set the build off. If you guys have any leads or have one I can purchase just let me know! Thanks! -

Thanks guys! @FMuscle yep even the R34 is converted to LHD as well. Its illegal to drive RHD cars here so all RHD cars have to be converted -

Apologies for the lack of updates, but between getting the build done, selling of my EK9 and buying an R34 Skyline I had too much going on to focus on documenting the rest of the build. That said, the good news is that – SHE'S FINALLY DONE!!! Here are some photos of her: Hanging out with a friend's Celica GT205 With her Skyline big brother
