starletezy
Anyone know where can source custom drive shafts for the k20? Thanks
morgey
Driveshaft shop in the U.S would do it. Or if you google custom driveshafts uk a site pops up that makes them from £190 for a blank shaft (no c.v's)

morgey
Theres a lass from oz thats on here somewhere who has a k20 swapped 82. She had cad diagrams of the mounts used. Would be worth having a word with her see if you could get them replicated.

Ollieh17
Doesnt seem like a very feasible project if you haven't even though of hubs and shafts. Can't imagine theres alot of info around. One of those projects people just crack on with and deal witg as they go along
TimD
Easy though, just bolt it in. Cut your losses, buy a EG/DC and K swap that, or just buy a DC5 and have done with it!
starletezy
Sweet morgey! Does look like a tight fit lol to be honest it can be done as long as the parts are there. Fair point TimD but I have an itch to do it to an starlet lol
morgey
Id say go for it mate. I faffed about left right and center getting my 4age in my car, there was next to no info on any of it. Was just a learn by doing project. Only advise i will give is over estimate the price on everything and dont set deadline as it will be a lot of work and a lot of waiting for custom parts.Few options with hubs. Either leave stock and have shafts made to fit or machine them out to fit bigger bearings and a larger stub axle. I did the latter on my 4age conversion. But in hindsight id probably have opted for a pair of custom shafts fitted to stock starlet hubs.
Phil
Yup hubs and shafts is easy in one sense. It's getting them sitting at a half reasonable angle that be the trick when your governed by a big lump of an engine/box and you've to get the bonnet closed but the sump off the groundPhil
starletezy
Its more of a long term project were i will be filtering money towards it slowly on the plus side I'm good friends with an Honda specialist so that's where most of my help will be coming from. my option is stock hubs with custom shafts would probably be the most easiest option clearance from the bonnet and ground will be the hard bit aswell but once the engine is lined up and mounts welded everything will come together
Phil
Look forward to seeing the progressSuper plan Phil
Amjad
I don't think anyone will claim that starlets have a better engine/chassis than the Honda's. The reason we buy these cars is because they are different. I for one would love to see more swapped engines in starlets, it's such a shame the gearbox is such a limitation on the 4e
starletezy
Spot on exactly my point Amjad
