GalantEvo Posted August 25, 2019 Posted August 25, 2019 (edited) Okay, here's the deal. I'm building a trackday Starlet. Last time around, here's what happened. Sometimes when braking hard from 70-75mph, my brakes catch fire very briefly. Maybe for half a second. Everything is stock. What can I do to cool the brakes down? Here's the research I've currently done: - Stock 13" have zero space inside the wheel to cool brakes, got 15" OZ Superturismo being refurbished to be put on. - Stock brake pads are prone to overheat. What's available, and what's recommended? - I can't seem to find vented brake discs anywhere... Advice? - I've got plans to run brake air ducts from the bumper to the heat shield, just before the caliper. Might help cool the brakes in general. And now that I'm here, what options do I have if I want disc brakes in the back? Currently have stock drum brakes and I have clue how to swap those pads out. Plus they look silly. Socks Posted August 27, 2019 Posted August 27, 2019 Its all about the pad. Get the cheapest discs you can get. Get decent pads DS2500 or DS3000 are more then fine. You wont cook them on track. Altho this is on a GT Turbo with bigger brakes then you I would imagine! Quote
