Problems with trading on the site!

Recommended Posts

I think the site should have a sales feed back section basically to stop people getting rippd off.

I bought a os gilken twin clutch of Nightspirit he sayd it was in good condition, i sent money via pay pal and it took him a while to post it then it got lost in the post. None of this really botherd me because we all get busy and dont have time to post stuff and he couldnt do anything about it being lost.

When i finally recieved it, i opend it up and everything looked well until i unbolted it to check the plates! all off them had less than 0.5mm left on them and burn marks on the metal plates with deep grooves around them. The clutch isnt worth putting in to anybodys car, let alone mine that i was aiming for 300bhp with!

So i sayed to him i wasnt happy about it and he sayd post it back and he'll pay me the money back. This was good news, but i had also been busy and it took me a couple of weeks to get it posted and then he sayd he never recieved it and wanted to know all about how i posted it. So i sayd id claim of the insurance and wouldnt u know hes now recieved it!

Now he wants to take it to a specialist now and get the clutch checkd out to say that its shite but anyone mechanically minded should know. God knows how long it will take him to do this. i bought it late december! ill let use decide when i get the pictures uploaded.

To be honest mate, I bought a set of New Jap Rims and Lug nuts recently from Nightspirit and It was my first time ever using him as a trader before and I honestly can say he was the most helpful guy ever. Everything arrived in perfect condition and I was constantly pm'd with delivery updates and any questions I had, and he was only too happy to answer me back. :)

Why don't you try giving him a message and ask him how long it will take to get checked out properly?

Evening all,

I'm glad Ryan has gone public with this...this guy is one of the worst people I've ever dealt with in many years...

Firstly, I sold the clutch for £250 shipped to Ireland...that's quite cheap for a £600 plus clutch, I said it was used but was useable. All the used parts I buy I try to make sure they're in good order otherwise I can't sell them...this particular clutch was for my track car, but as I bought a car with one fitted, I sold it on.

The clutch was supposed to be collected (over the busiest time of the year...christmas week) by DHL. DHL cocked up many times, I kept Ryan up to date and apologised along the way. Ryan asked for a refund, I asked him to wait a few days for the clutch to arrive...it did. He then tells me the clutch is burnt out, useless, I'm ripping him off etc. He says he has many photos...

I say ok, send it back and I'll check the clutch out as there are always people out there trying it on, ordering something, saying they don't want it..or even saying they've sent it back asking for a refund while all the time having the item still...it happens.

4-5 weeks pass and no word from Ryan.

All of a sudden a short mail (this guy makes communication impossible with 5 word pms etc), he's posted it back...

I wait...nothing arrives....Ryan sends me an invoice request via Paypal....no pm...no communication. I send many pms asking how he sent it...was it insured? he NEVER answers any of these questions just says things like 'I will be getting my money back'.

The clutch shows up on saturday, all well boxed, I have it booked in with a specialist tomorrow...as per the pm I sent Ryan tonight. If it's knackered, I'll refund him no problem but I need to check it out.

And now finally, he's gone and posted here about it all, which I'm glad about...as Mart and anyone else who knows me or has dealt with me will tell you, I'm no cowboy, I'm a decent guy and I keep my word, my reputation speaks for itself.

I had the foresight to keep all pms sent and received from Ryan and would be happy to post them up here if it were required.

I also agree that a feedback section is a good idea...

Now Ryan, for the last time, I will have the clutch checked tomorrow and if it's knackered and everything is in order, your money is on the way. Do you honestly think I'd rip you off £250? I receive and order around £20k a month most of the time, come on.

After reading this thread I too think that a general selling feedback section should be created in order to give everyone a much better opinion of others experiences of dealings with members selling on UKSC so that they too can have confidence in buying from them.

We all know that not all trades go sweetly but there is always more than one side to a story, altho the thread has gone public I hope that you can organise and finalise the matter between yourselves privately from now on Mark and Ryan.

Individual traders have their own respective feedback section so I dont see why there cant be one for general selling.

SiCaln is managing the trading section so only he can organise that.

can i have my 2 pence...

in marks defence, im assuming its the ts2 twinplate? its the same clutch i use. and the discs do have a really thin layer of disc on them as new.

if you are comparing this clutch with an oem item, then you are a bit of a plonker....

and used clutches have grab marks and stuff on them... as tom jones once said, its not unusual.

I thought I'd update this thread...

I've heard back from the specialist, there's an average of 0.6-0.7mm left on the plates (actual depth of friction). Upon also seeking the opinion of RB Motorsport..feel free to call them up by the way, they're the UK official distributor of OSGiken, listing the EP82 clutch at £750

http://www.rbmotorsport.co.uk/racingclutch...delname=Starlet

They also informed me that with those measurements, and I quote 'There is plenty of life left in that unit'.

People have asked me why I get items checked if this happens, the answer is simple...it's a third party, impartial, they know more than me...and as I buy in confidence, if an item isn't up to scratch, I need the opinion of a specialist before I can make a claim on insurance.

I have sent this information to Ryan, offering to ship the clutch back for free, or the refund as a gesture of goodwill (I'm such a cowboy), but I'm loathed to do that as he's called me a liar and questioned my credibility as a seller...and when you base your business on word of mouth, ill informed accussations have a negative effect even if they're wrong.

If Ryan still insists on a refund (as I suspect he will) the clutch will be re-listed here and on Ebay if anyone is interested, make me an offer. The sale price was £250.

Kind regards,

Mark

chap, your reputation preceeds you, so I doubt this will affect anything...plus being that handsome, Ryan just hasn't had his heart melted yet :)

But seriously, it just might be a confusion due to the clutch type...he should have a look at the multi-plate clutch of an F1 car, we had one in our Autolab, smaller clutch discs of about the same thickness of a CBR600's clutch pack...

Ola all,

I'm Mark's mate with the GTR and just thought I'd add my 2pence. Mark became my friend through getting LOADS of parts off him and when we were both in the mutuial position of being ripped off over some bodykit stuff many a moon ago. Through this experiance Mark was on the receiving end of a proper cowboy so knows what it is to "actually" be ripped off. Back then Mark always struck me as an honest chap and once I got to know him I knew I'd trust him with my life...even my GTR, he's the only person I've let drive it bar tuners.

Now I don't know both sides of the story but frankly I don't care and I don't need to...I've had an OS for my car and can confirm they have very little meat on the plate as standard.

Ryan mate to be honest get the refund..and don't bother buying off Mark again please. I've told him you are not worth dealing with and he agrees. I can't stand people who cheap out on parts (£250 shipped for an OS twin plate is CHEAP) and then whine and moan that they've not got a new item all shiny and sparkly.

Mark got it confirmed with Rod Bell (RB motorsport) - and I can confirm that they say the clutch is usable.

If you want a clutch for a 300bhp car mate that's going to last you...spend some more money.

Cheers

If anything this has proved your more than a reputable(sp) trader and a decent person too getting it checked out at I presume your expence. Cant see this putting anyone off trading with you and a least some good has come of this, we now have a sales feedback section.

Thanks Adam,

I don't want this thread to turn bad, I've pm'd Ryan, it's his call...just wanted to update you all with the situation.

That was many many moons ago when I was properly dicked by an American seller and well, I couldn't do that to someone else. Sounds cliched but do unto others and all that :)

Oh come on ttestaret, if you bought that off some other person you'd most likely never hear from them again. He has offered to get it inspected and give you a refund if you want; a lot of people wouldn't even think of doing that - they'd take your money and tell you where to go. You bought an expensive clutch for very cheap, don't expect it to be in A1 condition matey.
