  1. Can't be worse than my rollered nato green job dude...stick at it...no paint is irreversable...at worst its a flat and blowover...she'll be grand!
  2. Thanks, you know what - I googled this, looked back at pictures of other cars I have had, the full works ... still wasn't sure haha ... ended up going on the assumption that the closer coils were at the top as the average little bump wouldn't use them whereas once you have a lean on they would be worked ... also the front were that way round and they are slightly conical so took the option away ... nevermind, they will be back off for some altitude adjustment soon anyway grinder > coilies ;) (on my budget anyway) just wanted to see how she settled. Will sort it out then. Cheers for a
  3. Ouch those arches cleaned up a treat tho! I have 2 aerosols of that green I bought for mine before changing my mind, can have them for postage and a red bull...pm if you want them dude. Look foward to seeing where this goes...i'm all about a no money project
  4. Cheers guys...interior next...then round 2...lower...and if you haven't heard of 'kanjo' style have a quick google
  5. Looks like a good start! Mine had the ghost of that made in japan sticker...i can see it when the window steams up haha.
  6. Old mirrors will prob go back on...they need a refurb and just wanted to try these...they are shit all use haha.
  7. Stuff has happened!!! I am writing this after *checks clock* 32 hours of working on the old girl haha. Not going to pretend the end results are amazing, and there is still a lot to do, but it is much less embarrassing now haha. Strip and prep: Painting bumpers pov spec grey as per my last one... Rear washer line disconnected and plugged... Stubby exhaust a-la grinder!!! Slept in the car...grim...was mid job though... Slightly smaller mirrors - haha... And boom there you have it... I am literally too tired to even get
  8. Lows and ghetto filter - done... Put a cone filter on, but I can't deal with the noise anymore, am getting too old haha... So simply made a gauze to silicone in place of the standard filter, definitly an increase in sound, but nowhere near that of a cone... 99% of the time a boxed filter produces better results anyway, due to the air temps being lower, but lets face it I only had about 30BHP to start with haha Also fitted some Pi springs, have heard they were good, but also they are red, and we all know that adds power too, right?! Shocks are all only a few months old
  9. We should get a portsdown hill meet going for us hampshire / sussex lot car looks great.
  10. Soooo not been up to a great deal... Managed to find my mate Dan a sportif with 84,000 miles, 8 months MoT, 4 months tax and half a tank of juice for...£160!!!!! So went and got that and had like a 3 hour long race home lol...crappest convoy ever! Then today went to the scrappy and found me some seats - suzuki swift buckets, a bit like glanza seats... Need a good clean obviously...then bodge them in somehow!
  11. So much love for this...was already on the lookout for some bodies but this has cranked my want level up a notch! Good work
  12. Well...she passed her MoT with 1 advisory - blowing exhaust...winning...now to make her all silly and do all the things I couldn't before the test lol. In todays news... Such stripping, much lightness, very arch gap, so dirty, such roof-fuzz...wow... Big...BIG things coming bank holiday weekend...next weekend am out for my Birthday and should deffo not be near tools haha.
  13. Hmm cheers thought that may be the case, I just knew of one kicking around. Will look for the 4 2 1 corrolla mani if I can find one...I'm fine with making bits of the exhaust system but not quite at manifold level yet! Shame the standard ones are so crap, used to get great results port matching on my old minis.
  14. Hi...was just wondering if anyone had ever fitted a turbo mani to an n/a before ... and if so was there a decent gain? I know something would have to be fabricated to replace the turbo section...some form of bypass / blank... I have previously bought a n/a manifold to port match etc but as I'm sure you know they aren't really do-able as rather than being 100% cast like a lot of manifolds they are almost like a split pipe with a lip as you look down into it...hard to explain... Obviously a n/a mani could be fabricated or imported but with the amount of nice second hand, cheapish turbo mani'
  15. Booo...keeping us in suspense ;) As long as its not this...
  16. All I can think about when you say black and red is how cool the advan colours would look
  17. Cheers Josh, was reading your thread earlier too...like the direction it's headed! Yes the paint (on mine) is shocking...50 shades of ghey. All of the starlets for sale seemed to be immaculate and about 1500 quid or 400 quid poobags like this one!
  18. ^^^^ whuuuut no way! Although surely this car can make you a big profit in parts! I really like it...dibs on that barry rev counter!
  19. Sorry for slow reply - and thanks for the advice... Turns out - roll down the window, gently pry the outer strip vertically upwards, if you try pulling at it you will likely break the little plastic clips it slots into
  20. Right - part 2 - There isn't really a lot of pictures so far as 1) the car was never going to be a project and 2) it's ugly as feck! So I picked it up - hanging, 115k, no service history, knocking snapped exhaust, brakes were attached but didn't seem plumbed in, 2 non functioning stereo's installed (WTF), and dirtier than a 3am kebab. Bought the old MX5 wheels back off of Dan, chucked some new tyres on, fitted 4 new shocks, new discs and pads, new cat, droplinks, rear shoes, backbox, serviced everything bar the cambelt...erm...cleaned it - it was full of bricks, glass, wood - the i
  21. Well - it's happened again - for the 2nd time I have bought a Starlet to run around in, and then got all attached to it!!! Bit of a backstory first - I got into Starlets totally by accident - after having a car written off I found a beaten up, rear ended Starlet, high mileage for next to nothing - I smashed the rear end roughly into shape and then started dicking about with it - it became a euro look hatch, lowered on cut fiesta and jag xj6 springs - a small van and then a b-road blaster in its time with me, before being sold to my friend Dan so I could buy a 'nice' car again, I would have k
  22. Love the way this is heading, good to see it being used hard too! Used to run the same wheel / tyre / spring setup on my old beater ... with a standard glanza front brace and a welded rear brace it stuck really well...nothing fancy...just some bar between the turrets
  23. My old snotter from a few years back...I still have the alloys now on my current one...185 60 14 tyres loads of grip!
  24. Just got my first...already want more...was ready for pain and none came lol (its a bit leaky / smeary / new in this pic)
