TrisK
Well about 3 years ago i bought this 205 GTI with 2 other friends (75 quid each). We kept it at one of their houses in a field, well we lost interest then lost the place to keep it so it had to move.So I called another friend who said we could put it at a old shed of his, so we did. The other two people that I bought it with had lost interest so armed with 2 new friends (the one guy that stored it for 3 years) we started a project to get her looking and running sweet again. Its a 1989 1.9 205 GTIThe previous owners had taken the engine apart and not really known what they were doing (to change a clutch). But the inlet and exhaust was off, the injectors were out. It was missing a clutch and a master brake cyclinder. So in all it was in a bad way.So we stripped her down and got her ready for a make over.Repairs took place on the surface rustThen she went into primerInside got sprayed satin blackTrims got tarted upThen we picked a nice blue for the outside. We were going to do red again, but as a rattle can job in a shed we thought wed go for a different non standard colour, so it doesnt look like we tried to get it perfect. (it came out better than i thought it would)First Coat:Finished:We then put what were putting back of the inside back in (The seats)we also made some light weight railsWe have picked the colour for the trims and wheelsAnd last night the engine came out:And we got this baby to donor engine, brakes etc to get this running and ready for a raggingAnd we can break the rest of the 106 to make our money back.yes its going from a 1.9 to a 1.6. but its 16v and actually makes 1hp more, and a fair bit more torque. so should be still good for a fun run about. Some might say its a waste of money, but we decieded wed hate to see a clean shell go to the dump!
