if anyone remembers, a few months ago i was complaining about the door strap in the drivers door being broken... well last night i had the window down. i had noticed recently that it had been sticking every now and again... this happened again last night, so i gave it a bit of a tug to get it to wind up and it wouldnt go all the way up!! B)B)

it had about a 1 inch gap and it turns out the glass had somehow worked its way out of the rubber guides and was getting stuck because of that.

so i had the door apart today to see what the problem was and look what i found hanging off in the door..........................

THE WINDOW GLASS GUIDE!!

the metal guide had bent at some time, and the door strap wasnt broken, but had been getting caught in the window guide... and after time the guide had totally broken off in the door!!!!

it cant be welded so ive gotta come up with some sort of bracket to fix it back in the door again!!

^this is the bracket it was attached to

^and this is the bit the door strap had been catching on.

WHAT A PAIN IN THE ARSE!

yet more stuff breaking on the car!

o yeah, and on top of that, my mesh fell out of the bumper last night so thats another thing i gotta fix!

yep that a common problem on the ep91. saw quite a few like that when i worked for toyota. it happens when you open the door in strong winds, when the door flies open the check strap stops it but it bends the inside of the door in the process, when you then close the door the check strap catches the window runner and bends it all over the shop. the only proper fix is a new door

I'm always careful with my door, paranoid about it snapping off at the hinges, glad to see my fear if not quite directed in the right is at least correctish

That is a bummer, sure you can de-bend/get a new runner and spot weld it, those two bolts nearby might give you the option for a bracket of some sort to hold one end
