Farley V
Can anyone tell me is the optional extra TRD Carbon Dial Surround REAL carbon fibre or just plastic with a carbon effect look / covering? Pic attached of the part in question. Thanks
rob_bower
Just carbon look as is the centre console and door switches.
Nanglebadger
^^^what he said. Its essentially a wrap, when you flip it over you can see where it ends on the back of the panel. Still looks mega though - I may be a tad biased there! Phil.
SpoonalTap
Damn, I expected with the money they fetch it would be real carbon fibre. Stick a TRD sticker on anything and it suddenly costs 10 times as much.
akyakapotter
I'm sure there were full carbon fiber ones at one point something makes me think Mc Chu used to make them.
Nanglebadger
Mc Chu offered the shroud bit in carbon (you know the larger oval section between the wheel and the cluster) from memory - not sure he ever did the cluster surround in full CF but could very well be wrong, for example I had completely forgotten that my ducktail came from him! Farley V
Cheers for the info all. Who was Mc Chu, wasn't he in Thailand? I recall joining the starlet community right around the time that he slowed down / stopped producing his products. Was he a one man band? Was hoping the TRD one was carbon due to the cost when they pop up for sale.. Edited March 9, 2020 by Farley V
Nanglebadger
He was located in Hong Kong, Joz went out and met him once I believe. He was a complete one man band, he had a beast of a yellowy-green Glanza with late spec front end, and he was handy to a local TRD shop as he sent me a brand new short shifter for cost and shipping, amazing. But sadly he is long out of the scene. The TRD interior panels command their price because they dont come up for sale that terribly often - that said, they are no more expensive now than they were when I bought mine over 10 years ago.
