siren676
Possibly stupid questionI've got a last gen 4efe with coilpacks (standard) and am wondering if it is possible to advance the timing? I had a quick look at the setup and cant see any way of adjusting it.Any ideas?
micky boy
Think the only way to advance the time on coilpacks is an Aftermarket ECU..Im not 100% sure on that though so dont quote me on it lol..Im sure someone elss will be able to give you a more clear answer
siren676
Yeah thats what i was thinking. Only reason i thought of the timing is the motor seems a bit sluggish when i put my foot down.Oh well should just bin the motor and put in a 4efte and be happy with it
ste91
"Feeling sluggish" could be a number of things, or even something as simple as spark plugs.
siren676
Good idea, ill check them when my bank account has recovered from Christmas spending
nastyrash 2003
thr are way to do adust timing but a after market ecu is the best option. Clean out the throttle body can make for better off the line response also set the idle to 1k rpm plus a earthing kit.
siren676
Will the earthing kit fit onto a 4efte aswell?
Amjad
^Yes, I sell them
Glanza_cl
with coilpacks i think it would be a case of advancing the crank timing? might be wrong.you can get basic controlers for timming but tbh its not worth the hassle on a 1.3n/a. good service, clean throttle body, fresh plugs and i bet it would feel alot better! siren676
cool, and ill try an earthing kit.
nastyrash 2003
advancing ignition timing is a sure way to get hp gains in any engine. or lost hp in worn high milage engines. on the power stroke a engine will produce around 30+bar of presure with advanced ignition timing it can go as high as 50-60,
