JDMfreak
Howdy people after been out of the starlet scene for a while I made a bold decision last night probably to hastily and swapped my golf for a starlet sr I knew it needed some cosmetic tidying but when I went about replacing the broken exhaust I spotted a hole along rear chassis leg just beside fuel tank and the rear wheel arch has a small rust hole aswell Is this a common issue as in all my years of owning starlets I've never seen one with rust in these places I'm now thinking if it has rust like this where else could it be lurking
morgey
Sills are the usual place to go. Not seen one rust on the rail itself, its not where a rear arb was fitted and the hole that was drilled has rusted out by any chance?

5T4R7ET N/A
Starlets are pretty good when it comes to rust, especially ep91.Its just depends on where the car has been and if it been regularly washed. Mud is the killer that gets in the corners and sills and holds moisture in that place causing it to rustStarlets are now getting 20+ years old, so maintenance will become more difficult.Check all the sills and main chassis points for rust. Petrol tanks are also known to leak.

morgey
Never seen one rust there before, nor that bad. Cut it out and weld a new section of box in there 👍

Rob H@RCH Engineering
The sportif I had had both sides missing from the tank to the rear valance, they'd completely rotted off! My SR is fine there tho but I have done a small repair on a cill and the back corner on the N/s
