Mikey Jay Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Since this morning my car seems to have developed a sore throat The car's engine/exhaust (can't work out which) sounds deeper and throatier, with a sort of gurgle/rumble noise when accelerating, although sounds normal when idle.Any ideas as to what the problem/sound may be? Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 That's what came to mind.Still has the original exhaust. Can't look though, am at work grr Quote
rob_bower Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 thats a handy reason to upgrade to a Stainless!!!! Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Heh Heh Heh Now there's an idea.Certainly convenient excuse.Probably not much more to go custom stainless compared to a whole new standard exhaust system.....hopefully Quote
SiCaln Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 probably cheaper, a new TTE back box when mine broke worked out to be £270! Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 I meant full system, all the way through, like powerflow or similar? Quote
SiCaln Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 id be wary i wasnt overly impressed with my one Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Will be wary mon amigo, need to find out if it is the exhaust first Quote
scutch0 Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 could be wheels bearings if you cant locate the noise on tickover.is there no noise even if you rev it up a bit? Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 Right, not any noticable noise when idle or under revs when stationary but can be heard when moving (is worst when accelerating). However, the sound disappears/fades as I change gear so not sure it would be the wheel bearings. If it was the wheel bearings, how serious is it? Quote
SiCaln Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 wheel bearings isnt serious at all, easy to change and cheap to change Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 Out of curiosity, how much is a replacement exhaust for the EP91 starlet?(standard system)Cheers Quote
Nanglebadger Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 ^^^who cares!!!!!!! actually!!! who cares!!!! get a stainless on there!!!!! perfect excuse!!!! and powerflow all depends on the guy who actually does the work, the chap who did ine is SPOT ON!!!!! just depends who u get.Phil. Quote
Mikey Jay Posted February 18, 2007 Author Posted February 18, 2007 Will probs go powerflow yeah. No rush as the exhaust has got a fair bit in it before it goes (I hope )Will hopefully have it in time for JAE though Quote
SiCaln Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 yea play it by ear ask others what others around u think of your local garage - very much depends where u go Quote
