Keri-WMS
UK > France > Switzerland (Alps) > Italy > Austria (Alps) > Germany (Nurburgring) > Netherlands > Belguim > France > UK!Left the ring at mid day, got home for dinner - hard-core-miles that afternoon (5 countries in ONE DAY ), average was like 460miles/day when on the move.MR2 and gf in the Alps!Shot looking at the 6" grass verge while driving.....DOWN onto a smaller mountain and a glacier!!! Scary shit!!!Last-minute sighting lap on day one, then we went to the pub. Wish I'd stayed out in the dry now!!!Only got one more lap due to the heavy rain on day two and constant crashes - plus one lap co-driving my gf as the rain meant the track was nearly empty! She did pretty well given that it was so wet my brother's BMW was getting wheelspin in 4th, and a Porsch and an Audi TT both crashed in front of us on her lap.... The MR2 I ended up taking was just a 3SFE thing but did really well, no problems and fast enough for a water-logged ring, but I need a ratty GT to get some miles in at Brands now. Keri-WMS
Cheers! Got a few more, these were taken by my brother, it's my gf driving and me as passenger saying "left - right - long left - slower - more power again" etc and waving cars by! As for how bad the weather REALLY was on day 2, here's another guy who was out in his Civic at the same time (not our video!!!): (also this one looks like it was shot earlier in the day when it was "just damp", sooooo easy to drop it: )More Alps, check this out for a fun road:

Keri-WMS
Was pretty ok actually, I was surprised has easy the miles were in the MR2 - but I suppose that is it's job at the end of the day.My brothers both had coilovers and one had race seats (stripped Ford Puma!!!), so they took it a lot more than me!!! I'd love to fit a V6 to a stripped JDM tin-top and do it again, more room for my helmet on track if there's no sunroof or T-Bar crap in the way, I'd get air con and "GT" goodies that way. addz
What an epic road trip!
Keri-WMS
lol - mass trip! The more cars go, the less tools each car needs - we take EVERYTHING (I had axel stands and the trolley jack behind the MR2's seats!)...Budget.....painful. The bro's have done ring long weekenders before and reckon on £350-500 per trip per car...I probably went into four figures...but we were beign crap with hotels etc, if we had pre-booked places we'd have saved hundreds. We found ourselve in Switzerland trying to find a hotel and the Swiss Franc was just raping us, like 13.00 franks for a McDonalds which is like £8.27. Hotel rooms were 150 franks for a hostel room and five sleeping bags (nice), 160 for a small room with no bathroom, and double rooms with en-suite with more like 300! Best quote we got was 700 swiss to sleep the five of us.So we thought sod this, we'll try Italy instead! Got over the border, nice hotel rooms are suddenly 120 euros.Best bet is to try and find "F1 hotels" or similar, I've been hearing 30 euros per room - you swipe your card, sleep and leave, no staff there. Vending maching hotels! But we never found one.Plus I bought the car and sorted the brakes (just get Rev2> big calipers which took several sets before I found good ones, new discs and EBC Reds front and rear), new handbrake cables, poly bushes, downpipe, DIY SS exhaust etc....probably £1500-2000! Also if doing the ring you'll need helmets, ideally harneses, and really you need insurance at £90-100/day to be safe as the UK insurers won't pay up....imagine a 50/50 claim where you swap paint with a Ferrari or Lambo on the ring, scaaaaary money. Keri-WMS
Oh, and get German ADAC cover (like the AA on steroids), as because they are the guys who the 'ring use to recover broken cars you don't have to pay the 175 euro or whatever fee for that part. They will also recover you from anywhere in europe to your home....inluding the UK. About £60 or £90 rings a bell?
Keri-WMS
Here's the bit of the Alps you need: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&sour....916382&z=8Also it turned out that the tiny B&B we stayed at is owned by Sabine Schmitz's dad and her stuff is on the walls, plus the main family business is a beer distributor - you get get it off them by the crate! Amazing place.
Keri-WMS
Turns out Jaguar like one of the passes we went on - so here's a nice video! There's a hotel on the island/spit in the middle of the lake (which is fed by the glacier in my photo earlier on), you can see that in the vid too.I want to go back! :-(
