There is a bit more lag but when it comes on full boost the TD's pull much harder due to being a larger turbo

As long as you got a decent set up the lag shouldnt affect you too much :(

hm good point about the roads, may be worth going for something more responsive, alot of people dont like and arent used to lag, especially as starlets are renowned for their awesome response, remove that and they feel entirely different, only really suited to motorways etc, basically high speed runs, which is scary on its own in a starlet, with panels peeling off etc :)

give it some thought anyway lewis, thats alot of money to spend on what in essence is a uk n/a. we'll defo help out where we can though, just let me know if there's anything you need.

think im going to go down the hybrid route, been thinking and if a tdo4 is lagy then im not going to get what i want out of it, so a good hybrid is definatly on the cards, what sort of power could you get out of the setup?

Posted

well to have 200 at the wheels your looking at arround 260 at the fly and on a hybrid i have never heard of that.

im no expert so the 260 is a rough estimate give or take a 5 or so bhp

Posted

260bhp and 200atw would mean a 30% loss through the transmission which is huge! Even 20% is quite high for a fwd and that would mean 240bhp for 200atw.

230bhp should be achievable on a properly setup hybrid and thats nigh on 200atw with normal transmission loss.

cheers guys that is some good news. will the engine be able to cope with that sort of power increase or will i have to forge it?

Posted

well i have heard this is the limits of the stock engine. so to achieve this you will need the best set up.

im aiming for 200bhp first and have a drive arround like that for a while.

just a bit of info for you if you didnt read up already.

abott who is running this :

here is my set up at the mo

1.5bar boost

268bhp

218 torque

211 whp

and he has a proper set up so i was right give or take 5 bhp.

200 whp on a hybrid is ambicious...mark is only making 203 whp on a td05 at 1.1 ish bar i think...

you dont need to go chasing figures, its what the end result/package is like to drive on the road.
