skeeter
Hey guys, great forum. Found loads of helpful info on here! I purchased what i thought to be a 1998 toyota starlet about a year ago but upon inspection i've spotted that all the seat belts actually say 1996. As much as it seems to have all the parts to be a 98 i highly expect it to be a 96, cant think why all the seat belts would be changed. Anyone know how to check their vin for history? morgey
Seatbelts were probably made in 96 and just kept in stock and fitted to the car when it was made at a later date.U a n/a or glanza owner? Uk theres barely any differences Glanza theres loads seat patterns front bumper rear lights steering wheel dial colours, plenty to check if you are worried
skeeter
its a glanza. Yeah it has the correct front bumper, rear lights, white dials, The seats are the correct type too, it had an aftermarket steering wheel. im kinda hoping your right, it seems they would have had to change a lot to make it seem like a newer model. Im just a bit wary of its past after seeing that
pick1
Agree with the above if everything else matches up bar the seat belts then u could find that they were made before the actual car was assembled
bucketep91
Wat reg is it on?
scottyb
Theyre probably just a stock item and were made at a different time than the car. Although mine say 1998
skeeter
R reg. All the documents i have say 1998. Importers are dodgy bastards so im not surprised
Bryan-4E-FTE
go to your toyota dealer. They can see when your car was made!did the same with my own glanza
daniel_g
I've seen R regs in 96 and 98 spec. There are a lot of differences though so theres a fair bit to change to turn it into facelift spec.
R34GTt
Register on toyodiy and put your chassis number in and it will tell you the month and year of manufacture.

Yeah but part of me was thinking that it could have been half changed by previous owners Register on toyodiy and put your chassis number in and it will tell you the month and year of manufacture. I did that, coming up 1998. Hmmm... think i'll take it toyota and see what they say. cheers for the advice boys!
