Galliano
Theres a topic here on how to turbo your 5efe engine :Clicky
Ryan...
That still does not explain how the ECU will know what day it is.Can you get turbo chips?
ste91
You cannot simply "chip" your ECU, you will need to atleast get a piggyback, E-Manage is the popular choice.
Ryan...
sorry i might sound thick here but can you please explain what you mean? how much it will cost and where to get this? Thanks, Ryan
ToyotaTech15
A piggyback ecu is added in with your standard ecu to map it as you cant change anything on the standard toyota ecu's.There are many different variaties Greddy emanage ultimate or emanage blue being the most common.Or you could go for a standalone management system but that will be alot more expensiveGary
Ryan...
http://www.nengun.com/trust-greddy/e-manage-blueis that correct?
steed
yep thats the right kind of thing
Glanza-Love
Requirements of a turbo set up.The exhaust manifold:Get your self a solid grade mild steel mani. dont pay buttons youll pay twice. The turbo & actuator.Td04L turbo is good & actuator.. best to keep it internally gated no point in doing external unless you REALLY wanted to.The Oil lines to the turbo. These can be bought from traders on here..The Oil feed from the sumpyour sump needs drilled and tapped so that the turbo has an oil feed! The downpipe. You want to make sure you get a snake head decat... normaly the decats half the size of the exhaust exit.snake head cats cover the full exhaust exit housing for more power. (i would give pics to show this so youd understand but im in work.)The managementEcus can be chipped but thats no use for what you want... you need aftermarket ecu.. piggyback/stand alone ecu such as been said emanagae there are others! The Air/Fuelas ive said above the management needs to be set up correctly. hence the emanage, if you overfuel or under fuel you can get "detonation" or "pinking" and well engines dead... so!! make sure you get it sorted out!really to put a td04l on you should forge the engine to cope with it, because if you kick its ar*e in it will eat your pistons eventualy.good luck and enjoy spending loads of money! Ryan...
cheers for all that info It will kill the standards on 4 psi?damn.thought they would be able to take it lol. On the swift forum im on there running 10psi on standard internals.I can't wait for my swift to be finished just wanted a bit of boost in the mean time.
Russleh
it will handle that boost ok as people have run a bar on standards in the 4efe. but its a non turbo engine so its gonna alot more wear than its used to so ya never know.
