cover the essential parts up with kitchen foil (dizzy cap etc etc)

spray degreaser everywhere

let it sit

work it in with a hard bristle bursh

let it sit

wash off with a low pressure hose

hand dry what you can

peel off the foil

wait about 5min

start car

How i do mine with no problems at all :thumbsup:

sound like what i did to mine,

i used an engine bay degreaser from homebase it was £5.99 and probably the best 6 quid i have spent on my car,

it says on the side of the can what you can't spray, and if you think anything else should not be sprayed cover it then go nuts, just make sure to remove the battery when you do it!!!!!!

and for aplication a household paintbrush is perfect but something cheap about a1inch or even half inch is great if you have the patience

before cleaning

after degreaser

after detailing (leads cleaned with white spirit, head and airbox sprayed)

hope this helps

Degreaser works wonders, don't bother buying expensive products, my engine bay was cleaned with a couple of bottles of cheapo 99p degreaser, just spray it on (standard EP91 N/A engine so didn't really need to cover anything up), then just keep spraying more on and the dirt will just fall away.

Then get the hose pipe on a very fine mist and rinse it off, it comes up really clean and that's without any effort! Just spraying the degreaser on then rinsing it off, and it barely cost anything!

Once that's done start the engine and let all the water evaporate off.
