I suspesct my ringlands have gone after reading on the forums but would appreciate some opinions. Car was smoking like mad but only on idle, i blocked the pcv and it stopped snoking after 10 mins or so. The turbo isnt leaking ive had that off and checked it. Compression test results were

Dry - 140 170 150 150

Wet - 170 170 180 170

I took the oil cap off with the engine running and its blowing through that like mad, I can feel it pulsing, my breather next to the oil filler is also drowning in oil. Appreciate any input. Thanks!

Wouldn't be too bad I don't think, full engine gasket set, bottom end bearings, source some pistons off here and new rings. you might not even need pistons if its just the rings that are worn. plus it gives you chance to put fresh crank seals in etc.

If you had cracked piston ringlands. There would be a much more dramatic difference in psi on that cylinder.

Would you say I just have worn piston rings then or some other issue?

Could be rings or the valves not seating properly.

Best place to get rings is either import car parts or jap service parts.cant remember which one i use both a lot. Think i payed 100 pounds for genuine rings.

The valves not seating would explain the low compression but not the pulsing air coming from the oil filler and the car burning a lot of oil I don't think. Thanks for the websites, Didn't know about those :)
