Asad
Hey,as above its the first time ive ever touched a CT9 turbo and it was purchased in good faith for my N/A conversion i didnt want to leave it boxed up-untill the day it came to fit it to find it in a bad way/state....i was expecting "A" crack in the wastegate but this is what i got. The seller "bigman" was spot on with his service and dont get me wrong this isnt a slating thread. Im unsure and have very little knowledge hence the reason for the thread........i have sent the seller a Pm just before making this thread liveLooking back to my Pms just now, this is what was said:Me : Quick question any cracks in the wastegate?Bigman: yeah mate there is one as there usually is with most ct9's, im struggling to open the waste gate as acutator still on plus i aint that strong at all hahaI want to port it, am i still able to do so and use it with reliability? There is some shaft play, its very small so i can let a more experienced member have a "feel" as it were to pass judgement on that sideAsad
Amjad
They look like quite large cracks in my opinion, mine had a tiiny airline crack, but these will looks like porting will affect them!
Asad
My thoughts exactly.....ive blew my budget for the turbo i have no money to play around its gonna cost £11 to send the fecker back to the lad lets see what he says

BigMan
right since im majorly fucked off because1. turbo is fucked2. i did in the pm i was strugling to open the waste gate, honestly couldnt get it open that far because i aint strong at all (dont believe me ask geo, as ive just been cleared from hosptial check ups for it!!)3. got told it was working condition and was fine when it came off the carand finally 4. texting me at nearly 2am to tell me the turbo is fucked when im trying to sleep as have a busy day tomorrow but if its so important to sort out now i will do it i had a good look round the turbo and checked it as good as i could, i barely have any experience with turbos and after getting it off a ex member who said in good faith it was good to use and that i should keep it to use on my own car which i now cant. If i knew the turbo was in such a state i wouldnt have sold it, would have just went in the bin.very sorry for the rant as im annoyed having to sort it out at this time and sending a shite turbo, your honestly as fucked off as i am mate.Check your pay pal as you should have the refund. DavidAshton
Dude that turbo will run fine,This is what I run, have run knowingly for the last year and pulled 196bhp with, infact this is the original turbo that my car came with and has now run 100,000+ miles. That pics before I ported it, porting it made no difference to the cracks.....Performance and reliability still spot on. Asad
Right then...I only text you to keep you in the loop, as with most threads people hate on the buyer for not contacting the seller regarding the issueSecondly, I apologise to "bigman" whole heartedly this wasnt a thread to slate him or knock his service in any way shape or form....his communication was excellent, replied to my Pms within 30min gave me his address and mob number when asked forDelivered rapidly, i had the bine at 8 in the morning the day afterno faffing around, delivered the asked for pictures on time and answered any questions as best he couldupdated me with texts as the transaction went onGuess the moral of the story is know your item before you sell it on....go to any length to pull all bolts/nuts apart to make sure its as described dont take anyones word for itAsad

Asad
Im getting mixed vibes most say its no good, is it possible to get a different wastegate?
DavidAshton
Seriously it will be fine. You will struggle to find a ct9 that isnt cracked around the wastegate. What do you think the cracks are going to do?
Asad
I know its a common "fault" i just wasnt sure if it would be ok this far goneget worse? possibly break up the housing further?

bucketep91
i fitted 1 to a mates car a few months back and the wastegate was worse than that. I didnt think it would have been any use but he needed the car on the road. It was fine and holds boost fine aswell. i think youl be alright with that 1.
Carl.
as above turbo will be fine.just think of extremely small amount of gas that will be able to flow through those tiny cracks when compared to the wastegate opening. its a very small amount of loss.
