A L 3 X
If I leave my car to idle when it's warm, then go back to it and get someone to give the throttle a blip, I get the smallest amount if blue smoke for a split second....what could this be?Bearing in mind I've just had the head gasket replaced and the head rebuilt with new tuning developments stem seals, and compression is all goodDoes it sound like an issue with the td04 given the symptoms? H_D
do you get any smoke on boost?
Danb
id say turbo seals
A L 3 X
No smoke on boost that I've seen mate, but neither did my ct9 that was smoking, that just used to burn it out when idling lol
Amjad
I'd have thought turbo seals, hopefully it isCould be starting to go I might add
A L 3 X
Yeah let's hope so, can't see it being anything else except the stem seals but just had those done :/
StuDoc 72
It will be the turbo matey. Most turbos will only smoke on idle or coming off boost. Not normally when on boost. Just check all breathers and turbo pipes are nice and tight and nothing is blocked.
PaulStarletSR
am with stu on this 1. what to do is get a pal to tail u and hit boost then let off and give him a chance to see if theres smoke cumin out the exhaust
A L 3 X
Like I say it's not so much on idle, just if I leave the car to idle when warm then blip the throttle quite harsh but not boot it? Still sound like turbo?A mate followed me but I didn't really boot it, he was just checking for when I set off from traffic lights, which he said he didn't see anything, must not of been idling long enough
Danb
Will be turbo dude. If its really annoying you then change the turbo for another one Edited March 5, 2013 by Danb
A L 3 X
It's not annoying me that much ATM as its only very slight, just the fact I just paid a bit for it thinking it was mint lol, seems to be more boost from the map has brought it to the surface lol
richdog
Two obvious things spring to mind, one has been mentioned previously, other is valve stem oil seals!
A L 3 X
Just had the stem seals done up at tuning developments mate, so I'd hope it's not that?
melon
Haha, I actually proper think your cars copying mine! Head first then the turbo/seals! Lol Sorry i shouldnt laugh ... just need your intercooler to crap itself now lol

A L 3 X
I still don't really need the ct9s lolI'm not too bothered just need confirmation it's not the stem seals, rich dog you've worried me now lol
Danb
I still don't really need the ct9s lolI'm not too bothered just need confirmation it's not the stem seals, rich dog you've worried me now lolonly way to confirm is to take the manifold off and make sure there is no oil that side, if there is oil in the turbien exhaust housing then this would indicate turbo issue.or try another proven working turbo Edited March 6, 2013 by Danb
StuDoc 72
Very much doubt its the stem seals if it was ud get a big puff of smoke when u started it after its been lying all night. If you dont then its defo the turbo.
A L 3 X
Make sure there is no oil before the turbo in the mani? And that's the thing, a proven working turbo is hard to find lol
Danb
Make sure there is no oil before the turbo in the mani? And that's the thing, a proven working turbo is hard to find lolYup as that would indicate stem seals as there is oil even before its reached the turbo.
