What's This About Mercury In Light Bulbs

Recommended Posts

I was just screwing a bulb (one of those energy saving that apparently has mercury in them) into my lamp and the fucking thing broke in my hand.

I've just read on the net that you shouldn't hoover it up (oops, that was the first thing I did) and to get out of the room for 15 minutes...

Personally I can't see how it's so dangerous from just one bulb? Surely if it was that bad they wouldn't sell them?

One website was saying if it's hoovered up you need to "dispose of the hoover" and not to get it on your skin, "wear gloves" (it fucking broke in my hand?).

It all sounds a load of bollocks to me.

Yeah sorry I wasn't wearing my hard hat and high vis vest.

It's fucking rediculous, a few years ago the biggest worry with breaking a bulb was cutting yourself on the glass, now they want you to evacuate the room, wtf?!

Mercury is only poisonous if it enters the body through a cut or if you ingest it lol just make sure you wash your hands properly because it can be lethal ;)

oops, I had coffee straight after without washing my hands

Just don't have a wank for a while if it's on your hand.

Na should be ok, I happen to know about fluorescent lights. I looked it up about a year ago. lol. I know that they are lined with phospher and that chemical will soak up most of the mercury. Just have to be careful if you cut it, the chances are it would be such a tiny amount the body would deal with it. If you start feeling mentally and physically unstable you might have mercury poisoning.

And don't always trust the internet, docters even say don't look stuff up on the internet if you can help it, most people are seriously obsessed with their health and will talk extremes when discussing things like this. But always a good way to murder someone without suspicion.
