So, come the end of the month i'll be purchasing a 4E-FTE engine as the major item I need to check of my 'To buy list'. The parts will be bought over several months and converted in may. So there's going to be a lot of parts missing from this list, so I need people to fill me in! The spec is a COMPLETELY standard 4E-FTE. Just to make sure the engines healthy ect.. So what I new from my knowledge; -4E-FTE -Glanza ECU -Glanza Wiring Loom -Glanza Dashboard (This is for plug & play loom swap, is this not 100% possible on a N/A dash?) -Glanza Dials As far as I know I can use my N/A gearbox? And the N/A driveshafts? - correct me if I'm wrong! The rear axel will be swapped once the engine is settled in, in the following month. Obviously for the rear pads not drums! So, what have I missed! Lewis.

Jesus that looks horrendous! I'll have to consult my electrician friend soldering is way out my league! Lewis

Looking at a set of Glanza dials on eBay and I'm wondering what's the kind of work I need to do to make all the gauges work...? I.e.. Speedo,Rev counter, Fuel and temperature? Is it a case of plug & play? Or is it more complicated? Hopefully someone had already done it and can shed some light! Lewis.
-
That is possible yes, but me being a perfectionist I would love to make use of the OEM switch which I have with them.. You can easily wire them to ignition so when it's on there open and off they close. It looks like that's what I'm going to have to do In fairness..
-
Right thanks lyle! I was actually hoping instead of having them Work of the ignition, intact they can be made to work as per usual! I.e from the switch ect.. Any other input!?
-
In the picture the item on the left with a blue plug is the back of the connector. Would appreciate the diagrams lyle! Thanks Item on the left is the SWITCH I mean!
-
Hopefully someone could enlighten us soon!
-
I was hoping the Glanza loom wasn't needed or a relay. Was kind of hopin some kind of bodge could be made, spading the connectors ect... Surely from looking at wiring diagrams, you can see what the colour of wires do and therefore cut and splice them jnto our own 'mini loom' Lewis

Bought some Glanza electric folding mirrors! From Socks! So I'm baffled as how to make these works as in guessing in the Glanza it would have the existing plugs which plug into the mirrors then into the switch... I have two pictures with the back of the switch, and also the wing mirrors plugs. How could I make them work?.. Would appreciate the help! ... Thanks

Can someone please shed some light as to why its costings you both next to nothing!? I know the V is all swapping straight over, is it literally pull my sportif loom out and replace with the V and new wiper stalks ect..? The only thing that theroetically need splicing is ignition?

Personally id like to budget around £800-£1000 and do it on the SEVERE cheap. Have it running as a completely standard 4E-FTE fix any niggles and go from there..
-
Yeah thats very true. So i should forget about the stupid ebay £800 ones? I'd like to buy a smashed glanza, but still they hold there value becuase of the breaking value.. I was looking into buying running GT Turbo's, can pick them up for under a £1000... and there easier to convert with the looms (I've read) Wheres the best places to find engines? I havent seen any for the kind of price range..
-
Basically i want to begin saving to turbo my sportif! Im looking around on eBay and most the engines are from the same braker and vary between £800-£900... They seem to be demanding there own price because there the main eBay seller of engines.. Whats your personal opinion? Do you think there overpricing and i shouldnt pay that much for the engine? What would be my best option in buying an engine? Only interested as im making a spreadsheet up to cover the overal costings and to give me an idea of how much i need to save! Lewis.

Got it back from te garage today! Apparantly doing my seats were a tricky job as if was fiddly to strip them down and cut away the reclining mechanisms and leave the bare brackets in a usable sliding position! Happy with how it turned out got a few snaps none quite do them justice I'll get a side frame shot later too! What to you all thing? Brand spanking new seats and harnesses!
-
Thank you! Still a work in process!
-
Out of interest, what work have you guys done on my little beaut then?
-
Yeah that is bons old car, and he's a top guy! Still talk over Facebook about starlets with him! You think the scoop would be better silver? I was kinda going for a black theme. When I put the splitter back on it will also be black as its faded from black. When it's back on I'll whack a picture up and let you guys see what you think! I have a picture of the seats in the EG6 track car they came out of I'll post it in a minute.

Starlet's...Starlet's...Starlet's... Where do you begin? Such a cool beefed up little car! From the minute one overtook me and completely disappeared into the distance on the M25 i wanted one! They remind me off Micra's on a heavy dosage of steriods! I've been driving almost 2 years, and my previous cars were DUBs. I was heavily into the VDub scene and having 2 MK4 golfs (Common as muck) i loved them regardless. My previous car to the Starlet was a MK4 Golf - GT TDI. Which was suprising fun and fast! Torque in all 6 gears and being an oil burner it was cheap to run! Here's a picture; Since spending alot of money on the golf, i decided enough is enough, Plus, everyone i knew had Jap"crap" as i used to say, so i thought lets jump on the bangwagon and be different! I decided on the starlet and there is literally non in my town. Closest being 20 miles away. Which is a bonus, So regardless of me not having the turbo my car is the only one your see! Which to me is priceless! So; I bought the car from a Previous member on here in early December. The car was located in Nottingham. Which was 223 miles from where i am based in the South East (Eastbourne). I knew the car was the "one" so it was somthing i just had to do! I travelled up on Saturday evening and low and behold i was driving it home. 440 miles later and a severe lack of sleep i had it on my driveway the following morning! Here's some pictures i have off the car i recieved from the previous owner! The car is a N/A EP91 1998. It has no Electric windows or anything fancy? So i think its the Sportif model? I'm unsure regardless! So far the car hasn't missed a beat! and to be honest the car has taken abit of a beating in the breif ownership its had with me! I do treat my cars and so far, the cars taken shap in a short amount of time! I dont have many current pictures to date because ive been a lazy git and havent bothered cleaning it or anything recently as it's just downpour after downpour! The current list of mods i have added are; - Full Glanza replica - Sticker bombed - Custom fabricated Cobra exhaust system (Cat-Back) - K&N air filter - Corolla air intake manifold - De-Wipered - Black door frames - Lowered 40mm (on springs) - Laguna Splitter (Which i managed to rip off..I didn't realise how low the front really was @ 40mm) Modification's i have personally added; - Gloss black vinyl roof - Gloss black wing mirrors - Fully stripped interior - D2 bucket seats - Sabalt 4-point harnesses - Momo 3 Spoke steering wheel - LED Sidelights - Red Radiator Hoses - Red Silicone hoses throughout the engine bay - Red condruit enclosing the wiring in the engine bay - Carbon fibre wrapped centre console & door trims Here's a picture before i begun working on her! After i had the roof vinyl done in gloss black! - Poor quality though; A little video i made off my friend taking her for a quick spin! This was the day after i bought it! So far i adore the car! And the list of things i want to do and achieve carrys on and on.. Eventually im hoping to buy a Glanza or Starlet GT donor car and do a full turbo 4E-FTE conversions! Opinions and comments are welcomed! I'd love some feedback and some pointers on where to go next with the project! Thanks for reading!
