jayjayktm Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Hi guysMy intercooler has got a bit tatty around the fins, what way would you clean that? Any ideas? Thanks Quote
starletburkie Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 real fine wet sand paper and polish it after! id to paint mine bkack Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Alloy wheel cleaner works well or if its really bad concreat cleaner works very well it's just a bit keen! Quote
AdamB Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Use a small flat blade screw driver, like the ones for glasses to straighten out the fins. Takes ages but well worth it. Quote
Liam_D Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 This is also something I would like to know, mines gone all dull what do people polish them back up with? Quote
Beastmode panda Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Autosol is the best i find really.. Few rubs of it and a nice buff up comes out lovely! Quote
Beastmode panda Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Oh sorry i thought you guys just meant the solid metal surroundings not the fins. Quote
Azz Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 A little dremel tool with a small polishing pad with autosol worked well for me just like what they use to pollish rings Quote
jayjayktm Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Yeah it's more the fins I'm interested in:) the surrounding of the intercooler is already polished, with autosol, great stuff! Some great tips, thanks , just starting to look a bit tatty so will have to give it a good clean, and straighten the fins as Adam said! Quote
starletburkie Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 i fliped mine around and welded on new aluminium brackets Quote
Rob H@RCH Engineering Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Concreat cleaner and a soft brush/ paint brush will bring them up like new! Quote
Socks Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Core off. Quick soapy wash in a sink. Dry it. On your knees in front of the tv. Knife. Straighten all the fins out. Autosol metal polish afterwards. Looks like new. Tis summink I do every winter. Sucks but it's worth it. Quote
rmsnoel Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 You can buy a fin comb as seen in any haynes manual to straighten and clean the fins. Quote
