jap_crap
im pretty sure they have us at the top end. but as i live in southend there are escorts and fester turbos everywhere and ill have most of them off the line! yes my car is slightly tweeked but nothing major!
starletno1fan
coolies, off the mark is what im saying.because hes gettin his fessie rst next march and im intending on gettin a starlet GT next may when i have my first years no claims. And he wants a race, so i dont wana sound too over confident when i lose to him :angry:Eric
Guest Enzo
id say if thery where both driven by people with the same skill there would be close to fuck all in it as they almost weigh the same and push out the same power.the starlet ratios are slightly shorter so in a fully blown drag i think the ep would just win.they both dont handle that great tho and the fiesty would be showing its age by now as its a ford.dont get me wrong tho the fiesty, s1 & s2 escort rst's are all cars i have admired at some point or another
jap_crap
but even if you do loose you can hold him to the factshis is a 1600with a bigger turbo as standardrunning higher boost as standard!and if hes smiling just tel him your tax is cheaper!

scutch0
the thing is though those old ford cvh engines are crap, ok it may have a turbo, but ive been told the oil lines to the head are tiny which is why ALL cvh engines are tappy. plus its a 8 valve, so the old fte would be pretty strong in comparisin further up the rev range being a 16v. i think it would be close. altho ultimately the larger capacity would have better power at high speeds.plus what does the fie fie rev to? and where does it make most of its power?Rich. Nanglebadger
I used to own an old mk5 escort with a CVH engine....not that great to be honest, engine was scrap, and i mean quite literraly scrap after ony 7/8 yrs.
trip
Judging by those specs the RST doesn't look impressive..
Ep91
Ok... my 2p on the matter.FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily?TOYOTA = No such ryme'sSays it all
BlackTarw
The fiestas have been knocking around for years which is bad for reliability but lots and lots of development work has been done on them, they can be extremely quick, but as standard most are a little tired now and would struggle to keep up with my 1.8 Astra let alone trouble a Starbo. scutch0
i think you'll be able to have him mate.about the same kinda power outa a 1.6, thats pretty poor really, and as ive said, the cvh is a bit of a dog of an engine.it mite be close but you should be able to have him mate.this does depend on the driver skill though, and pin point shifting.Rich.
