Mk1 gt snow edition project

Well I thought I may aswell make a little progress blog of my mk1 glowbadge GT

I bought her end of August of eBay , I was looking for glow badge as I've all wanted one and this one popped up

The body work was awfull but i had plans of making her shine again !! But on the way home the oil return pipe split causing it to chew the big ends

This is how she looked when I got her

After I got her recovered she went straight in my lock up and engine was out that day on a engine stand to see if it could be saved but damage had gone to far

I sourced an engine and got it in there and running

And this is how she looks now , not very pretty but it's work in progress

Don't ask me what colour I'm going to re spray her as I can't make up my mind

Im concentrating on making her solid first and everything mechanically is sweet before I pay out for a full re-spray

Found a picture of my old GT anyone know who has got it now ?

Just took a few better pictures of how she sits now

That looked pretty unique with the castrol decals!

Yea it looked pretty cool if it was done properly I would of left it like that but it looked like Stevie wonder done the spray job and stickers

Glad this is being saved, its been up on ebay for absolutely ages lol, nice to see a MK1 aswell. That colour above looks like Toyota 185 which was only found on the MK1s.

Yea I see it on eBay twice first time I didn't win it but then was re-listed due to time waster then I won it that time

She has been neglected over the years from previous owner by the amount of mud I've pulled out of this thing i think it's been rallyed

The off side sill was rotten but I've had a whole new sill put on it and any little rust I find I've sorted out

I wanna keep my mk1 in an orignal colour I'll either do it that burgundy colour or the gunmetal grey above

Colour wise, yes i think the greys go :

185 (mk1 beauty as per above)

182 (Mk3 gtadvance panels)

183 (Mk2 slightly lighter grey than mk1)

the mark 1 grey is def the nicest

the gi is 185 and my gt is black/green and the code is 6L2

i hope you kicked off with the seller and got some form of compensation back for mugging you off, as it was quite clear they were aware of the damage. great to see you restoring it though!

my gt is 6L2 and i think its a great colour its my favourite out of them all

be interesting to see what you pick in the end im lookin forward to it
