ilghap Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 For those of you who has the air filter right behind your bumper or grill. How do you wash your car? Do you need to put a plastic bag over the filter as you hose your car down? surely it's not heathy to get your filter wet. Quote
lew777 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 be fine mate just try avoid getting it wet Quote
LukeSR Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 As long as you don't purposely spray it with the hose, I'm sure it will be fine ;-) Quote
Starlet__SR Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Just wash it you big girl. Wont do any damage unless you purposely feed the water into the turbo lolD Quote
daz gt turbz Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 as above mate, geting it wet is no differance to driving in the rain! just dont hold the hose/pressure washer over it for ages! Quote
mattyD Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 and if you were to use a carrier bag, make sure you take it off before you start the car otherwise the turbo will suffocate :S lol Quote
ilghap Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 Thanks for the info guys.I havent actually got the filter on the front of the car yet. Just trying to work out what bits I need to mount it there. (custome made mani for TD04 + not very wise fabricator = not much room) Thought I would ask before I finally get there.be fine mate just try avoid getting it wetAs long as you don't purposely spray it with the hose, I'm sure it will be fine ;-)I think it would be hard to avoid getting it wet when I need to wash the front bumper. (photo shows filter temp in place still need pipework) Quote
daz gt turbz Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 id just be carefull driving the car when thers standing water on the roads with the filter that low mate. Quote
ilghap Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 unfortunatly, thats the only place I can put the filter now. the pleb who made my custom mani left me no room I will get a pic tomorrow of the exsisting pipe work....... it truely is shocking!!! Quote
ryan lang Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 usually use a bucket, water and a sponge lol, just put a bag over it for washing it Quote
ilghap Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Yeah I thought that would be the best bet anyway..... this is the reason why I am changing the loction of the filter. Quote
Lewis_GTT Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Geez ^^^ thats a pipe and a half lol. Few bends in that, not supprised you wanna change. Ive never had a problem with getting my filter wet, mine is right behind my grill and seems to be fine even in heavy rain when driving. Lewis Quote
