how do starlet/glanza turbos compare to cliosports?

i dont know too much about them but i would guess that they are about the same in a straight line, clio possible handles slightly better.

i would also assume that the starlet/glanza turbo would be easier and possible more tunable due to the face it has a turbo, things such as bigger turbo, bigger front mounted intercooler, performance waste gates and all that turbo stuff that im not too clued up on.

but i could be wrong, as i said, i dont know that much about turbo's as i dont have one

according too most places I've'e seen online the clio sport has a 0-60 of 7.4 so stock vs stock a gt should win in a straight line around a track the i'd say the clio, but the clio sport 172 has the same 0-60 as a gt

I have 3 mates 1 has a 172 phase 1, another mate has a 182 and another has just bagged a 197. 197 handles awesome without a doubt so does the trophy clio 182.

Id say the 172 was fastest then the 182 then the 197.

Id also say that if it was a 4 way race it would end up

Also, the older clio would most presumably weigh less than the newer ones? Less options/safety features, etc?

the Best of all the clios from a drivers point of view is the 172 cup fact!

standard vs standard a clio without a doubt in my mind on a track a cup would keep with a pritty heavily modded glanza/gt no problems

but too modify a clio you have to pay big money to get a 10bhp gain for example a common thing is a maxogen which are bloody expensive,decat,group n ecu and a 182 mani would be close to a bloody grand for not much gains to be honest

spend a grand on a glanza your looking at 200+bhp/tonne so the clio would'nt stand a chance,

as far as handling even with coilies and arb a more or less standard clio wouldnt have much problem keeping with the glanzas, renault know how to make little hot hatches, but reliability and build quility is farely shoddy.

they mean nothing in real life but as said standard vs standard clio wins,a 160bhpish glanza would be ok with a clio till top end even though clios are crap,modded vs modded definatly a starlet... p.s. I've owned both.

stock for stock i would say the clio. But as soon as you start modding a gt/glanza it will be gone!. turbos are so tuneable. with little money you can up the boost to a bar and then if your still not happy you can alwyas get bigger turbos. I would imagine modding a clio engine would be very very expensive

Plus you have got the reliaility of a toyota

handling wise, a standard clio would crap all over even a heavily modified starlet, in the same capable hands.

lightly modded, the clio will absolutely embarass it. they aren't comparable in handling terms, the clio is one of the best handling chassis' in existence, excelled only by the integra's.
