Mikey Jay
Since this morning my car seems to have developed a sore throat The car's engine/exhaust (can't work out which) sounds deeper and throatier, with a sort of gurgle/rumble noise when accelerating, although sounds normal when idle.Any ideas as to what the problem/sound may be? SiCaln
is there a hole in the exhaust?
Mikey Jay
That's what came to mind.Still has the original exhaust. Can't look though, am at work grr
rob_bower
thats a handy reason to upgrade to a Stainless!!!!
Mikey Jay
Heh Heh Heh Now there's an idea.Certainly convenient excuse.Probably not much more to go custom stainless compared to a whole new standard exhaust system.....hopefully
SiCaln
probably cheaper, a new TTE back box when mine broke worked out to be £270!
Mikey Jay
I meant full system, all the way through, like powerflow or similar?
SiCaln
id be wary i wasnt overly impressed with my one
Mikey Jay
Will be wary mon amigo, need to find out if it is the exhaust first
scutch0
could be wheels bearings if you cant locate the noise on tickover.is there no noise even if you rev it up a bit?
Mikey Jay
Not a lot actually no......
Mikey Jay
Right, not any noticable noise when idle or under revs when stationary but can be heard when moving (is worst when accelerating). However, the sound disappears/fades as I change gear so not sure it would be the wheel bearings. If it was the wheel bearings, how serious is it? SiCaln
wheel bearings isnt serious at all, easy to change and cheap to change
