Glanza Noob From Brum

Recommended Posts

Hi all, names Mo from Birmingham, I'm not new to performance car's, I've been around a bit, just time for a change.

Anyhow, I'm on the look out for a Glanza, I've made my decision, I want the Glanza, just like the look of it more, the mrs thinks it's 'bubbly', which will DO! ;-), ahh back to the question I was going to ask you lot, I went to see a Glanza today, namely this one:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1667076.htm

I read the Glanza buyers guide here, which was pretty informational, anyway, I just wanted to ask some questions as I think there's more to this car then meets the eye, granted it has all the bells and whistles I'm looking for in a Glanza, I checked it as advised above, rear suspension was knocking, the owner didn't hammer it much but it seem to go ok'ish.... well the 'ish' is that the OIL light on the dash did not come on in ignition mode so I could not deter main what the oil temp was nor the engine temp, is there anything I could do to check this, the chap has got the gauges (oil & temp) in the car but they are not connected, anyway, does anyone know this car? he say's it bought from 'Torque of Keighley' etc etc, it sounds, good, it does look good, but i'm a bit hesitant because I can't deter main what's going on with the oil / engine temp, anyway i'll shut up and let you guys talk

Welcome to UKSC. :(

Couple of things though - "I want the Glanza instead of the Starlet" - A Glanza IS a Starlet!

He says he bought it from that place then I'd avoid it, heard nothing but bad things from that place.

Also if you ever need any work doing then pop down the road to Stourport/Kidderminster and see Tim @ TB Developments.

Ahh right, sorry I got a bit confused *corrected now*, I know they are the same car. Can you guys help me find a good clean one? I'm looking for a black one really, I already posted a thread up on the wanted section.

That's the first Glanza I went to look at, the guy who owns it was very hostile, take this in:

I'm there with a mechanic friend of mine asking him about the car and his there talking about beating people up :( , lol he goes on about how he owns a evo and more Glanza's blah blah blah, I felt like saying, "dude, wtf? I came to look at your car, not you". Anyhow I kept asking him why the oil light does not come on while the cars in ignition etc, and why he has oil temp and some other engine monitoring gauges that are not connected?

I walked away laughing, both me and my mechanic friend.

I've own'd evo's in the past, actually a fair few blowers, my mechanic mate owns a Stage 4 Escort Cosworth, we both could not stop laughing at this guy's ramblings.

I'm still looking around for a good one B)
